Services
Cafe Madrid was first located in the Black Diamond Center on 3900 South, in 2003. Then, Gabrielle and Todd McAfee built the current Cafe Madrid, from the ground up, on Highland Drive in 2011. Proudly run as a family owned and operated restaurant, Andrea Mier, daughter of Gabrielle McAfee, currently manages the restaurant with the community of Cafe Madrid at heart.
Classic Spanish saffron-seasoned rice dish cooked with seafood, meats and/or a combination of the two. It is garnished with roasted red bell peppers, lemons, and oranges. Organic Mixed Greens topped with Crispy Chicken, Diced Black Forrest Ham, Bacon, Grilled Fried Cheese, Avocados, Apples, Raisins, Croutons and Orange Chocolate Vinaigrette.

I love when you walk in, it's like you are walking into someone home. The atmosphere is inviting and welcoming. Make sure you order the bacon wrapped dates, they are one of the best tapas I have ever had. And the sauce that goes over them is amazing. I like to experience all that cafe Madrid has to offer. It's a must go to dining experience

Cafe Madrid is an excellent experience. The food is fresh and comes out hot. The Beef tenderloin sandwich was especially impressive. The ambiance is exactly what it should be. It's not too loud and there's nice flamenco guitar playing in the background. The servers are amicable and courteous. The bathrooms are clean and match the Spanish ambiance of the restaurant. Would recommend this to anyone looking for one of the nicest lunch spots in Salt Lake!

I lived in Spain for 2 years. This restaurant was started by a native Spaniard; it is authentic, and it is fantastic quality. The flavors are rich and delicious. The paella is worth ordering a day in advance. Do NOT forget to try the tortilla de patata (Spanish omelette). Go on your birthday and they'll have a special treat!

Let's do 1st thing 1st. Their reservation system is just nonsense. Prior visiting, I deligently researched how to visit the place more than 2 days ahead and eventually made a reservation. We even dropped a special note for Pallela because their website said that it was required if case of the Pallela. I've confimed by the text & even saved the screenshot in case. When we visited the place, mentioned to the server to order the special menu. They said that their system was not shown my note for the Pallela and no way to make it. And I showed my reservation screenshot to the server,

Old-school European setting. Very good food. We got a series of 6 tapas then dessert. The asparagus salad was a little strange with cold potatoes and warm asparagus with what tasted like a mayonnaise dressing. The fish-stuffed peppers in light tomato sauce were excellent. The shrimp scampi in a cream sauce was very good. We ate them together with the sausage and Fig sauce... think sweet and savory. New Years Eve, nice warm decor, food was ok at 75 a person, one tapas one entree one dessert, waitress was pretty nice even though she was quite busy. We sat around for a while before she stepped up as our waiter was missing in action. Don’t think they changed the table cloth next to us. Sangria was a bit sweeter and more ice /juice than red-wine, The lamb shank was good but not any better than some of the other options around town, the tender loin I didn’t like the flavor as much was very cheese infused (but others did enjoy it). Crème brûlée was very rich I prefer it fluffier lighter.

Easily the worst service in the history of my dining experiences. The food, palatable, creative, but dear god the waiter and the rest of the staff were on Mars. I get that the restaurant is busy, but shouldn’t you treat all customers equally to run a good business? The waiter had no respect for the 10 guests in our group, nor the respect to actually have reasonable accommodations to missing half of the items on the menu. There are truly better restaurants available in the salt lake area that will actually give you the respect of a paying customer.

I don't know when it happened. It's been a while since we've been able to make it back, but we finally did for my mother in law's 70th birthday. So disappointing! Service was terrible. Food was underwhelming. We ordered a lot to try many things. The duck was just okay. The chicken marsala needed a sharp knife to cut through. I asked our waitress details about the chicken croquettes, she said she never had them. End of answer. No guidance or effort thereof. He severely lacked professionalism and made the evening rather uncomfortable. Firstly, the man at the front desk turned out to also be our server. There was an error in our party number, but instead of taking it in stride, he made a big deal about it. I no should nor be telling anybody about Cafe Madrid because I would just like to keep it as a secret for me and family.... The outside is a very nice looking building and it just wants you to come inside. The inside of the restaurant is nicely laid out. The staff is very welcoming they want you to have a evey nice. I was in Cafe Madrid 10 years ago, and I have nothing but good to say about them, JC always a great host, I came back to Utah and it was a disappointment .
I made a reservation from Florida for the Sunday afternoon I was going to be in SLC, on Saturday I received a text to confirm I was going, I did, Sunday I received a call from the restaurant telling me that the restaurant was closed.
However I did a reservation for Tuesday night.
What a disaster, waiter, young blond girl has no idea of how to serve, as for a bottle of wine and she didn't even gave us to taste just served it. But the worst

We went for Brunch on Sunday. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. The had several Eggs Benedict versions. My wife had the chorizo benedict and shared a bite with me. The hollandaise was made fresh in-house and was perfect! I had the chicken and ham hash. It was excellent. Portions were generous. They have a Tapas menu that is half price on Tuesdays. It has classic Spanish Tapas dishes like roasted octopus and potato. We are looking forward to trying that menu soon.

Had a great tapas dinner today with my gf. They have Tapas Tuesdays with everything under tapas menu 50% off! This venue kind of looks like an old house that was converted to a restaurant but that brings very warm and welcoming atmosphere with some outdoor seatings as well. Decors are very proper and bring you to the Western Europe. There were a lot of personal touches and I thought were nice.
Service was excellent. We had to wait a few min before getting seated but once we were seated, our server Cole provided us with a 5 star service. It was a pleasant experience to wine and dine at cafe

So exiting to eat there again and the agent in the phone said not until next week. Then i said i understand please book me a reservation for next week he said sorry i am.too.busy to take the reservation call other day.. I was really surprise about this lack of profesional of them.. and he hung off the phone.. you know where me and my husband and friend we will come-back never..

My little brother's wife is from Barcelona and we had a couple for buy one get 1/2 off main meal. With a 24 hours notice we ordered the Paella and many appetizers.
Some things amazing some things horrible. We waited and waited for the Paella to come out. We were full from the appetizers and mains when it was brought out. To our dismay, it was rather bland and couldn't believe it took so long to make to be lacking in flavor.

Their Sunday Brunch was delicious, their salmon cooked perfectly!

Really nice restaurant for brunch. We were party of 8 people, and everything went very smoothly. We went for the brunch and it was tasty. I had the vegetable scrambled. It was omelette. I really like it, but the price we paid compared to the portion we get was little high. They have many different options from crepes to pancakes and many others to choose from.

I have dined a Cafe Madrid a couple of times, the food is good however delivery orders and take out is much to be desired. Their management is lacking and irresponsible towards orders it is the worst in the state.
Go somewhere else, yes I understand there is a pandemic going on which would say to them if they want continued business get it right, I would if it was my business. For now find some other restaurant. Cafe Madrid does not know what they are doing. Close it up.

Let me start w the end first, the Flan is made in-house and is an absolute must. We had all tapas- The butifarritas con Brevas- an authentic tasty Catalan sausage in fig sauce. Croquetas de pollo, crunchy shell w soft middle filling, just like we had in Barcelona. The Albondigas Caseras- a delicious homemade meatballs that was tender but slightly sweet taste that I didn't prefer. The Tortilla Espanola-an egg/potato frittata, very authentic and filling, so just get 2 if your appetite isn't huge. Gambia's con bacon- can't go wrong w shrimp wrapped in bacon!. I've been to Spain numerous times (Barcelona, Madrid, the Basque region, Catalonia) and I find the food to be quite authentic in addition to being DELICIOUS!!!
