As 5th Generation Owners and Operators, we know how important it is to continue to offer exemplary personal service, compassion at a fair price to every family we serve.
The Hitzeman family is very proud of our history serving the community for over one hundred years. Much has happened in the years since Laura completed her assignment; we are pleased to share our more recent milestones with you. According to the National Family Business Council, less than one-third of family businesses survive to the second generation and 70 percent are liquidated or sold when the founder retires or dies.

After my brother passed, I visited a few funeral homes in the area and chose Hitzeman due to the ample parking, large bathrooms, spacious viewing chapel, and most importantly compassionate and kind staff.
As others have mentioned, every call was answered immediately and every question answered promptly. Hitzeman has sufficient staff as well - whether you are there in person or call, no one is being pulled away for other tasks.

My father’s burial was not straightforward. While he died in Michigan, we wanted a service in Chicago’s western suburbs where he lived and his burial plot was an hour outside Chicago. I contacted Hitzeman while Dad was in hospice. Not only could they handle those complications, they were prompt and started helping us with arrangements immediately, even though I kept telling them there was no rush - my dad was doing ok. Thank goodness they were on top of it all, because my dad took a turn and died much sooner than I anticipated. Thanks to Scott & Chuck, we were ready. Every call was answered

Hitzeman's does a highly professional compassionate reverent high quality job in serving families of the deceased and walking beside them through the delicate difficult process of loosing a loved one. Having to deal with a loved one's death is never easy, and having to plan the arrangements is extra tough. I called several places, and from the moment I called Hitzeman and talked to Donna I felt relieved. Donna was very compassionate and caring. She was truly an angel to talk to during such a difficult moment. When we arrived to make the arrangements, Scott helped us and continued to deliver exceptional service throughout the entire process. They were accommodating, thoughtful, helpful and very genuine. We appreciated all of the efforts made to help us honor our mother in her last physical moments

Losing a loved one is never easy, it’s an extremely difficult and emotional time for a family but the staff at Hitzemans truly went above and beyond for my grandfathers service. They were empathic, professional, and accommodating even during Covid. They were extremely organized and detail oriented in a time of disorient and haze a family typically goes through when losing a loved one. They made the process smooth during our time of need and my family and I will be forever grateful for their hospitality.

The staff at Hitzman’s are exceptional. We had my Dad’s service there.They went above and beyond for our family, from the moment we walked in to make arrangements up until the very end. They are professional, courteous and very patient with a families needs and questions. We could not have ask for a more beautiful service for my Dad. Hitzeman was wonderful during my grandfathers passing last month. The services were tremendous and Hitzeman was able to honor all of my family’s requests while still following covid guidelines. They treat their clients with the utmost dignity, and are constantly giving back to the neighborhood. They recently held a meet and greet event for the Chamber of Commerce and local small business owners. Many amazing connections were made that night. Love that they recognize and value building these relationships, which strengthen our community.
