Holy Grail Winery
Holy Grail Wines are made by hand with the same European traditions used by ancestors in the 1800's. The grapes for our wines are hand picked and pressed using an old Italian basket press. Our wine is bottled straight from a Missouri oak barrel. We are a small production boutique winery, committed to crafting wines of superior quality with a strong emphasis on customer service and product education.
Services
VIOGNIER (Dry White) Rich and buttery, with mouth-watering notes of apricot, peach and honeysuckle and tangerine. Viognier has a lovely combination of perfumed, floral aromatics and stone fruit flavors which help to give it a rounded, smooth finish. ROSE (Dry) Brilliant pale pink color leads to a light and refreshing wine with floral notes of strawberry, honeydew & rose petals.
Once you taste their wine, you will definitely be a repeat customer. We have traveled extensively in Napa Valley, France and Germany and the wines produced by Holy Grail Winery are the finest we have found outside of Europe. The best wines we have ever had in Missouri, Iowa, California, or any where else!
The phrase "Holy Grail" has many meanings and can be interpreted in many ways. One of the many dictionary references shows the definition as " any ultimate, but elusive, goal pursued as in a quest". For many years Lonnie and his family would compete with each other as to who could make the best wine.

Worse place ever ! They turned us away when they had plenty of space because of covid but they had a bunch of people there. The worse part is she blamed covid but had no mask on…. So not go here !

Poor customer service. The owner was rude and wouldn't let us come in the open room and wouldn't let us use the restroom or wash our hands with soap when my friend had grease on her hands. She also made us stay in this tiny room instead of the nice big room and bar area so we could social distance or sit down and relax. Uncomfortable situation and very disappointing.

We had nine women in a van pulling up to try this winery. Nine women who had just spent $300 at the last winery we visited. We were in for the long haul and we were out to buy wine. From the moment we got out of the van, the female owner greeted us with a sour disposition. She would not allow us to spread out in the large room and crammed us all into a very tiny tasting room. This would have been fine except she was just not warm, apologetic, or inviting. She started offering tastings but only to some of us. She continued offering the tastings to just a few of us throughout the time we were there

I found some fantastic wines here. Also, on a day when most wineries were over packed, Holy Grail was spacious and relaxing.

Wonderful experience. Great ambiance and setting. Excellent wine. The chocolate and wine tasting was fun and tasty. We visited three wineries today and this was easily our favorite. Less commercialized with a focus on the wine.

My husband and I went on a winery hunt and found this little treasure! The owners were delightful and knowledgeable. Their wines are very good! I loved the Sauvignon blanc. The hubs loved all of their red wines but especially their Norton. We both loved their chocolate port! It had a wonderful caramel flavor! We were also impressed at the size of their wine bottles versus the price.

Fun, interesting wines to find in Missouri. The owners are knowledgeable. At least some of the grapes are imported and not local. Overall, I enjoyed my time there and holding 'the grail.'

This is the winery of all wineries in the area. Each wine is very distinct in flavor and taste. Lonnie explains each wine and how he makes it. It’s always nice to hear how the wine is made and what goes into the process. Sharon knows each wine and does a wonderful chocolate pairing. The Irish chocolates were amazing. We ended up staying at the winery for quite awhile visiting with them. We left with two cases of wine! We will be returning for more amazing wine, and the company of two amazing winery owners, Lonnie and Sharon. Holy Grail is a must stop when you are looking for a winery that is

Excellent wine paired with excellent chocolates in a quaint setting. The owners accommodated a special request for my Mom's 70th birthday so that she could enjoy the tasting with her daughters. We all really enjoyed it! This was one of 6 different wineries we visited over the weekend and the most delicious. Will do it again!

Hubby and I planned a weekend trip to Augusta and visited many wineries. This was hands down the best experience we had. Wonderful and personable owners and fantastic wine!!! Definitely a must place to go to! We'll definitely be back just to visit Holy Grail! Loved it!

Wonderful little winery, different from any other in the area. The tastings are a great value and the chocolates that they are paired with are decadent and delicious. Although it doesn't boast the view of some other locations, the small- town feel and high- quality of the wine definitely shows and sets Holy Grail apart.

We stumbled on this place and the owners/winemakers were there. They were lovely and gracious hosts. They asked us our preference and honored what we liked. I loved that they have pairing with samples of foods that enhanced the wine. We loved to hear about the process of harvest and old school processing of the grapes. We loved several bottles and took them home with us! One of the bottles we served with friends over dessert, the Raspberry Pinot with cheesecake laced with dark chocolate. Even though this is not a sweet wine it was a perfect pairing. Thanks to the owners for the Recommendations

This winery is a hidden gem! Small but the excellent wines make up for that. The Norton is unbelievable. The owners ( and winemakers) are onsite and can tell you everything about the wines. Also, they offer a wine and chocolate pairing that is out of this world.
Bring your own food because they don't have a kitchen. Or just fill yourself with wine and chocolate.

Different than any other winery in the Agusta/Defiance area, but not in a bad way! Excellent hospitality and a fascinating story. Lonnie and his wife have crafted a beautiful place and the wines are rich and flavorful. Even if you don't drink wine it is still enjoyable with their chocolate and biscotti. I am so tickled to have found this gem and look forward to making the trip to the Holy Grail Winery for years to come!!

After reading the previous rave reviews, I was excited to make this our last wine trail stop for the afternoon. Augusta is an adorable town with lots of charm--what a lovely place to have a winery!

From the second we walked in the door it was a strange experience. The advertised special for the day was a $10 wine/chocolate tasting. Since we just had lunch, we weren't really interested in the pairing. No problem, we were informed that regular tastings were free of charge. Ok, good deal!
We were asked what kind of wine we preferred and I replied (which I think is a pretty standard reply) "

This was our first trip to Augusta and to The Holy Grail. It's a super small little winery but it's really cool once you get inside. They serve you most of the wine out of cool canisters instead of the usual bottle. We did the $5 tasting as I'm not a huge fan of chocolate. They have mostly dry wines, but there were enough on the semi-sweet side that I was happy. I ended up purchasing a bottle of Chambourcin that was really tasty. My boyfriend was really impressed and he said there was not one variety that he didn't like, which is really unusual. He ended up purchasing 2 bottles

New favorite spot on the Augusta trail! What a hidden gem! My family and I loved all their wines, which is a rare occurrence. The owner serves all of the wines in vintage decanters, which is a great touch. Don't miss this place when you're driving through Augusta!

Holy Grail has been closed most of the days I go antiquing and wine tasting around Augusta and Defiance. Their hours leave something to be desired; I recommend calling to verify that they'll be open before making a special trip.

I visited for Augusta's fall festival (or whatever it is called) a few weeks ago. Lo and behold, Holy Grail was open! I went in for a free tasting of a couple of wines, but I liked the second wine so much that I opted for their full tasting, which includes $5 off a bottle of wine, or something like that. There were a couple of good sweet reds, but I must recommend

Really appreciated their wines and ended up purchasing the Rougen (who can't like a wine with the description including black forest cake). All their wines ran on the sweeter side, but I like that so that worked! Nice seating area outside, cut little place. We were excited to have found The Holy Grail!

There are several wineries in this area and they all tend to blend together by the end of the night. Fortunately, Holy Grail really stood out in my mind. I tend to really like small tasting rooms that are quaint and noise-free, which is exactly what I found with their cozy and welcoming tasting room. The staff were really friendly and poured us several dark wines (and one white wine). We also tried a wine poured into a chocolate cup (yum!). I tend to like sweet dark wines, so I really enjoyed this place (and you will too if your tastes are similar to mine). More specifically, we really loved their
