Valter's really delivers on all fronts - from the incredibly well-trained, professional, and friendly staff to the wonderfully-executed Italian fare to the overall theatrics of the meal - with some items provided table side - the entire experience is memorable in the best possible way.
I've lived in two great Italian food cities - Boston and Philly - so I will admit that I was nonplussed by the menu, feeling that I'd seen it all before. But the execution - the perfect timing of the cioppino, the incredible flavors of the duck, the tenderness of the veal and intensity of the morel

The service was quick and precise. The food was not what I would give five star. We ordered the beef ragu. I recommend skipping this dish entirely. The vegetables were under seasoned and cold. The beef was unevenly cooked and for the price we paid I was left with mix feelings. The four pasta sampler was a good example of different flavors however the sauces were watery and bland. The hot chocolate at the end did take me back to Italy but not worth the$200 we paid.

The setting here is great, good nice restaurant. The owner walks around greeting everyone was is very cool.
The food:
-well presented (big plus)
-not very good (sorry I don’t know how else to put it)
We were a large party and ordered a lot of different things, it turned out that the bread and oil was the great part. Every entree we ordered was left at least 50% uneaten.
I love you guys, sorry!!

As visitors from out of state, this place was highly recommended and after skimming through glowing reviews online, we had high expectations. Full disclosure: the white tablecloths and photos of the owner posing with celebrities/political figures are a trap. Not sure what all the hype is about but our experience left much to be desired.
Our server, Eduardo, greeted us promptly after being seated but did little to give recommendations based on our preferences. I understand it's his job to upsell but he seemed to be disinterested and he gave us the impression that he just wanted to move

Amazing authentic Italian. Pastas and sauces are made from scratch, presentation is gorgeous, and flavors are innovative. I can see why Chuck Norris would take on the challenge. Yes, Valter has met him! If it's good enough for Chuck, you know you are in for an experience. My only regret was not having room for dessert.

Wow, just wow ... my travels have slowed significantly this year, but this meal makes top 2 of the year!! If you are in SLC, like Italian and want a special experience this is it. Jose our waiter and all the staff are spot on and embody the true essence of hospitality. Valter visited our table and brings a wonderful energy. Great wine list - enjoyed Justin cab. We started with bruschetta which was followed by bread service with an oil, anchovy paste, caper dipping sauce. The bread is warm, crusty and endless. They have a nightly pasta sampler & risotto. We got the pasta sampler which

I couldn't have been less impressed.
Came here last weekend with my boyfriend for his birthday. I have celiac disease which was discussed with the waitress when ordering. After we received and ate our appetizers, both my boyfriend and I realized we didn't specifically request gluten free pasta for the Scoglio Di Mare Con Gameroni - we figured she didn't realize we were sharing entrees as well. She told us she had "already sent the order and it would be an additional 40 minutes to fix it, but that my dish the halibut special would be gluten free." How does that take 40

Valter's Osteria is supposedly one of the nicest restaurants in SLC with its white tablecloths and their table side presentation but we found the food to be bland and their menu options limiting. When we told our SLC friends that we went here on our first night in town, they were impressed and said its known to be one of the best Italian restaurants in town so where did we go wrong?
The truth is that the bar for Italian food in SLC must be very different than what we are used to. We did order some boring dishes unfortunately which was our mistake. For instance, the Beet Salad, which I wish

Where to begin with this wonderful Italian restaurant. If you want to be pampered and doted on not only by the staff and chef, but by the food, come to Valters Osteria.
We began with our choice of waters and a bruschetta that was to die for. Now, if you do this dining experience, you will need to understand the size of the bill. $$$$.
We let the waiter Gustavo take care of us and he did just that. The food was exquisite and powerful on our pallets. Unlimited hot bread with a caper, sardine, garlic and olive oil dressing. Followed by two raviolis, butternut squash and spinach. A spicy marinara

We were told to make reservations ahead, which we did - weeks ahead. When we arrived the restaurant was packed and the number of parties waiting continued to grow. 30 minutes later we were seated and immediately served the most divine bruschetta, fried squash blossoms, and fresh bread with oil. The meal only got better! Every bite was heaven! One member of our party had some particular dietary restrictions. The house manager personally served her fresh pasta and veggies. Please, savor this experience, it is so worth the wait! And don't skip desert - the lemon Gelato with honey is to die for! â

Valter's Osteria is a good Italian restaurant in an enormous food desert. I've lived in Salt Lake City now for 2 years and it's the first genuinely good, no qualifying statements needed, meal I've had in that time that didn't come from my own kitchen. Valter's started us off with the best bruschetta I've had in a decade, simple tomatoes non toast. We had the egg plant appetizer, and I had the signature rigatoni. They were both excellent, save for one over smoked bite of eggplant. My companion had the gnocchi and described them as pillow-y perfection. The meal was somewhat expensive, but given the

So, decided to visit my cousin and he wanted to make sure I tried this restaurant out because so many celebrities have been here as well.
Well, I can say that I'm so glad I agreed! It was so delicious!!! One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Everything was well and freshly made. The staff were amazing! And the recommendations for the table were perfect!
If you are ever in Salt Lake City, def try to make a stop here!

Beautiful meal. Atmosphere is nice. It the food is knockout good. Very heavy. My boyfriend and I made the mistake of each ordering an appetizer because we showed up super hungry but we ended up being too full to fully enjoy the rest of our meal! The food is just delicious. Very fresh tasting. Our server was wonderful and offered great, definitive suggestions when I was struggling to make a decision. Overall an awesome experience.

Absolutely amazing! I had high expectations coming here and let me say I was not disappointed.
We had a reservation and we were seated immediately upon arrival always a plus for me! The wait staff was impeccable. We were immediately greeted and offered water in its various forms and brought out bruschetta to start. It was DELICIOUS! Not to mention the bread that is continually refilled.
Onto the entrees our table ordered the ravioli, penne, and one of the amazing chicken dishes. All of them were fantastic. The penne was perfectly cooked and the red sauce wasn't saturating but still fully

If you come here with the right mindset - you're going to love it. If you're not used to an Italian way of dining. This isn't a quick experience - you come to Valter's to enjoy food, and good company, with good conversation.
Let's talk service. Incredible. My water never went empty, the bread was always filled, and I felt like our server (Luigi) did a great job guiding our meal.
They brought out complimentary bruschetta which I loved. Garlicky crispy bread, quality EVOO, and nice tomatoes. My friend didn't love it because the bread was too crispy but it was totally

This isn't just a restaurant, it's an experience. This well known and classy place has a warm ambience when you walk through the doors. All of the staff are accommodating and attentive. Servers know the menu inside and out without a menu.
We tried the tasting menu which had multiple courses including caprese, butternut squash ravioli, fresh salad, melon wrapped in prosciutto, gnocchi, salmon, halibut, and pork osso bucco. The pork was the best I've ever tasted! So many unique and bold flavors. The halibut was the only dish we didn't care for as it was a little dry; when the

Been here many times since my last review. Some servers good others not that good at listening and one even told me which political person he liked.
Food is so amazing, and so expensive! Some of the appetizers are more expensive than a main course.
Can't say enough about the awesome quality and taste of the food. The prices need some help as they are 2x more expensive than all over Italian places in the Wasatch Front.
Also if the servers weren't so pushy and listen to what we really want would be great. It is almost as if they get commission for pushing the higher priced menu items
