All of our artists and piercers are licensed by the Department of Health of Nassau County. Feel free to inquire about any of the items listed below. Cleanliness counts: Tattoo parlors are becoming more mainstream, but don't take it for granted that the place is clean. Ask for a tour and be discriminating when deciding about the cleanliness and quality of the establishment.

Fresh inks: Colors come from inks, and every ink should come from a bottle that's poured into a small cup specifically for your tattoo. Just as you don't want to share needles, you don't want to share inks. If ink remains after a tattoo has been completed, it should be thrown away. Tattoos are a creative means of self expression.
Services
Your artist took the care to cover up your new tattoo for a very good reason - to keep air-born bacteria from invading your wound. Yes, as pretty as your new tattoo is, it is still a wound. Open flesh is a breeding ground for bacteria and infection. Leave the bandage on for a minimum of two hours.
Although it's a very antiquated method, some piercers will still tell you to rotate your jewelry. This is not wrong per say, but I have found that it causes more problems than it solves. Any crusties or bacteria still on the jewelry are then introduced inside the raw piercing when the jewelry is rotated.
