Brian Tai, better known as "Bowtai, " is the owner and operator of Bowtai Fitness. He is a personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach, nutrition coach, and recovery practitioner. Brian has been coaching professionally since 2012. He received his Bachelor's degree from George Mason University in Kinesiology and Biology.
He continued his education becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (NSCA), Certified Powerlifting Coach (USAPL), Certified Pain-Free Performance Specialist (Rusin), Certified Nutrition Coach (PN), and certified in Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (RockTape). Brian and his team, offer all of their services in his private gym, District Barbell in Fairfax, VA.

I've been trained with Brian for more than 6 months. His workout program is progressive and specifically tailored to my personal needs. Therefore, I have enjoyed working out with him a lot so far. I gained a lot of muscle; apparently, I can see my progression. He is the best personal trainer I've ever met - friendly, professional, and caring. I highly highly recommend Brian to anyone who needs a personal coach who really cares about you!

Brian is a GREAT personal trainer, but he goes above and beyond just the basics. One word comes to mind when working with Brian...VALUE. He knows what he's doing (and has been doing it for YEARS), provides you with a complete workout plan, meal plan and best of all he keeps you accountable. I'm a newbie in the strength training world, and Brian has been incredible in teaching me everything I need to know to continuously improve. I highly recommend his services for anyone, at any skill level.

I've been training with Brian and Rachel for about 6 months. They're both super personable and clearly know what they're talking about. They keep me accountable, and really push me during workouts. Also, the workouts change frequently enough so I never really plateau. I always feel like I'm improving and getting stronger every time I go in. Plus the gym is clean and nice and filled with really chill people so it's a pleasant environment to work out in. :)

Brian is a top notch trainer - as someone with lifelong weight issues I have had my share of experience and no trainer has ever given me the confidence in my abilities like Brian has. This review is of my experience with trainer/proprietor Brian! I worked with him on my fitness and nutrition goals for several months. I initially planned to do in-person personal training but due to my crazy work schedule, we weren’t really able to find a mutually workable time. Fortunately he also offered affordable virtual training options that allowed me to progress toward my goals without having to meet in-person. Brian and I still met face to face at the gym to discuss my goals, tour the space, answer questions etc but everything else was able to be done remotely. I was throughly impressed

This gym is wonderful, and Brian is an incredible trainer and nutrition coach. I spent a few months training with Brian and went from knowing absolutely nothing about weight training, and having no definition in my body AT ALL, to feeling confident around weights and actually SEEING the progress in my body. Highly recommended!

Brian is such a motivating coach! I contacted him to get back into shape since I had put on about 30 pounds (thank you relationship weight, COVID, and Chick Fil A!). Within weeks of him setting me up on a diet plan and workout regimen, I was seeing results. And they just kept compounding. Soon I was back to where I felt “tiny” again, and like myself. One of the great things about Brian is, his coaching makes your goal feel almost easy. When I would mess up for a day or two, he was understanding and would offer suggestions to get me back on track.

Bowtai Fitness has been a joy to be a part of. I am glad I made the decision to join and have Brian as my trainer. He has been anything but exceptional. It’s been a great way to learn and achieve my goals as Brian is knowledgeable about the body and nutrition. He also loves what he does! After having two kids, my body wasn’t the same and I realized that I needed to do more than my usual cardio workouts. I always wanted to lift weights but didn’t know what to do. Brian changed all that. He took the time to listen to my concerns, inquired about my health, and helped me define my goals. I really love our training sessions and the results. Brian is really good about being present and making sure that I have the right form, appropriate weights and am pushing myself. I love that his approach is simple, effective, and tailored to my body. I've been training with Brian (Bowtai Fitness) starting during the pandemic. He's helped me with my speed, agility, power and endurance when it comes to my fighting. He constantly challenges me with new programs and keeps me working harder every week. He's professional and beyond knowledgeable about everything from physical health, nutrition and recovery. I've done a lot of research on personal trainers in Northern Virginia and Brian is top notch! I stumbled upon Brian's business (Bowtai Fitness) on Reddit and reached out via email to ask some questions about his process.
