Over 45 years ago, Dr. Mendelson and his father decided to create a cartoon character to help reduce the anxiety many people feel about hearing loss. Even with his big ears, Mr. Honey struggled to hear well until he decided to check-in with The Mendelson Group and check-out his hearing health. Hearing impairment currently affects 10% of the population and is the third most common chronic health condition in the United States.
While many adults routinely check their blood pressure, their cholesterol levels, and maybe even their eyes on an annual basis, most people fail to regularly check their hearing. Many adults are suffering daily with a hearing loss and they just don't know it. What the smart people are doing is finding out where they're at by getting regular hearing tests and then treating their hearing loss early.

Services
For over 47 years, our well respected practice has proudly been a comprehensive community resource. Continuing education, a professional and caring staff, state-of-the-art technology, and a commitment to patients are just some of the reasons The Mendelson Group is highly respected. Our on-going patient commitment is reflected in the visits we make to nursing homes and senior living residences.
The Mendelson Group was one of the first private audiology practices in the area. Since 1972, we've been providing professional and caring services to the people of Maryland, D.C. and Virginia. You can even schedule a visit at your school, home, medical facility, nursing home or office. A full hearing evaluation is the first step towards better hearing and the sooner you take steps to address hearing loss the better.
As soon as you recognize that your ability to hear is compromised, make an appointment with our hearing professionals to have a full hearing evaluation. This is the first step towards better hearing and the sooner you take steps to address hearing loss the better. At the time of the hearing evaluation, a case history will be taken to determine how much your hearing problem impacts your day-to-day life as well as the lives of your family.
The results from your hearing test will provide the hearing care professional information on what sounds you may be missing or hearing. The results of this testing will also allow the hearing care professional to make the best treatment recommendations. If your hearing test reveals a permanent hearing loss, hearing aids may be recommended.
Once you have selected your hearing aids after an evaluation, your hearing professional will program them, based on your hearing test results, to meet your hearing needs. This appointment will generally take at least one hour, possibly more, so ensure you allot enough time. It is also a good idea to bring a family member or close friend to the hearing aid fitting so they can help remember all the information that is given and be a support to you.
