It's a busy Friday night in the North End and chef Joe Bono is right at home. His new restaurant Benevento's, named for the Italian town, is packed and orders are streaming in. But in the open kitchen, Bono performs a calm, seamless ballet. In just seconds, he paddles pizza pies into the brick oven, deftly flips shrimp with the bounce of a pan, and drapes gnocchi in a rich, red Bolognese.
I've ordered food to-go several times now. Clearly, this place has made an impression on me which has been worthy of return visits. Their pizza is great! I've tried a few kinds and have enjoyed them all, although I'm partial to the "Lil Joey". I think they must brush some sort of garlic butter on the crust of all the pizzas to give it a really nice flavor.

99% sure I got Covid here!
This review has nothing to do with the food. The food was delicious. I am GF and everything was yummy, accommodating, and safe. This review unfortunately has to do with the restaurant layout and their protocols. While my partner and I ate here, we were very worried about how close everyone was sitting (so tight people have to brush your arm to get by) in the middle of a pandemic. I have no proof, but I have survived 2+ years in this pandemic not getting Covid. We've been VERY safe. The Friday night we went here (14th) we drove in our own car and didn't go anywhere the

Ambiance: 5/5 For what it's worth it is just a casual Mom and Pop Italian restaurant so I wasn't expecting anything extra in regards to ambiance. It is nice and clean inside.
Food: 5/5 The bread that was given to us was fresh and delicious, only thing I could say was the butter they gave was rock hard and hard to spread. We ordered the caesar salad and it was good. It had cold and crunchy lettuce but it was nothing that made me stop and think twice though. I ordered the fresh rigatoni with vodka sauce and shrimp although expensive was worth every penny and was DELICIOUS. You also get

Ate there the evening of Tuesday Jan 18th.
Website states they close at 10:30, they accepted a reservation at 9, we arrived at 8:45 early for our reservation.
Around 9:30 they decided to close early and began to make it very clear to us that they did not want us to be there and wanted to go home. The entire staff was sitting at the bar, began playing strange music, throwing us dirty looks, which we initially thought nothing of then it became very clear they just wanted us to go away. Despite the fact that we had ordered food and were served a bottle of wine.

Had some initial concerns when we walked in and it just seemed like a loud bar with cheap tables, but the help reviews did not lead us astray. The meal was great actually and more affordable than many other North End options.
We had a meatball side, the gnocchi quattro formaggio, and my wife had the gluten free Bolognese.
The meatball was good, a rich meat to it with a bunch of good but maybe a little salty tomato sauce.
The quattro formaggio bake was incredible. Tons of gnocchi in the dish, a lighter tomato sauce, or at least it seemed lighter maybe cuz of the parmesan mised throughout it

My husband and I and our two boys went here because we heard of the wonderful gluten free options. This place did not disappoint! The drinks, appetizers, and main dishes were outstanding!!! Our waitress was so awesome! Friendly and attentive and just the best. We visit Boston frequently and will surely be back. Anyone who is looking for Italian Gluten Free options look no more. Make sure you visit!

I had excellent veal parmigiana next door at Al Dente. I saw sign on window for take out and I guess called in a veal parmigiana to go from I thought Al Dente at the lunch price 14.95 or 17.95 .
When I got there , was told was at Beneventos
And they only do dinner portion and was a lot more money. I was told same kitchen for both restaurants... so food prepared the same.
I gave the takeout to person I ordered for and veal was thick pieces vs the thin tender one I had day before at Al Dente. I can't honestly say if Beneventos veal was better or worse than Al Dente as I only ate the Al Dente

This restaurant is on the side street which can be easily passed but I doubt it with long lines of patrons who want to dine here. Parking is very hectic and hard to come by so expect to wear comfortable walking shoes to park blocks away so you won't get towed. You will need to make reservations in order to dine here. Walk ins is very rare. They have a hostess waiting for you to check in at the door. So no one is getting in without a reservation. The restaurant is a very small place and you are almost sitting on top of each other. There is no room for social distance in this establishment.

Staff was VERY accommodating for our party when some of us were late (were willing to wait really long for us to arrive; myself and my partner arrived one hour and 20 minutes late due to traffic from a Bruins game). I wouldn't recommend the pesto pasta there, but the pizza was really good. I give them a five star rating even though I didn't like my dish in particular because the staff were really nice and I don't think I can judge the whole place on a single dish.

If you make a reservation to go here, definitely eat a light snack before you go. We waited over an hour past our reservation time just to get seated.
While the food is good, and their pasta sauce is amazing, it's on the priceyer side for the portion sizes. And the fact that i had to pay $4 for a can of coke is weird to me.

I came here with a friend and unfortunately it was nothing special/memorable. Bread was bland and cold, and food was mediocre. I ordered arrabiata and it was good, but nothing amazing. There were little jalapeños in the sauce, but it wasn't very spicy. Service was a bit slow, but ultimately fine. I asked if my dish came with meat since I'm vegetarian and the waitress just stared at me and went back to writing on her pad. I asked again and she nodded her head and then walked away. I probably wouldn't come again.

Note - as of October 2021 they do NOT stay open until 11 pm!! We tried to come eat a second time around 9:45 pm and kitchen was closed, Google hours are wrong!
Anyway - the first time here was incredible! I got the gluten free Gnocchi Quattro, my husband got non-GF Gnocchi Carbonara.
And let me tell you, it was amazing in every sense of the word. I lament the fact my hotel did not have a microwave to reheat my leftovers I took home.
The sauce was perfect, none of that canned tomatoes taste, the cheese was meaty yet perfectly crisp on top. The gnocchi was fluffy and rich! Think of the perfect

Ok my husband said it was the best Italian food he has EVER had! He had Lobster ravioli and a side meatball! So good! The wildfire pizza my son had was fabulous! I'm here to brag about the Gluten Free options - I have not had Gnocchi since I had to go GF and they had amazing GF Gnocchi with lots of amazing sauce options! They also offer other GF options. So whether your GF or not this place is AMAZING!

In town visiting my boyfriend's family and we ate here for dinner one night. Oh my goodness did it make my belly and soul happy! So delicious! Hands down best carbonara I've ever had. Spinach crepes with cream sauce, eggplant rollatini, and lobster raviolis for apps was sooo yummy!! Staff is fantastic! You won't be disappointed!

Perfect perfect perfect! Jersey girls love their pasta, and this place does it right. Perfect ziti marinara with NO tomato seeds polluting the dish. Fantastic fettuccine alfredo. Both pastas were perfectly al dente, and both sauces were light and tasty. The Caesar salad is also good, classic and uncomplicated with perfect crunch. The staff is friendly and the environment is cozy.

I made it Beneventos in Boston's North End FINALLY after having the pleasure of having them delivered more than once. WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!! If I could give them 777 stars (Vegas style), I would. Annie, our server was SUPERB, friendly, talkative, and really knew the menu. We ordered a pie with sausage, ricotta and caramelized onions, a signature cocktail and a meatball. This meal was so good that we barely touched the pie - we were completely nourished by the DELICIOUS, PERFECT meatball in the DELIGHTFUL marinara with an ample amount of freshly-grated parm that we could only manage to eat three

This was my first time in the North End and a lot of the places were booked. We were able to find a spot here on OpenTable and were able to get seated without too long of a wait. I went with their recommended/ popular dish which was the chicken Benevento. For the appetizer we got calamari and it was plentiful for three people. It was quite large (3 pieces of chicken) and tasty. I like this place because even though the prices are high, they give good portions and you won't leave the restaurant hungry.

Served right away on a Thursday during dinner rush. Bread mediocre. Wish it was warm, crusty bread served with olive oil for dipping. Food phenomenal. The chicken in my pasta primavera tasted grilled and fried at the same time. Such good flavor. Loved the crunch in the vegetables.
Some of the staff super rude...but I've realized customer service isn't strived for in the North End.
They take credit card.

Food delicious and service good. We were on our way to a different restaurant, but alas, they are not open for lunch and this place was recommended by a worker at the closed restaurant only a few steps away.
Service was good a little slow at the beginning getting our orders taken but professional, not overly friendly and helpful and attentive. We appreciate that. Bread on the table was fresh and we asked for a second serving. A group of three ordered: osso bucco, eggplant lasagna and puttanesca. All dishes arrived piping hot. You will not walk away hungry, generous portions. Small subjective

I honestly expected more out of this place because I saw that it has pretty good reviews and North End is well-known for Italian food. But I'm a bit disappointed because I feel like I didn't get my money's worth--the quality of my pasta was mediocre and nothing very memorable, in my opinion.
I ordered the fettuccine pesto pasta without any add-ons, for around $20. You do get quite a bit of food (2 meals for me probably). The pesto was super boring and bland though, all I really tasted was a lot of oil, pesto, some melted cheese. I kept looking forward to the cheesy bites because
