Kabuto
Kabuto Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar serves a wide selection of traditional Japanese cuisine including sushi and sashimi, hibachi grilled entrees and a variety of salads and appetizers. Our fully stocked bar offers mixed drinks and spirits as well as Japanese beers, wines and sake. Tempting desserts are available to complement your meal.
Services
In Winter 2008, due to customer demand and the size constraints of the original Kabuto Japanese Steakhouse location we moved to a larger, more accommodating facility. The new restaurant features 10 Hibachi grills, a larger more spacious dining area, and room to accommodate large groups and parties.
Diners looking for something unique will find fire-spouting volcanoes made from stacked onion rings and knives splitting raw eggs in the shell - all at Kabuto Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar. Customers laugh with and are mesmerized by chef and owner Sam Zheng at the Hibachi dinner table grill when he gives breathtaking food/knife/fire performances before he cooks the dinner.

The food is delicious and they make it on hibachi grill in front of you. The prices are very good. The people who work there are very nice.

The food made me and my husband sick. No complaints with the chef, he put on a great show. Multiple dishes that were 'clean' had remnants of food on them before our food was placed onto them. We're still sick the next day.

Fuji frill is ten times better... The yum sauce and the ginger dressing for the salad are water down. The building smells like raw sewage, and the tables don't get clean between cooks... 0 out of 5... Not like it used to be

We got Kabuto special sushi roll, child chicken hibachi and shrimp hibachi, green tea soda, apple juice and mango ice cream. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food, ambiance, and service. We always enjoy the entire experience. It's our favorite Japanese Steakhouse for about 16 or more years now.

Horrible experience. Don't go. I made a reservation for my daughter's birthday for 6:00. We waited to be sat for 30 minutes and when they finally took us back, they crammed us in so tight we were unable to sit comfortably. Bathrooms were disgusting. Our server was nice and apologetic, bless his heart, but I wouldn't go to this place.

We went last night with a large party. We had 16 of the party of 20. They took about 25 minutes trying to start us when we had a reservation and the table was there vacant. They kept saying they would seat us after they do a count. The host did a count about 3 times saying it's only 16. Threee times I told him that's all we have and that's all that is coming. The restaurant was not too clean, server and chefs were great. Yum yum sauce was watered down as if they were trying to stretch it. I think I'll stick to Fuji Japanese Steakhouse.

Had a pair of meals here, lunch and dinner. The food is fine they're not exceptional, the show is underwhelming compared to what I typically expect for the hibachi upcharge, and the serving sizes are moderate. Again, wouldn't go out of my way for a meal here but it's okay.

I love this place some friends and I sat at the grill for a birthday party, it was fun!! The individual portions were amazing and just the right size. We got some sushi for later and even that was delicious!!! You must try this place if you like seafood.

It was a such a fun place, the food was tasty and super fresh and I love that, but they use a lot of butter yaw! Wasn't a fan of that! And the alcohol tasted VERY watered down !!! Other than that great experience. Pretty decent restaurant, looked a tad bit dated but clean from what I saw very kid friendly. Very fun if you go on a date or with a group.

Very disappointed in this place. Food was decent but not worth the cost. My 4 y/o only wanted rice but they made us pay for the meal anyway. $11 for essentially a cup of rice. We won't likely return.

I love this place. I mean, it's hibachi, and they're not exactly reinventing the wheel here, but it's enjoyable nonetheless.

I'm somewhat of a picky eater, so I love being able to get my food exactly how I want it. The chefs are always eager and willing to comply with whatever we want and I leave pleased every time!

Having been to a trillion teppanyaki grills, I'm hardly there for the show. If you've seen one onion train, you've seen them all. I'm also not a fan of trying to catch raw broccoli in my mouth as it flies off the spatula, so I tend try to avoid

Thinking about it on the drive home after dining at Kabuto, I really wasn't able to come up with anything that made Kabuto exceptional nor anything that I could rip on them for. It was the exemplary model for "above-average". Not a bad thing at all. The menu selection was typical of any other hibachi joint and the presentation of the chef prepping the table's food was nothing new. There was the initial fire burst, classic onion volcano, and the "here catch!" broccoli throw to guests. It's all fun and games but just nothing out of the ordinary that blows you away

Not bad sushi. I asked for a shrimp tempura appetizer and I was given a roll of some kind along with my Kamakazi roll. Lighting is a little annoying, I'll have to strain my eyes when I go back outside into the light. Do NOT drink the water, tastes like they scooped it out of a swimming pool, the bites of sushi were very inconsistent due to the uneven cuts of the roll, some bites normal, others I could barely fit into my mouth.

I'm from California and am rather picky about my sushi, I honestly am gonna have to say that the price overall isn't really worth it.

My review of Kabuto specifically relates to the sushi (I've never had the hibachi experience at this particular restaurant). There aren't many options for sushi in the Colerain area, so, thankfully, Kabuto hits the sushi spot when I don't want to drive into the city.

I can't recall a time when I've had to wait for a table at Kabuto and I am always greeted by a friendly host and seated promptly. The seating area is always very dimly lit, giving the place a weird ambiance and I wish they would brighten the place up a bit!

Sushi is always fresh and they serve very LARGE portions

This is a good restuarant to eat out with your friends and colleagues, the staff are warm and friendly. If you are going alone You may have to wait for 5mins or 10, to get a complete group of 6 or 8. The food is good and what I enjoy is the life perfomance of the chefs when preparing the food.

Okay. I get that larger groups tend to enjoy hibachi grills. The staff really seemed like they didn't know what to do with me as a lone diner. I asked if I could dine at the bar, which was my plan all along. Again, the bartender seemed not to know what to do with me and seemed to have trouble engaging. I ordered a small salad with ginger dressing and the sashimi appetizer. I like the salad, but the sashimi didn't seem particularly fresh and had lots of fatty/chewy bits. I don't think I will return.

I went out to Kabuto this past Saturday night for a double date. The couple joining my boyfriend and I had warned us that even with reservations they had waited for about an hour and a half in the past. However, they continue to go back because they love the food. This warning was great, as I already had that expectation going into the night. We all wanted an early dinner so we met up at the restaurant around 6:30 as you cannot make reservations for before 7:30. We were told it would be about an hour wait so we sat at the bar and each ordered a drink. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio which was decently

Dinner tonight was really good with just a few very minor flaws.
I started with the Harumaki which was yummy. The portion was a bit small but only costs $5. These are some tasty spring rolls served with some really good dipping sauce.
I ordered the filet mignon which comes with clear soup, a salad, fried rice & some veggies. Here's my take:

The positives:
I was only going to try a small taste or 2 of the soup, but kept going back to it. For a clear broth soup, this has some great flavor.
What the Harumaki lacked in portion size, the filet definitely made up for it. This was a lot of

I've come here a couple times recently to visit my aunt. the restaurant itself looks a little dingy but the food is ok. i like the eel roll the most--also my cousin's favorite!! the rest of the food is good, but nothing too memorable. the service is fine, we could have gotten a couple more checks on our drinks but overall it was okay. my aunt has a favorite server there that she loves, so service could just be hit or miss.

I've tried many habachi restaurants in the past and this one passed my inspection as well. We had a great waiter and they were very catering in substituting what I wanted (i.e. cream cheese instead of avocado). Food was fairly priced and would definitely come back again.

The table was sticky and the place was packed. The food is good as always. The service was a little faster then the last time I was here. We always enjoy the food.

I feel like no one is taking an interest in the appearance of the restaurant. Old birthday balloons hanging from the ceiling, same decorations. Saw rolled up used paper towels on the front counter as if just left there. The food was good but the water always tastes like it came from a garden hose.

Met up with friend and her brother for pre-holiday dinner, her brother lives on the West side and she was in town from upstate NY. You will fight traffic to get here as they're right off Colerain, I was on Colerain bumper to bumper for 30 minutes on a Monday night.
We had reservations, but still had to wait about 20 minutes for table, once we were seated, took about 15 minutes for drink orders and then another 15 to take our orders. I told the server I had a food allergy, several times, seafood & he reminded the chef as well as my friend also had to remind as he tried to serve me shrimp
