A Detroit native with hair on his mind, Bobby Fintor loved hair as a child and has always thought he is lucky to love what he does. At 14, Bobby had his first brush with hair as a hair model where he acquired blue locks. Thus began his fascination with hair, color and texture. He studied at the David Pressley School of Cosmetology in Royal Oak, Michigan learning to work with all hair types, textures and styles.
He then traveled to Europe and Asia. He worked in Osaka, Japan where he learned Asian techniques and styling of hair. It was during his travels in Asia that Bobby developed a keen interest in the environment, having seen first hand the destruction that waste and chemicals have on the beauty of the Earth.

I have been going to Bobby for about 8 months now and am very impressed. I have extremely sensitive skin and needed to find a place that had not only organic but low chemical hair dyes. I was looking to try traditional dies without PPD ect as well as Henna hair dye.
I have had great luck working with bobby on my color and find him to be extremely kind and easy to talk to. He is super open to trying new products and helping me figure out what exactly is causing a reaction on my skin.
He is very conveniently located in the East Village and I always enjoy our conversations as well as the results

I've been going to Bobby for over a decade now - started out wanting highlights using natural products that wouldn't fade after a few washes...and Bobby delivered with a smile! Since then I've stuck with him through several salons till he finally opened his own Organic Lounge 11 a few years ago. I've been going to Bobby for almost 10 years for haircuts and highlights and I highly recommend him. I have also been taking my two sons to him for haircuts since they were little - he's done a great job with their hair from elementary school-age to now as teen and tween. He listens to what you ask for and shares his expertise and experience about will work best. He takes time to do things the right way. And his salon is a wonderful space and has a great location.

Bobby did an AMAZING job with my hair. It was such a great experience and I will definitely be back again. The products he uses are vegan, cruelty-free, organic, and free of harsh chemicals such as ammonia. I went from brunette to blonde in only 2 hours, and am so happy with the result. I initially went to Bobby because he offers the Realisse straightener (so excited to find a vegan alternative to keratin!) Bobby did a fantastic job with my super thick, frizzy hair, and he offered me some great styling tips and instructions as well as some new products to try. I had some ideas of what I was looking for style-wise but was a bit unsure, and Bobby did a great job of listening to what I wanted and giving me his input, too. I was welcomed with a tea and chocolate covered gingerbread cookie. During my consult, I was so tired after a long day that I wasn't very clear with how I wanted my color to be done. I basically had some blonde highlights hand painted/dark brown roots growing out. The contrast was becoming too noticeable and my blonde looked brassy. I can proudly say that Bobby does my hair!!! I needed a spirit boost and decided to color my hair and I knew that there was only one person that I could trust to lighten my hair, Bobby Fintor. I sent him a picture of the color that I wanted in advance. However, I developed last minute jitters about coloring my black hair, in color and texture, blonde. First of all, he's transparent about the products he uses, and because he's a one-man business instead of a salon, he's honest, and doesn't push products on his customers. I used to go to an "organic" salon on the Upper East Side, and frankly, my hair was in much worse shape after those highlights than it's ever been after Bobby's. In fact, so far, Bobby's color/highlights have been leaving my hair feeling refreshed -- which is pretty rare, speaking from 5-6 years of highlighting experience.

I have been going to Bobby for 6 years! He is the best - always professional and eager to please his clients. Once I had my hair done at a "blow dry only" salon. I left crying bc my hair looked terrible and ran to Bobby's!! He quickly fixed my blowout and I have NEVER gone to anyone else but him since that happened. His cuts grow in really well and I always leave happy and feeling beautiful!

I just had my first salon experience with Bobby this week to have my hair colored and I walked away very happy. Bobby is extremely personable and I felt right at home. It was great to have one on one attention and not feel rushed. I was looking for a more organic choice for hair coloring and wanting to stay away from the harsher chemicals. I am a brunette and walked away with what I like to call "magazine brunette" - rich brown with a beautiful shine. I am looking forward to getting my haircut next and will continue to go to Bobby for color. I finally found a great salon!

I have known Bobby for over 2 years now & he is just a great genuine person who really knows how to make hair look its best! My strands would not be what they are today without Bobby! He is the best of the best! It is his caring nature and attention to detail that allow me to trust my locks with him completely! And when I want a trim he really does chop just exactly what I want - which is not very much and I appreciate that so much! I chose Bobby based on the all 5 star yelp reviews, but I had a different experience than other reviewers. I went in wanting to cut a significant amount hair and was looking for some input from Bobby about what would best flatter my face. He showed no desire to have a discussion about styling, just asked how much we were cutting and went to work. As he was was cutting I said all I care about is that it is not too big.

Bobby has been cutting my hair (and my husband's) for years now.
When I moved to NY I left my hair stylist of over a decade and it was tough to find someone that I could trust... until I found Bobby.

Bobby is the ONLY stylist I TRUST to color my hair. He is an expert at creating beautifully natural color with the look of a youthful sheen. Even when my color begins to grow out, there is never any harsh line of colored to natural hair. My hair has never looked better!

I've been taking my son to get his hair cut by Bobby for 2 years now and would never go anywhere else. His first haircut was at one of those places where they made him sit in a car and watch a DVD. That was the WORST... none of it worked for us! Bobby is the best. He has a lot of patience and does exactly what I want. My son's hair always looks great and is never too short. My son is very active and can't sit still for long. Bobby does a great job in a short amount of time on my squirmy boy. I'm always impressed. We like his hair very stylish and to have some length. I've been seeing Bobby since 2001. His color is vibrant and fun (and organic! No itchy scalps or nasty fumes) and his cuts even better, they grow out beautifully. I have very fine, very straight hair and never thought my hair could look so good! Plus he's great fun to hang out with.
I moved to California in 2008 and miss him terribly. Any chance I get I'm in his salon chair...whichever salon it might be ;) He'll be coming out this May to do my hair for my wedding, that's how talented this man is!
