Still trying to get an appointment weeks later. Why no appointment? Because they don't answer the phone, don't return my calls nor respond to electronic requests for appointments. I have waited on hold for 15 minutes only to have them hang up on me. I have never encountered such ineffective scheduling.

As an existing patient, I have tried to call and make an appointment five different times now over two weeks. No success. The call immediately gets put on hold. I can wait for 15-30 minutes and then get disconnected. I tried the service where they promise to call you back. They called back alright--I picked up my phone and discovered I was on the same holding pattern with the same classical piano music. Never got a live person. The doctors and staff used to provide kind and effective service, but if you can't make an appointment, then there is no point in trying to see them.

I have been going for years and have no big problems with the in office experience. However they are impossible to contact over the phone, in my case to get prescription refills. This is my second day and have yet to speak to a person. They do not have a portal, and emails have been fruitless in the past. I love my doctors but I really need to think about whether this organization deserves any more of my money. Yes, I have left call back numbers.

My consult and appointment for dry eye with the doc and technician were excellent, but they have not been able to get my specially formulated prescription eye drops that their doc prescribed for me to my pharmacy. This is my third refill, and every time it has been a huge hassle. The first time, they sent the wrong prescription to the wrong pharmacy, even though they are the ones who gave me the name of the only online pharmacy that could compound my eye drops. The second time the same thing happened, but we were able to resolve it fairly quickly except that they neglected to include the dosage

I would have rated them 5 stars before the pandemic, when I was impressed with them. But now they have apparently forgotten how to answer their phone to make appointments. While waiting to talk to a human for 30 min or more, they drop your call. If you select the option of being called back, they don't call you back. And although they are supposedly open til 4:30, they stop even pretending the answer the phone at 3:45, so you can't even leave a message. If you look at other recent reviews you can see that the rave reviews were pre-pandemic.

I have been pleased with my visits to the Tysons location in the past; however, I'm now due for a glaucoma checkup and am finding it impossible to get through to the scheduling office. The recorded message says that I can press the star key for an agent to return my call--that has not worked the past three times I've called. Surely they are not experiencing a high volume of calls that require me to hold indefinitely every time I try. I've also filled out the website to request an appointment with no luck. What is going on here that is making it impossible to get through to schedule an appointment

Hands down the worst worst front desk office staff anywhere in town. Both of their Chevy Chase offices. The doctors are great - we have seen Dr Wong and Dr Lee for our kids eye exams. But the front desk at Wi Circle and at N Park are the worst. It is impossible to get anyone on the phone. When you do reach someone, they seem to be answering and returning calls from CA somewhere so you can never get a straight answer on insurance, glasses, fees, appointments, anything. When actually at the office, the front staff grunt and barely acknowledge you, or act like you are bothering them. I have never

Dr Schor saw us on short notice on a Sunday morning because my 5-year-old daughter had a corneal abrasion the previous day and she was in a lot of pain. He did a wonderful job putting her at ease at one of the most painful days of her life, and putting me and my husband at ease. I highly recommend this practice because my daughter had seen one of the other doctors 4 years ago for possible strobismus that was determined to be pseudo-strobismus, and they still cared enough to see her in this emergent situation last weekend and prevented possible covid exposure if we had gone to an ER.

I had LASIK vision correction with Dr. Clinch and could not be happier. I found Dr. Clinch via a search for best LASIK Dr.'s in the DC area, and he came up via Washingtonian Magazine and other places as the best Dr, and I could see why. Do NOT base your impression on the 1st visit/consultation. The 1st visit felt rushed - they just did a simple cornea thickness exam and then talked with the coordinator before meeting Dr. Clinch. The meeting was very short - 20 min or so, and they said if I choose them I'd have to make an appointment for a full exam, pay $200 deposit toward the full

I got the LASIK Procedure. Firstly I don't believe I was counseled fully on the possibility of dry eye as I was told throughout the process that my corneas were thick, so I was a "great prospect" for LASIK. The safer, but slower healing PRK, was advised against even though dry eye is less likely to result from that procedure.
Afterwards I assumed my eyes would heal normally, but I have developed dry eye. At this point I made follow up appointments, and now that I've paid my money for the procedure the doctors take a long time to see me, I never see the same one, and often I

I will never come back to Eye Doctors of Washington. They are hard to reach to get an appointment or to refill contacts (as another reviewer noted), and once you get an appointment, it takes forever because multiple staff people ask you the same questions over and over again. They are not practical or flexible--they have their basic formula of tests and want you to just go through it even if all you want is a stronger RX. Also, took me an hour to see the doctor. I want to find a real eye doctor in the DC area that is responsive to my basic needs.

I have been a patient of Dr. Mayer for ten years and have been extremely satisfied with all aspects of his care. He performed cataract surgery for me on each eye.
I was able to schedule my yearly visit and was treated with the utmost caution and care. Every precaution was taken to insure safety during the pandemic, and I felt completely safe and secure.
I highly recommend this practice.

Ok doctors. Even with insurance, charges a lot. Staff are rude over the phone. Very hard to reach them. No one picks up the phone - even though we see the front desk chatting away about the weekend they had - when we are sitting at the waiting room. Very very unfriendly and discourteous to patients.
Avoid them!! We are changing too!!

I have been going to this practice for more than 35 years. Dr Barbour has been tracking my eyes carefully for several years and recommended cataract surgery. Last month Dr. Clinch performed the surgery. Absolutely first class job. Painless. No complications. I'm 100% satisfied with the results and can see much better than I have for decades. Other staff are outstanding professionals, too.
This practice operates at the highest standard of professionalism.

Dr. THOMAS CLINCH is the Best Eye Surgeon in DC area! I asked around & everyone said it! From suddenly needing help with my eye to our follow up visit was a remarkable 6 weeks. Clinch was that god-send. Warm, personable, professional, knowledgeable and willing to answer every question patiently--
CLINCH is just the real deal.
So, driving across country, I started to think watery, blurriness was allergies. When I arrived back to DC July 4th, I went to see Dr. Amy Chu @ myeyedr for a quick check up (love her, too) Bingo, rt eye saw that chart on the wall as one large blob. From no real eye issues

Like many other reviewers of EDOW, I have had many frustrating experiences with EDOW--from inaccurate billing, to missing records, to some very rude staff (mostly on the phone and Chevy Chase staff--not so much 16th St.) Also, the opticians will play games regarding your script, so that you don't take it to Walgreens or VisionDirect, etc., to spend less. It is really like pulling teeth from some of them to get what you paid for out of their tight fists; however, I know that EDOW is NOT unique in this way in the glasses/contacts game. I've been in specs/lenses for a looooong time.

I have a love/hate relationship with this location. I love Dr. Kang and that's why I'm rounding up, but I hate the rest of this particular office with their IDGAF attitudes. I keep doing my post-op visits here for the convenient location in the Chevy Chase Pavilion over Friendship Heights Metro, but the staff professionalism between this office and EDOW's office in Tysons Corner is like night and day. I have not yet had a single visit here that has gone flawlessly.
