People tend to reach out for therapy when they are in transition and ready for change. Maybe you are needing guidance in navigating the way. It takes courage and strength to ask for help. I encourage a warm interactive relationship with my clients. You are invited to share your authentic self in a safe and secure environment.

Developing trust is key in the therapeutic relationship and can lead to empowering results. Are you seeking guidance and direction from a therapist? If so, I can help. Maybe you are feeling anxious or suffering from loneliness and isolation whether it be in or out of a relationship. Therapy can help you to gain insight into old negative beliefs and behaviors that no longer serve you.
Services
I believe that it is important to feel comfortable and safe with your therapist. Finding the right fit and feeling secure in the space will help provide hope and motivation. My theoretical approach is based on the needs and goals of my clients. To listen in a deep, supportive manner providing suggestions when appropriate to meet your individual needs.
What exactly is hypnosis and how does it work? Hypnosis is simply an altered state of consciousness that normally occurs just before entering the sleep state. We are in a trance many times during the course of the day without even knowing it. Sometimes while driving when you don't know how you got from point A to point B. That's the trance state.
Art Therapy is a powerful modality that helps you to get in touch with deep feelings through the creative process. By providing a visual explanation as to what's going on inside the mind, art therapy makes the unconscious, conscious. The art process taps into a rich inner resource of material where the experienced art therapist can help guide and assist in understanding and healing.
Addiction/Alcoholism permeate almost every aspect of society today. We all know someone or have a family member, spouse or are struggling oneself with substances and/or behavioral addictions or compulsions. Can therapy help? Absolutely. Although there are many different theories about addiction, one thing is abundantly clear that it is probably one of the most difficult concepts to comprehend.

I wholeheartedly recommend Ami for anyone seeking clarity in relationships, struggling with self esteem, or simply seeking greater self awareness. Ami has a special gift that combines a professional background with a high degree of personal intuition and a compassionate and non-judgmental character. My sessions with Ami did not just make me feel better; I saw tangible results in my self esteem and the ways I navigated relationships. I always felt safe in sessions with Ami, and this helped me grow tremendously. She has been pivotal in helping me identify the roots of certain patterns I kept

Ami is a great therapist!
I really felt heard and understood by her. I needed help in separating myself from my crazy alcoholic, narcissistic family members and understanding how this has effected my relationships.
Ami gave me perspective and realistic advice. An added plus was her expertise in "healthy dating coaching." As someone who has struggled with various bad "habits", I appreciated her guidance in overcoming dating anxiety and maintaining boundaries.
I highly recommend her!

Ami is incredibly warm and nonjudgmental, knowledgeable and insightful. I looked forward to getting her insight and reassurance every week, and I learned a lot about myself and my relationship during our sessions. Therapists that I've seen in the past utilized the "you talk, I furrow my brow and listen" approach which wasn't helping me. Ami was willing to offer gentle feedback and guidance which was always incredibly helpful. I highly recommend Ami!

I was referred to Ami's group by my own therapist, who recognized that Ami possessed expertise working with individuals who struggle with similar issues as I do, particularly codependency, trauma and ptsd. Ami is extremely knowledgeable, kind, warm and safe. I was part of her ACON - adult child of narcissists - group for three months and it proved to be both a gentle AND powerful format to address our personal struggles. Ami's use of somatic exercises, her wealth of knowledge and willingness to share these resources with the group, were extremely effective in learning to ground ourselves

I was pretty lost when I went in for therapy and Ami was not the first therapist I'd met with trying to deal with my anxiety and relationship troubles. She was the first one however that helped me understand that my mother had narcissistic personality disorder. This in addition to gently telling me it sounded like most of the men I'd picked out for dating and partners were also narcissists helped explain so much. It's not like this fixed things overnight or anything, I still seem to be attracted to them and still need to address my other unhealthy ways of coping with my anxiety,

I began seeing Ami when I joined the group she holds for Children of Adult Narcissists. I had been struggling in my life to become emotionally whole and independent and this group and my work with Ami was critical to my continued and personal growth.

The group led by Ami was exactly what I needed to continue to heal from my past. It was a safe place where I could share my feelings and bond with others who understood what it was like to grow up as I did. The group was a haven that helped me immensely, particularly with my self-esteem and in my professional growth. I realized I was projecting a

Sometimes the weight of the world just seems to cave in on you. Sometimes your life just seems out of sort. Sometimes you just need someone to confide in. Those are the times that I turned to Ami and in turn felt relief, invigorated, and inspired. She was patient and supportive. I appreciated the fact that she offered a comfy couch and a listening ear, but also art therapy and hypnotherapy, both of which I strongly recommend. I almost don't want to put this out there, in fear that if I ever need to see her again, she will be booked and not have time for me! But I can't keep her

I'm pleased that I attended Ms. Hartley's group on narcissism. Narcissism was a slippery concept for me. Ms Hartley's narcissism group helped me understand and appreciate the devastating effects of the narcissist. Now, I'm able to identify narcissistic behavior. I'm able to let go of narcissistic messages and be emotionally content. If knowledge is power, finding knowledge is empowerment. That's exactly what resulted from my participation with Ami Hartley's group therapy on narcissism. Thank you!

I've had the pleasure of working with Ami and although I don't write too many reviews on here, felt inspired! She is patient, caring, and incredibly insightful. She used a variety of techniques to support the challenges I was working on. I loved how flexible and capable she was as a practitioner- combining art therapy, hypnosis, and just great listening has produced some incredible results. I highly recommend Ami. She really is an expert and overall wonderful.

I saw Ami to work on some relationship issues and found Ami to be very supportive, helpful and insightful. She offers realistic suggestions and provided direction in making more positive life choices. But most importantly Ami is very compassionate and I felt heard by her. I find I am no longer repeating negative patterns and have been able to move on. I highly recommend her!

I've had motion sickness my whole life.
Road trips in the car would lead to hours of nausea and
vomiting, especially on winding roads. I even had to pull over and yack while on the road from Santa Cruz and I was driving! I tried a patch in the past and I took it off after a few hours because it made me feel "sick".
I decided to give hypnotherapy a try after hearing a story that my partner told me. She told me about how her mother smoked while carrying her for 9 months in the womb and then continued to smoke decades later. But then with one hypnotherapy session, her mom had quit entirely
