Services
Our practice has roots as far back at the early 20th century and was established in Galveston in 1979 when it was purchased by Dr. Matocha. Dr. Ullman joined the team in 1982, and the doctors have since continued the tradition of friendly, caring, and effective treatment. We have been at the current office since 1988, and are proud of the established and traditional nature of our practice.

Thirty-year member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Dickinson, Served three terms on the church board and one year as Senior Deacon. Instituted an "at cost" eyeglass program for several Lions Clubs in the area saving thousands of dollars over the years. Pre-Optometry at Western New Mexico University in Silver City, New Mexico from Fall 1970 through Spring 1972.

The WORST service ever. I had Initially scheduled my appointment here due to great reviews. Dr. Matocha was okay but his staff made everything so much worse. Consult and exam went great but at the end, Dr. Matocha asked to see my previous prescription and I pulled up exactly what my other doctor had prescribed but apparently that was not good enough. He asked me to go home and confirm what was on my contacts box. I had asked him if it would take like a week to hear back from them and he told me it would just be a couple days to get the trial. I had called back the next day and called multiple times

Dr. Matocha and his staff have taken care of my family's and my vision needs for many years. Their personal service cannot be any better. I highly recommend them to anyone for your eye care needs. We now live off the island, but the trip to Galveston is still worth it to get the care and attention they provide.

We have been going to Ullman and Matocha for over 20 years, and are very pleased to have the consistency of the same optometrist, the high level of service and expertise. When I had an occular issue I was very grateful to have someone familiar whose advice and guidance was accurate and top notch. I appreciate being able to stop in to have glasses adjusted or repaired by courteous staff on the Island.

The staff is super friendly, and Dr. Matocha is the best eye doctor I’ve ever had, and I say this because he actually cares and even goes as far to help you find the best design glasses for you! He actually picked out my last pair I purchased and it’s like he knew my style.
If you want a comfortable, positive, and overall grand eye doctor experience, I recommend Dr. Matocha 150%.

Dr. Matocha and his staff are amazing people! The service they provide is absolutely the best all around! I was new to the area and was starting things out on my own and I wasn’t sure about the insurance lingo and the front desk receptionist explained everything to me in detailed and helped me so much, she had so much patiences with me and taught me so much, she went above and beyond to help me get seen.
