Sometimes it's a matter of choosing the wrong pattern, not knowing how to adjust the pattern for accurate fit or fabric for your skill level. Other times, it's a machine issue either with adjustment or operator error. Regardless, often all that is needed is a little help from another seamstress to get you through it.

Have you ever struggled with a sewing skill or struggled to get the right fit with a sewing pattern? Do you have a drawer or box hidden in the closet of UFOs (un-finished sewing objects) because you just didn't know where to turn to help get them finished? Or a fabric and pattern stash waiting to be created but you're waiting to be the perfect size because you struggle with pattern adjustments.
Sewing classes with The Sewing and Fitting Mentor are designed to meet you at the experience level you are at in your sewing journey. Learn or refresh past sewing skills while creating 2 projects: an apron & drawstring bag. This class will introduce the operation of a sewing machine and basic sewing skills; as compared to the quick start class.
Sewing classes with The Sewing and Fitting Mentor are designed to meet you at the experience level you are at in your sewing journey. Please note that at this time until further notice, class sessions are limited to6 students per session. This is due to the number of sewing stations that have been safely distanced apart.
In a set of 6 classes, you will learn the fundamentals of sewing a garment using a commercial pattern. This is a self-paced course; allowing you to begin your classes any time, select your project, and attend class sessions on your own schedule. Your initial class will review the use of a sewing machine, along with orientation on supplies and pattern selection.
This course is designed to take you from the foundation of the basic fundamentals and create new skills used in the majority of sewing projects. These sessions are flexible and open-ended, so you can return to your sewing sessions for as long as you would like. The selection of projects should take into account the skills you want to learn.

Marvelous fun! I took an introductory sewing class to learn an entirely new skill and loved this class! Renee is a natural teacher. She was easily able to adapt to my beginning skill level and encouraged me on projects I wanted to try at home. With her experience teaching all levels, she helped me find what worked for me as I tried more advanced sewing projects. Her explanations were not overcomplicated so I wouldn’t get lost and she gave demonstrations so that I could attempt more on my own. I very much appreciated this class. Renee’s knowledge and kindness is a gift and I plan to undertake

Renee, her studio and kid sewing classes are delightful. One of my daughters has completed sewing a bag and pillow case and is moving on to pajama pants all within her first 6 lessons - I cannot recommend Renee and her classes enough - absolutely a hidden gem in Forest Lake!

Renee is a complete gem- she altered my wedding dress for my ceremony and then again for my reception. She explained what she was doing, had super flexible appointments, great communication, super affordable and high quality work. After my ceremony, I decided I wanted my dress additionally altered- I wound up messaging Renee late one evening and she agreed to see me the very next day. There was an incredibly tight timeline to get the additional work done in time for the reception and she truly saved the day. I would recommend Renee to anyone seeking a very thoughtful and quality alterations experience
