Services
We believe that businesses make the world a better place through the goods and services they provide. In Hawaii, we have the harshest business climate, so our services have a big impact by enabling companies to focus on what they do best. Community associations make people's lives better and we help boards of directors enforce the governing documents, lead effectively, and more!.
We value solutions over billable hours. Our team doesn't perpetuate disputes or dive down rabbit holes to increase their billable time. In fact, we incentivize our team to close cases. During your consultation, we will develop a clear understanding of your legal needs and both your long- and short-term goals.
Many of our clients live on the US mainland or in Canada and they reach out to us after their parents have passed away to find out how to transfer the family's Hawaii property into their names. The legal consequences of mistakes or omissions during the conveyancing process can be significant. Creating a cloud on real property is usually not irreversible but it takes more time and money than doing the correctly the first time.
The legal consequences from mistakes or omissions during the buying process can, in some cases, be irreversible. In most cases, they present difficult and expensive problems to fix. While Hawaii does not require that you hire a real estate attorney, the nominal cost of hiring one to protect your interests in the context of your circumstances is invaluable.

In the end Porter proved to be a greedy money hungry shark like so many others. He cost me lots of money not only in fees but in dropping the ball several times. Will be filing a complaint with the bar association. Find another firm and save yourself lots of grief and money.

I've seen some of Porter's pro bono work through a community organization we both volunteer for. I have used him for my personal business and also referred him to others in my professional network. He is efficient, strategic, and business-focused. My interactions with the rest of his team have been limited, but very positive. I would give 6 stars if I could - great group to work with.

Being out of state, I'm glad I found the DeVries team because they knew how to deal with my parents real estate after they passed and then sell it without a realtor.

Our association is quite large. Our condominium consists of 134 units. Based on our size, we have experienced every kind of problem an association can experience. While we have dealt with many law firms during my tenure as a Board Member, we have chosen DeVries and Associates as our general counsel. We wanted an attorney and law firm that tries to resolves problems first rather than rush to litigation. We wanted a law firm that returns calls right away. We wanted a law firm that does not just practice law, but also looks out for what is in the best interests of our residents and community. Those

For a maritime business owner like myself, litigation is a distraction, a headache, and a great source of anxiety. My general counsel attorneys at DeVries & Associates stay on top of my business. We have monthly "check in calls," where they dive into what my current issues are and how we can solve them effectively and proactively. With D & A on my side, I am well defended, well protected, and I know that I will always have a zealous advocate for my interests. D & A is an invaluable and indispensable part of my team.

DeVries Law Hawaii LLLC has been my small business law firm since the start of my business. They review the contracts, agreements and forms that I use regularly in my business ensuring that my documents are aligned with current legal requirements. They also refine the potential terms and conditions in my contracts which leads to better business dealings with my partners and peace of mind for me at the end of the day.
