For municipal water & wastewater operators, reliability is paramount. As a result, typical associated control systems include telemetry equipment to monitor the status of remote stations around the clock, and redundancy equipment not often required for industrial manufacturing applications. Because abnormal conditions are of great concern, and because stations are frequently not staffed 24/7, alarm notification systems are of great importance.
The work that farms and farmers do is responsible for feeding the world. Overlaid with that incredible responsibility are the manifold challenges that farming operations face constantly: unpredictable weather patterns, varying commodity pricing, restrictions on chemical and water usage, and rising labor costs.
As automation professionals, we're lucky to be the people who get to twiddle the bits that bring equipment to life. As equipment becomes more sophisticated and complex, the software that runs it increases in both intricacy and importance. Most modern manufacturing equipment relies heavily on automation electronics and software.
