Life is hard enough and when you're dealing with stressful situations, it can feel darn near hopeless. I'm Katherine Stromska, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I offer supportive therapy that can get you through it. I'm trained to work with a variety of issues, but there are several that are near and dear to my heart.
We have all been guilty at one time or another of being a "people pleaser, " putting our needs aside in favor of helping others. While a little is okay, a lot can leave you feeling irritated, unsatisfied, unseen, and resentful. Not fun. Additionally, since many women are regularly discouraged from rocking the boat and dread being judged as selfish, we end up dismissing our feelings and downplaying our hurt simply to keep the peace.

I help adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, and stressful life changes feel more in control of their thoughts, feelings, and moods. Hi, I'm Kate and I'm so glad you've taken an interest in learning more about me and my work. Below is a brief summary of how I do what I do and what you can expect from sessions with me.
Sessions with me are typically scheduled once per week for 50 minutes. If you're needing something different when it comes to scheduling, like say every other week or a different time each week, we can create a plan that fits into your life. This is your therapy so it has to work for you and your time frame.
To make it easier for you, I accept payment in a variety of ways: cash, check, credit, debit, flex spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) card. I work independent of insurance panels for several reasons. By doing this, you and I are in control over what we work on together and how we go about it.
Counseling works by providing a safe space for you to talk about sensitive topics with a therapist who is skilled in providing support, helping you gain a different perspective, and teaching more effective ways of coping with distress. Honestly, therapy is for anyone who is seeking to change some aspect about themselves or their lives.
Mental health concerns during and after pregnancy are an incredibly common occurrence. So common, in fact, that 1 out of 5 postpartum women will experience some form of postpartum depression or anxiety. If that is you, please know that you are not alone. Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are more commonly known as postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety.
