Whether you have received my name as a personal referral or as a result of a web search, it is important that you feel assured that you are choosing the "right" person. I am a Penn graduate with 40 years of experience as a private practitioner, university professor, and director of special education services.

My expertise in the neuropsychological aspects of learning earned me the 2018 award of Educator of the Year from the Learning Disability Association of America. My blogs on neuropsychological assessment, psychotherapy, parenting, and emotional communication are informative and will give you an idea about how I will approach your issues.
Services
I earned the doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania and have been in private practice for 43 years with a specialization in child, family, and marital psychotherapy and psychoeducational/neuropsychological evaluations.

During this time, I have been appointed to the following positions: director of the child and family unit, Benjamin Rush Center in Philadelphia; director of psychology and assistant professor of psychiatry at New York Medical College-Metropolitan Hospital Center, New York City; and associate professor (tenured), doctoral program in child-clinical psychology and director, school psychology program, Seton Hall University.
I am currently able to conduct remote/virtual evaluations using most of the same instruments used for in-person assessments. Please contact me to discuss how remote testing works and how to work with third parties i.e.

I provide comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations that focus on the identification of cognitive ability and executive functioning weaknesses as well as personality factors, all of which can interfere with and even paralyze students' attempts to learn.By identifying the abilities that are the substrate of academic subjects, I can understand why certain of these subjects are challenging.
Academic subjects are really byproducts of cognitive processing abilities. Difficulties in the processing areas that are necessary for success in specific subject areas raise the probability of problems in that subject. Identification of the deficient processing abilities is the first step to understanding how to address academic problems.
I have a wealth of experience in providing individual, family, and marital therapy. My experience has taught me that approaches to talk therapy have to be tailored to each individual. I usually combine elements of interpersonal and cognitive behavioral therapy as both are needed to make changes that are lasting.
Do you feel that you need to know more about what is involved when testing is recommended or when you are sent child study team reports and do not understand the ffindings or how they can benefit your child? Have you ever found yourself in the position of requesting services or supports for your child and been turned down by your school?
