In May of 2017, during a trip to Oahu, I was approached by a street vendor, who was selling jewelry. The woman asked, if I would like to learn what my name means in native Hawaiian. Of course, I had to give a brief description of what my name means in Bulgarian first, and apart from the Orthodox Saint Petka, Petya also loosely translates as 'of Friday' and I was also born on a Friday.
The woman taught me how to say Poalima - it sounded so incredibly euphonious, I felt it in my bones. Poalima's purpose, and Petya's reward from this work, is seeing people embody their true values, elbow themselves some space into this world, and stand unapologetically in their own two shoes, content.

Adverse experiences at any age can manifest a multitude of undesirable consequences, causing distress and disturbance in our lives. Symptoms can often resemble other clinically significant conditions such as depressive, anxiety, or dissociative disorders. Self-medicating attempts can further cloud the diagnosis, thus a formal assessment is critical in establishing proper follow-up recommendations and defining the course of treatment.

Petya is my colleague and mentor. She has shown a very even demeanor. She will help me and explain something multiple times if necessary and in ways that are easy to understand. She is respectful of others and their feelings. She guided me through the complex behavioral health care record system with patience, showing her intelligence and a thorough knowledge of the system. I would expect that these qualities make her an excellent counsellor.

Petya and I worked together at the Skokomish Tribe. Her knowledge, experience, and dedication to her clients show through in everything that she does. I've learned something new from every conversation I've had with Petya. She has a way of stating simply what many of us have trouble voicing, and gently challenging everyone (her coworkers, her clients, and herself) to be the best versions of themselves. It is an honor to know her and to have worked with her. I can't recommend her services enough.

Petya and I both work within the mental health field and I have had the opportunity to know her in this capacity for a number of years dating back to graduate school. She is intuitive, creative, and empathetic. In addition to her solid clinical skills, she also has life experience and "muscle memory" that may be helpful within the therapeutic realm.

Petya is my clinical supervisor and is always supportive of, and patient with, my growth. She asks reflective questions that help me develop better insight and she has a broad range of knowledge that contributes to the development of my skillset as well. I always feel like my clients are better served because of the work we do together.

Amazing Therapist! She is attentive to the needs of the client and has experience in different modalities of care. A bonus is her experience in Chemical Dependency and working with individuals across a wide spectrum of mental health disorders. True person-centered, wrap-around, behavioral health care. Highly reccomended.
