Sheldon's Service Station

In a great location with plenty of parking (metered for the most part so bring change with you!) and a wonderful atmosphere, Sheldon's Service Station is a great addition to downtown La Mesa. You order your food/drinks from the walkup counter and the waiter brings the items to your table. The only option for seating would be on their patio, which is covered. The patio is dog friendly and there are plenty of seats. They also have 2 fire tables and heat lamps throughout the patio area.

They make coffees and teas but also provide a small breakfast and lunch menu. In additional, they also have

I got the chorizo bowl with hash browns. The hash browns were nice and crunchy, but they ran out after 5-6 bites. There was maybe 1/2 a cup worth or so? Not enough. It made finishing the bowl awkward because it was super eggy after the potatoes ran out.

I also found a piece of uncooked sausage near the end of my bowl. Hopefully this doesn't give me bubble guts tonight.

The Pico de Gallo was also a few hours too old for my taste.

Wifey got the sausage eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was definitely on the lemony side. I wouldn't order that again.

I wish I lived closer I'd stop here every morning! My pup even left with a piece of yummy bacon! Great breakfast spot, amazing coffee and drink menu. The owner was hanging around talking with some customers and he's just so friendly and kind, I'd support his business any day!

Great atmosphere, the baristas were so nice like they intended to get to know me, delicious food I tried the burrito, sandwich and avo toast!!!! Everything is delicious

Love this place! Service is excellent and staff are friendly and responsive! You know it's your fave cafe when everyone starts to know who you are.

Oh, can we talk muffins? and the ginormous muffin tops that come with said muffins! SO much goodness!!! Banana is my go-to after ever bike ride!

I visited this establishment in late September 2021. As my breakfast burrito plate was being served by an employee, the meal (salsa in particular) slid off the plate and onto my lap before reaching the table. The food runner/employee was very apologetic and insisted that I take a business card and he would "pay for my dry cleaning." No biggie--it was an accident and thankfully I had a shirt on underneath my sweater. Unfortunately, the replaced-rushed breakfast burrito actually even had a hair in it.

Ohhhh my! The name of this place is a little odd, not going to lie. I was on the fence about going. The food, OMG the food. It was so delicious! Everyone in my party absolutely loved their food. I also had an espresso that was delicious, no acidic coffee here! I took a chocolate muffin to go and it was so good I could cry! I can't wait to be back.

Service and Food were good. Could not relax while eating because of flies swarming around the food. My wife also observed flies inside the food case at the ordering counter. We were there on Oct 21, 2021.

We love popping into Sheldon's for an early Sunday morning treat. I love their cold brew and my son loves their yummy pastries. The staff is always quick and efficient while also really friendly. Some of their menu items are a little pricey for what you get, but other than that we love it here.

AN OUTSTANDING EXPERIENCE ! A few years ago my wife and I headed over to La Mesa to drop off our Gaggia espresso machine at Express Fix Coffee for a repair job. Because we missed out on our morning lattes at home my wife looked up reviews for somewhere to grab lattes and Sheldon's Service Station was our choice. And of course it used to be a gas station until it was repurposed as a cafe. We arrived around midday and it was pretty busy. It started with a friendly smile and then Beth the barista made us 2 "knocked it out of the ballpark" lattes. My wife and I were sitting at a table

I sometimes forget about this place, because I'm not nearby often, but when I do stop by here, it makes me happy! Their chai latte is great, their sandwiches and salads are really good, and their muffins are huge! I appreciate their misters and fans in warm weather and their space heaters in cold weather. Well done, Sheldon! 😊

Tasty Food
I scrolled across an advertisement for a Sheldons on Instagram I decided to look into it further. The ad offered a buy one get one free. My husband and I went over for lunch and loved the food. We both had a bacon, avocado, tomato and lettuce (blat) sandwich. It was very fresh and the bacon was cooked to perfection!! I really enjoyed the fresh avocado (not store bought) that was spread on the perfectly toasted sourdough bread. They have a few selections for the side. I chose the tomato bisque soup, which was heavenly. Overall, we will definitely be going back for more.

First time there. Large portions, food was excellent and great place to sit and visit. We’ll be back soon. Had lunch this time but want to try breakfast next. What a gem in downtown La Mesa.

Great little gem in La Mesa. Great customer service. Food is very fresh and flavorful. They have a ton of coffee options almost with multiple milk options. I did not (sad face) get to try anything from their bakery but I will next time! They have muffins and cookies. Also have alcohol if you are a Sunday funday looking for a good time. Def try this spot out if you're in the area, you will be highly satisfied

Love this place my family goes here all the time for breakfast or just coffee. they have great coffee.

Cool spot in la Mesa. Abocado toast is always something I can eat, so this place has a tasty avocado toast, coffee is also great I had the local Fav bumble bee lattea must. We also tried the cortado if you like espresso try it, we had a Sheldon's special avocado toast not sure if it's always on the menu but boy was it tasty! We also tried the chorizo bowl hash browns also was tasty.

This was my 1st time visiting this establishment. My high school classmate Invited me for my birthday which is in a few days for a nice breakfast. Our meals were great and I love the menu and it looks like I'll be coming back for more.

Super cute local place and really nice service. Also a big menu! I got the bumblebee latte and it was okay, far from the best coffee I've had but I would go back and try some other things!!

Delicious moist muffins that are soo addicting! And still moist and delicious the next day which was impressive. The coffee also hit the spot, not too sweet when we asked for it to be half sweet. They also had milk alternatives such as almond and oat milk. They had a nice big patio but unfortunately we couldn't use but I definitely want to be back in the near future to hopefully get to enjoy some coffee on the patio!

We had a bit of time to waste and walk around, when we came across Sheldon's. The set up is great! COVID prevention protocols were awesome! Staff was friendly and service was fast, street parking so bring your coins.

I ordered a bagel and lox slice salmon with a latte, the salmon vegan was great, the latte was delicious and flavorful. My son ordered an açaí bowl and an earl grey ice tea. He loved the açaí bowl but the only reason I am not giving a 5 star review. He was given a hot tea! So hot he could not drink it, and we tried to get the staff attention but they had a bit of a rush
