We have an $100 minimum charge and our shop rate is $150 an hour for large scale, multiple session work. For walk-ins, we will give you a price based on both size and the complexity of work involved. Rates may vary by artist and complexity of tattoo. The easiest way to get an appointment is to come into the shop with any reference material or concepts you may have and speak with the artist you wish to be tattooed by.

It all started back in 1994 in the city of Azusa. I tattooed out of a garage known as The Butt Cave. Then in 1998 I got my first job at a shop called The ink Garden in Arcadia. I was there for a year or so before I ended up working at Rose and Dagger in East LA. I was there for awhile and was over that night shift crowd.
Joe Reno has been working in tattoo shops since the mid '90s, getting his start from master machine builder and tattooer Dan Dringenberg. His earliest fascination with tattooing was the American traditional style. Over the course of the past two decades of honing and perfecting his craft, he has branched out to become a very versatile well rounded tattooer, but his passion for the traditional never left.
I started tattooing out of my house in Covina back in '93. I spent the beginning of my career working at a shop in East LA and started tattooing in Pasadena in the late '90s. I opened up Shogun with Pete, Joe, and Andy in May of 2002 and you can still find all four of us there today. I tattoo a lot of fish but I also enjoy tattooing traditional American and Japanese designs.
John has been immersed in tattooing for most of his adult life. He grew up seeing tattoos on his uncle and cousins and then was surrounded by them while playing in hardcore bands in the Detroit punk scene in the early '90s. As he collected tattoos and later began doing them himself in 1998, he started to realize the deep history and magic of tattooing.

Please Never go to Krista for any tattoos, I had the most negative tattoo experience ever! Her assistant and I agreed that my completed work would cost $800-$1000 for a mandala pattern w/dotted shading. My appointment was at 12:30 noon in which she wasn't there until 1:30-2pm. Once she started , she would take frequent breaks lasting from 15-35 min. From being occupied in the restroom to walking her dog .

Hello I just want to start off by saying this is a very nice tattoo studio and the people working here are very friendly and welcoming but I just recently got a tattoo by the artist Krysta and the experience wasn't worth what I was charged. I was told by her assistant that I would get a mandala sleeve, my entire arm for 1800 and that was her day rate. When I arrived Krysta told me should we be able to do "half" the sleeve today. So I thought I would be charge half the price.
I arrived at 1pm and didn't leave the studio until 2:30am the next day. Krysta was taking multiple breaks

I love this shop. I grew up going to old school shops like Mike Perfetto's in Bensonhurst Brooklyn growing up. This is a real old school tattoo shop. Joe Reno is a humble master of his craft. Visiting him and getting tattooed at Shogun is always a super positive experience. Glad they've made it through these multiple lockdowns and are back at work.

I love this place, I've gotten all four of my tattoos here and plan on staying with them!! All the guys a really friendly, they work with you on your ideas and pricing. Great Studio! I've gotten a lot of work here, as have quite a few people that I know. All the artists here are talented. I always go to Andy though. The shop rate is very reasonable for the quality of the work. Stopping to talk to an artist to make an appointment. I don't think that they do very many walk-ins. Appointments are pretty much required.

After finding her on Instagram, I contacted Krysta and scheduled a consultation with her. I had been searching for an artist with clean line work to do my, “Flower of Life,” tattoo.
I felt really comfortable with her from the beginning. She was very welcoming and open to hearing my ideas.
The day of, she didn’t disappoint. Her line work is Beautiful and clean, and the colors we chose to go with left me with the prettiest hand tattoo I’ve could’ve imagine.
I highly recommend her.

Highly recommend coming here for any type of work, I've been coming here for a while now with my boyfriend. First time we came we were tattooed by Pete Castro and ever since then we only get our work done by him. He does such an amazing job with all the work he's done on us and is a very cool dude I would definitely recommend seeing him !!

Krysta K has a separate spot upstairs and she is fantastic. I checked her work out on Instagram and needed her beautiful lines, symmetry, and dotwork on my body.
She has a clean, quiet space that was really nice to relax in. We discussed placement and size and design and she made great recommendations of what would flatter my body the best and look best over time. I'm incredibly happy with my snowflake tattoo and will plan to get more work by her, too.

I came in to get a rather simple tattoo of some birds on a music staff on my back and Joe Reno mocked me for requesting they be smaller. After seeing him roll his eyes at me I told him I would not be getting a tattoo from him that day and he crumpled up the sample paper and rather aggressively threw it at the trash can. I would not return to him his drawing was not good enough for his toxic attitude.
That being said my friend who was there that same day received an excellent experience from Pete he was kind and asked many questions and she was very happy with her wrist tattoo.

Decided to go to Shogun after reading through tons of reviews, I was very happy that I did. The shop is huge, clean, and well maintained. During my visit I found out that the shop has been open for 16 years with the same four founders still there. Charles listened to my ideas, drew up an image from my ideas and then did an AMAZING job tattooing my idea on me. Thank you very much!

Before headed down to Pasadena for a conference, I did a bit of research on local tattoo parlors as my partner wanted to get her first tattoo. While there it happened! Joe Reno was the MAN! I'd been contemplating another tattoo and searched yelp for recommendations. Shogun was at the top! I came in with some examples and was greeted by Joe. All the artists were busy at the time, but he told me to return at 6 pm. When I arrived he had my artwork ready and 30 minutes later I was out the door! The studio is awesome, all artists have their own room. There are tons of samples throughout. Joe listened to what I wanted and did an amazing job. He explained after care instructions and guaranteed his work, and sent me on my way!
