Moved out of the area so I don’t stop by as much. However after trying to have a key made at two other hardware stores with no avail, I found myself back at Town Line. They were attentive and went above and beyond. The Key they made wound up working better than the original key I gave them. They’ve earned my business and the drive.

Town Line Hardware is my first stop for home remodeling supplies and paint. Family owned, professional and friendly, they carry a surprisingly large range of products - and the knowledge to back them up. Today, for example, I needed a custom color match for a Celect composite trim color. No problem -- they have a colorimeter scanner and the expertise to tweek the settings for an excellent match.

I used to manage Harney hardware in West Newton Massachusetts, and I have informally been in the building trades (alarms, general home repair, some drywall hanging, etc.) These people know what they are doing, the prices are fair, the stock is a great mix between old fashioned. (like a grinding wheel you can put on the end of a drill for some minor metal removal without spending huge $$$, and the latest. Yes it's hard to work in one of the richest areas in Massachusetts for a wage that even if it was tripled could not buy you and your family a home there, but I give respect treat people like

I don't know why that other reviewer paid for that paint if it wasn't going to match?? That's the price the hardware store should pay in having employees either ill-informed or looking to make the store a buck at someone else's expense. That was a horribly nasty way of doing business. I only go here when I need small items or a screen repaired. The employees aren't that friendly. I brush it off as that "Sudbury snobiness". It does speak volumes that management never responded to paint lady's review. I guess the customer ISN'T always right at TLH. Sad

I try to buy local, and have frequented Town Line Hardware for a few years now. Today, I went in with a paint lid to match paint for some touch up work on doors and baseboards. I asked for a quart, but the man at the counter told me that because it was oil-based, I would need a gallon to correctly match the color. I didn't want to spend that much money, but I also wanted the color match, so I agreed to the gallon. While waiting, another customer (a painter) told me that the paint - because it was oil - would NEVER match, and that oil paints were not longer recommended for use on wood. His sentiments

I agree with JC, I've only been in there a few times, but all of the employees are just standing around doing nothing. I used to work in a hardware store and would always find something to do to fill the time to make the store a better place. Most of the store looks empty with very little inventory in stock. I tried to return a broken item and the manager point blank laughed in my face and said "are you being serious right now?" over and over. Beware of this place, if you actually want to support a local business that cares about building quality customer relationships I recommend

This is a goood hardware and paint store. Three big standouts--they carry the full line of Benjamin Moore paints at decent prices (including Aura), they have propane refills at a good price, and, during the recent snowstorms, they were one of the few places that really made the effort to bring in extra snow melt supplies. Very appreciated. Only downsides are that their general hardware selection is somewhat limited, and hours of operation are not great, but these are minor quibbles. This is a go-to place.
