I wish I could give a higher rating - I had an amazing experience at Blue Iguana when I visited yesterday for dinner with my friend. There is a parking garage nearby that is free if you get validation from Blue Iguana. I was surprised at how tasty their Skinny Margarita is - it doesn't have that artificial sweetener taste that I was mentally prepared for. I will definitely be ordering that again. I ordered the combo fajitas and it was so delicious - it came with shrimp, chicken and steak. The portion was HUGE so I got two meals worth from the one order, which is great! It came with a side

We were visiting from Houston and decided to try this place out based off of the good reviews. The atmosphere is very cute and festive and gives you Mexico vibes. However, the drinks and food were both terrible. The margaritas were watered down, the queso was simply Velveeta cheese mixed with Rotel--and the queso is supposedly one of their specialties. We ordered tacos to play it safe and they were beyond greasy, and we also got seafood enchiladas, which was loaded with cheese, onions and peppers and hardly any seafood. We gave 2 stars for the atmosphere and the service wasn't too bad. Don

I came here with friends just before a Jazz game. The place was pretty full but with reservations, we got seated right away. Our waitress was very nice and engaging. Our order was taken within a few minutes and our food was brought out shortly after that. I had the seafood chimichanga and it was excellent. I will absolutely eat here again.

GREAT FOOD. I highly highly HIGHLY recommend the chorizo, shrimp, and pineapple tacos. Truly very good tacos. Service was average. The vibe though, could use some work. We got placed in the back corner when the place was pretty open and there was no music playing. I liked the food, but don't expect an experience.

We literally waited all day to eat here because all of the locals recommended this place, they didn’t open until 4pm so we decided to do some sightseeing in the area until they opened, so here is my critique, the food was cold on arrival, the waitress didn’t seem to be interested in us being there, her attitude was very bland, I had the chicken tacos and when the plate arrived it wasn’t even hot, nothing on the plate was hot. No ones food at our tables food was hot either, we told the waitress that the food wasn’t hot and she me asked did we want her to redo the food and we said no. Shortly

I am a NYer who has spent a lot of time in SLC for both work & play. I have been to Red Iguana (both) multiple times and loved them, so when I learned of this speakeasy outpost under the Benihana behind the Capitol Theater, I had to try it first thing when we got into town. I am very happy that we did. We went for lunch. We started with drinks-- I had the Cantarita, which was a nice (and not-too-sweet) mezcal cocktail served in a beautiful clay pot. My husband had the beautiful and tasty jalapeño margarita. The salsa that came with the chips was tasty and complex. For entrees, I had

Excellent service and delicious food! German the manager is wonderful along with the entire team of staff. Our waitress today was Karla and she was great! Spoke with Manuel the Chef and he was very pleasant as well. We have truly enjoyed both of trips to the Blue Iguana and look forward to coming again before we fly home.

Enjoyed our lunch here. The location and rhe anbience of the place is beautiful. The food we ordered were all amazing and fresh. The portion size was great as well. It did take a while to get the food, but the chips and salsa kept us occupied. I would definitely recommend this place for lovely Mexican food in down town SLC. Will come again..

I don't know what all the rave is about!? Food was so so. Nothing to be excited about. Typical Mexican American food. Definitely not authentic. Not a lot of flavor in the enchiladas. Could use more cheese. The enchilada sauce had a weird sweet taste to it. Cool restaurant overall but the staff could be more cheerful and welcoming. I don't think I will return.

After lugging a wheelchair down the steps from street level to the basement entrance to Blue Iguana, no one said we didn't need to do that. It turns out there's an elevator at the end of the kitchen and we could have used that to get in and out. It was only after Kristy asked if there was another way out that someone told us about the elevator.
That took some of our excitement off our noontime visit. Guess none of their staff has had to carry a wheelchair down a flight of steps or thought much about those who do. I would have thought the waitress that saw us struggling to carry it down

Get the Acapulco burger and ask them to add lettuce and cheese and you will be in heaven. The steak fries that came on the side were just meh. But honestly who would come to a Mexican restaurant for fries? Lol!
We made a reservation for 5, and were running late so we called and they were so nice and changed the reservation. So sweet. The ambiance was great. Classic Mexican feel.

The hostesses were very attentive since we arrived. Although we arrived at the rush time, we didn't waited long before getting a table. The busser brought chips, salsa, and a pitcher of water with a slice of lemon. The server was amazing, he had knowledge of the menu and he even brought a mole sampler to my husband so he could pick his favorite one. He got Mole Poblano with chicken and a Michelada with Negra Modelo. My daughter got the Build Your Own burger, and she said it was one of the best burger she've had. My son got a Chicken Taco from the kids menu. I got Combo Fajitas, and when I heard

This was our first time going and definitely not our last!!! The service was quick, the food was out of this world and the flavor was magnificent!
.
We got seafood enchiladas and puntas de filete! What stood out to me the most was the mole de almendras (almond mole). I had never had it before, but the creamy, savory, earthy flavor was a great balance to the salty, spicy flavor of the meat. Truly a masterpiece!

With its beautiful festive colors and friendly atmosphere, this place is a must try!

Blue Iguana is one of the most popular Mexican places in Salt Lake City. We had a reservation, but we were still made to wait for 20 mins. Apparently, the reservation just gets into the queue and does not guarantee a table. This was on a rainy Wednesday evening, so I can't imagine how bad it would be on the weekends. In the end, we had to adjust for a table of 4 with an extra chair added ( we had reserved a table for 5).
Once we were at the table, the server wanted our order immediately and didn't give us enough time to decide, and he wasn't helpful. We ordered a sampler plate

Blue Iguana has been a place we have loved for a while so we were stoked to come back and try things we hadn't before!
As always, their chips and salsa were stellar. We started with the Chori Queso, which was packed full of chorizo and gooey cheese...yum yum!
Our entrees were the Chili Verde Chimichanga and the Ribeye & Cheese Enchilada combo! We really liked how well the chimi was fried- enough to make the exterior crispy but still keep the inside from getting too fried.
As far as the Ribeye went- we realize it may be risky to get a steak at a Mexican food restaurant, but not at

Blue Iguana is one of those places you have to visit when it comes to eating in Salt Lake City. The decor is top notch inside and out. Also the staff is friendly and very attentive to their customers. Ordered the seafood enchiladas. Very delicious!! The mango margarita was also delicious. Outdoor and indoor dining available. Also parking is available on the street and the nearby garage. Also accessible by the UTA Trax train in a very walkable downtown area. I am recommending this restaurant to those adventuring in Downtown SLC in search of some great food!!

I was really impressed with the Blue Iguana. For my first trip to Salt Lake City, and I really tried a lot of establishments that were not only a lot of fun, but served really good food.
Their outdoor seating was impressive and I was just walking in. We made our way downstairs and were immediately greeted by the hostess. With a big smile she brought us over to our table. Not a minute later, our waiter came over, greeted us and took a drink order. My friend went for the Margarita as that's what initially brought us here and I went for the boring, but refreshing Corona.

As soon as we walked in, the hostess was rude to us. We had a reservation but she seated us in a table right by the kitchen so I politely asked to move and she said it was the only table available. Meanwhile, there were 20+ tables open and they say multiple parties of 2 at 4 tops where we could have been moved too.
Our server was nice and the food came out fast but all of the food was very average. The prices were decent so we didn't mind that the food wasn't spectacular. The margs were watered down though.
The queso tasted liked Velveeta with peppers in it and the chicken in my quesadilla

We went here with a large group - they took reservations and seated us at separate tables - and it was perfect!! Our food was amazing and the service was wonderful!
Their chips and salsa and perfection and the beans and rice are one of my faves.
I'd highly recommend the shrimp or seafood fajitas or the mole. Both are unparalleled. I always forget which mole I like so I ask for a sample mole plate to be sure I order the right thing!

I always enjoy our visits to Blue Iguana. On this most recent visit, we had the opportunity to sit on their quaint little patio. It's a cool layout and makes you feel like you are hanging out in small garden, away from the busy city. Love this vibe.
It was another date night opportunity for my wife and I, which means I always look forward to awesome company/ conversation, great food, and a setting that allows us to take in the moment and not be continually distracted.
Our server quickly greeted us and was very friendly and kind. He did a fantastic job of taking care of us. We ordered
