We ordered this afternoon for lunch. The chili and the Mexican roast beef sandwich. Usually we like our food but today it was really really bad. My chili was super watery like runny soup and didn’t even have beans in it. It was gross. My fiancé’s sandwich had nasty avocado chunks that had a lot of black spots in it. I can’t believe we were given this to eat.

Loved this spot! We were looking for a spot to grab brunch on the way to the zoo and this was right off our path.
The food was excellent and wanted to go back a second time on my 4 day trip to SD. We had the Chicken and Waffles. They had great flavor.
Our server was very friendly and never let us feel neglected.
I would definitely suggest this restaurant to anyone who is in the area!

Outstanding service. The vibe is warm, friendly and welcoming. My server James was brilliant, navigating a very busy section efficiently and cheerfully. The veggie breakfast mess was delicious with a thick rich veggie chili with garbanzos and kidney beans garnished with incredibly fresh pico de Gallo, served over breakfast potatoes. It was hearty, spicy and delicious.

Food was Luke warm, I've had better service at a 7 eleven, one person serving and taking orders he seemed stressed out, and was rude,we had to go and get refills ask for to go box and bill, not once did they check on us. Will never return, maybe everything was different when Guy from Food network was there, plenty of eateries in there neighborhood.

I've been dinning here for years. In the heart of Hillcrest it's one of the best down home cooking in SanDiego. The food is excellent and so is the service. The owner takes pride in the restaurant and works along side the staff. Great for breakfast lunch and dinner. I'm always happy eating at Crest Cafe.
