Born and raised in Los Altos, CA - I got an early start playing the piano, beginning lessons when I was six years old. In elementary school I also learned a variety of other instruments, like saxophone and trumpet. At Mountain View High School, I was an active member of both the advanced jazz band and marching band (no, I didn't march around with a piano - I was in the drumline!)
In college I picked up Bluegrass Banjo as a hobby, which turned into my second most-played instrument. I recently graduated from Santa Clara University with a degree in music and computer science. I have been teaching since early 2016, and currently have around forty students ranging from 5 - 60 years old.

Alex is a kind and patient piano instructor. He was willing to begin lessons on an electronic keyboard and help evaluate our daughter's interest. His low-key teaching style has allowed her to feel calm during lessons, and build confidence and enthusiasm for what she's learning about music and the instrument itself.
