TAKEOUT/DELIVERY REVIEW

I've known about Avana since I moved to Boston 7 years ago, but really only explored it during the pandemic to satisfy my sushi cravings. We now order from them at least once a month. I honestly think Avana has the best rolls I've ever had, with a perfect ratio of rice to fish to sauce. They also do something interesting where some of the rolls have mango in it, which definitely was weird to me in the beginning, but is actually very refreshing. Prices for rolls are also pretty cheap in Boston considering the amount of fish that is in each piece, around $11-$13

The sushi was delicious.
We went there for dining in, do not do it.
I have to stand up and wave like 10 minutes so they come and get our order
And she didn't even say a word. Even ok
And when our food was ready she just come and drop it in front of us and we should figure out who order what.
And the whole place was empty. Just us!
It was really unpleasant and we didn't feel to be welcome there.
Such a shame

I understand people are still wary about covid but waitress seemed truly annoyed when I said my daughter and I wanted to dine in versus ordering something to go. Everything was served in to go containers and thrown on the table. Sushi wasn't great and similar to what I have gotten at the markets. Super disappointing :(.

I was overcharged and didn't get exactly everything I ordered but this place was really tasty and certainly is worth going again to because the price point. The maki rolls were good, freshly made upon arrival, and obviously nice and hot (for the cooked maki). The staff are okay, kinda confusing, but not something that would pull me from visiting. Definitely a place to try if you haven't

Great fresh sushi and the prices are awesome. Got a lunch set for two rolls (delicious), two sides and miso soup(a bit watery) for 13.95. At first, they forgot the sides but after a quick phone call they fixed the issue. Super fast delivery and great customer service. I'll order from them again.

Not a bad place and very comparable to Avana Sushi 1 (in Chinatown). Parking (like Chinatown) is difficult so it's best to do pick up or to eat in (after COVID anyways).

Items ordered (prices as of 11/20)
- Eel Avocado Cucumber - $5.95 : Not bad but nothing I haven't had before.
- Torch Salmon (Chef's Special Maki) - $13.95: Actually surprisingly good. It's a warm (cooked) roll and the flavors mesh together pretty well.
- BBQ eel (Poke Bowl) - $13.95: For the price I'd say this was acceptable. Eel was tasty and cooked well and the sauce was good. Unfortunately I

Absolutely, hands down my favorite sushi in Boston! Highly recommend if you're working downtown, but also delicious as delivery.

Ordered 2 sets of the maki platter. The food was nicely packaged and tasted delicious! Food was also ready in a timely manner. The restaurant was so sweet and even gave us a free order of crab rangoons, which were also yummy!

I tried both Avana's Avocado Salad $4.95 and Kani Salad $5.95 to go and found them both fresh and refreshing, but that the Kani salad was inaccurately portrayed on some online ordering options, including the one found on Avana Sushi 2's own website.

The Kani salad is described as Crabstick, cucumber, avocado, mango in a dressing. There was no avocado for sure, and probably no cucumber. The mango was sparse. It was mainly dressed shredded kani on a bed of lettuce.

This is for their own online ordering from their website.i has a very short window to pick up my lunch, so I ordered from them to be ready at 12:15 knowing I would be there around 12:20. I get there and no one had seen my order at all. I showed them the confirmation and just said I wanted my money back and they literally said no and started making it. Because I'm sure they were rushing and not actually taking care making any of it, the order was wrong, sashimi pieces tiny, and sloppily made. They even charge a $1.50 convenience fee for online orders. So I was now late and charged extra. Lunch

Sadly I had to deduct this place by two stars I came here at 2:45pm and I wanted the lunch special. I asked to be seated and the waiter was very much rude and she stood around and I was ready to order. Then I asked her if it's too late to order the lunch special and she said yes. I'm more upset because this is not even rush hour anymore and ther is nobody here.

I'm surprised at the unfriendly customer service and that's a major turn off when you're a customer. Yes the food is great but you need to also be able to treat people with respect. I sure will be fining a new

For lunch it's more of 3.5/5 but the buffet was more of a 2.5-3. They have a really good lunch special! You can get 2 maki rolls with 2 other things (small appetizers) for $12.

But I recently went to Avana for their $26 AYCE dinner buffet which starts at 4pm. It was Saturday afternoon, and there was a steady stream of people but it didn't feel packed and I was definitely grateful that it's basically the same original Avana but in a bigger location.

Want to be clear, although they have many photos of sashimi uploaded their buffet does not include sashimi. It's even written

My wife and I came here on March 15th at 7pm for some Friday night sushi. The google reviews were surprisingly pleasant so we figured we would give this place a shot.

Wife and I started our order with some crab rangoon and a seaweed salad that were honestly not that good but not terrible. Given the cheap cost of everything on the menu we didnt have high expectations but we did expect something slightly better than what was recieved.

When it came to our entrees we were horrified.... we ordered a spider roll and a volcano roll (Both of which are clearly stated to be fried rolls and to be cooked

Stopped at Avana for a quick lunch on the way to a business meeting nearby. A great lunch!

It's a smallish spot, 6 tables along the side and a long counter with about a dozen seats. I was seated and order taken quickly.... Just what you want at lunchtime.

The menu is extensive, with all of the usual sushi choices. I opted for spicy rainbow maki.

Service was uber-fast - the food arrived in less than 4 minutes. The rolls consist of crab, mango, avocado and cucumber, wrapped in tuna, salmon and white tuna with a layer of avocado and topped with tobiko (roe). The plate was artfully decorated

Take out sushi that I ordered online and arrived on time to pick up. Ready to go when I got there, it was packed nicely and had all the appropriate side items including soy sauce packets, one pair of chopsticks for each maki roll and plenty of napkins.

The sushi was assembled nicely and presented well. It held together, had plenty of flavor and looked great. Fresh tasting, too.

I will definitely be ordering from Avana Sushi 2 again.

Updating my review and bumping Avana up a whole star because they deserve it! Normally my coworker place the order online for pick-up beforehand and they've never not had our order ready by the time we're there. The sushi is good sushi Downtown and consistent.

Be forewarned, their miso soup has a spicy hint to it I think it's because their menu offers a 'Spicy Seafood Soup.' Both of which, I've tried and both are as good as any other.

The lunch special is still my go-to deal. $7 for 1 sushi roll, 2 sides (choose from salads or pieces of nigiri style sushi), and miso

I've been on a pretty big sushi kick lately. Luckily, there are tons of options by my office and Avana 2 has definitely earned its spot in my lunch rotation.

First, their lunch specials are very reasonable. I (because I like to eat...all the food #whatisportioncontrol) order the two roll lunch special. This come out to just over $11 and includes two rolls (duh) from a provided list, miso soup, and a choice of a side.

Just so you don't stare at the menu with a concerned look like I did when I saw this, the "Eel, cheese, avocado" roll is made with cream cheese, not some random

This place is so much nicer on the inside than it looks on the outside. It also looks very clean. I only did takeout, as did a bunch of other people so there can be quite alot of people standing at the front desk. You can order ahead, which next time I would do. I ordered the sweet potato tempura roll and avocado roll. Cost was $11.00. The sushi was good but I feel Zen, a few blocks up has better sushi.

Keep in mind, I'm not actually eating the raw fish sushi, my review is based on vegetarian options.

Salmon was fatty and thin. Didn't stick to the "loose" rice. Eel was super chewy. Place was clean, people friendly

Update: Jonathan invited me back and I'm glad I came. Wontons were the bomb. Different from the wontons I'm used to. Very flavorful. Lil flavor balls. Yummy.

Salmon sushi was better. Visually and tastilly better. Rice was sticky. Fresh pieces of salmon.

Good food, good people. Gotta love that
