That must have been how the parents of the Montessori School of Fremont (MSF), located in Southern Alameda County, saw things in 1998. They were so pleased with the academic and social development and success of their children at MSF that they wanted Montessori schooling to continue beyond the fourth grade.
Thankfully, a synergy occurred that year. As the owners of MSF began to concretely lay out plans to expand their school to include middle and high schools, they were approached by some parents of their students. A year and nine months later, classes for seventh graders began in the middle school. In 2001, the middle school had an enrollment of 12 students and a staff of two teachers.

How can a small school you have never heard of be a better choice for your child than a large one that you hear about all of the time? Alsion is a small school, with a full time faculty of five highly qualified teachers serving a junior high community of only 48 students. As you might expect from a school with student/teacher ratio 10 to 1, students receive more personal attention than at a larger institution.
Alsion Montessori Middle School is a program designed to address the specific needs of the adolescent learner and to help the student become an independent and responsible young adult. Adolescents are in a time of flux intellectually, physically and socially, and their learning environment must reflect this.
The Alsion Middle School academic environment is interactive, experiential and individualized. Teachers develop detailed study guides for the syllabus at the beginning of a term, outlining key content, assignments, deadlines and exam dates. Working from these lesson overviews, students work individually and in groups.
Thank you for your interest in Alsion Montessori. We welcome students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. You do not need to have prior experience with Montessori education to attend our Middle or High School. It is our belief that students from Alsion Montessori Middle School are best suited for admissions into our early college high school Program.
The Alsion Early College High School is an accelerated academic program in which students complete their 10th, 11th and 12th grades at Alsion and California Community Colleges (CCC). Each Early College student takes a combination of Alsion high-school courses and between 12 to 22 units of college courses every semester.

This is a school that my grand daughter started off as a pretty "shakey" 7th grader. After the first year
of serious hard work she went from a solid C+- B- student(she did get a D during the 7th grade in one course) Her teacher gave her work, a fun computer generated math program that the teacher actually can see the progress online. Her teacher told her " If you find you can't log on to the program, you have completed and are capable of doing the work" She has been a 3,75- 4.00
student from the 8th grade on. She is coming into her senior year. I am VERY pleased with the schools academics. Alsion

Alsion is the best little school you've never heard of. Where else can a student graduate from high school with up to 72 units of college credit? Three out of four Alsion Early College graduates are accepted for admission by the University of California. The only way to get into their Early College High School Program is to matriculate from Alsion's Montessori Junior High, grades 7 through 9.

I am a pleased parent of a student at this school. Most of Alsion’s enrollment comes from word of mouth referral. If you encountered our school on the Internet, you have found a hidden gem of a private school.
When I was searching for a school for my child, I was looking for something small, where my child wouldn’t get lost in the crowd, where she could gain confidence by having a voice in class discussions, participate in extracurricular activities, and make meaningful friendships with other motivated kids.
Alsion’s small size is its greatest strength. With an enrollment of about 48 students

I am the mother of a 12 year old boy. I have been looking for a middle and high school for my son and I am so elated that I have found a great school for him: Alsion.
Many of my friends ask me why I chose Alsion over public schools and other private schools in the Bay area. So here they are.
Before reaching the conclusion that Alsion is the best choice for my son, I did research on several schools and observed classes being taught at Alsion and other schools. I have given this issue a lot of thoughts. My goal is to find a school that offer personal attention to each student, so my son will not

How can a small school that you never heard of before be a better choice for your child than a large one that you hear about all of the time? Parents usually discover Alsion after they checked out all of the "Designer Label" private schools and found them lacking.
