Individual therapy can be helpful with issues that are hard to face alone. Individual therapy is also called therapy, psychotherapy, psychosocial therapy, talk therapy, and counseling. Therapy can help you overcome obstacles to your well-being. It can increase positive feelings, such as compassion and self-esteem.
As the quote from Virginia Satir suggests, family therapy is necessary to address family pain and heal a family's wounds. We all start this life with a family, whether that family is composed of blood relatives, adopted parents, or a foster family. This family that we acquire when we are born influences every aspect of our lives, from our first moments to our last.
Making the choice to go to couples counseling can feel like a very big step. It involves admitting that things are not perfect in your partnership, which is often tough to do and scary to admit.

And if you are not particularly familiar with what therapy is all about, it can feel mysterious and confusing, not to mention it can involve considerable effort - finding an appropriate provider, figuring out insurance and other financial aspects of the commitment, coming up with a time to fit into everyone's schedule.
Some of the most confusing and complex issues surround the word "sex". Whether you are looking to understand your own sexuality in a deeper way, process confusion of gender, or discover how to feel more at peace with who you are as a sexual being, counseling can be a helpful outlet and tool to help you achieve this.
