I am a Licensed Psychologist and Health Service Provider Massachusetts Lic. Utilizing psychological science, I work to promote mental health and wellness in 3-17 year olds. I invest a great deal of time with young patients and their families up front, which allows for well-informed, high quality interventions.

I use psychological measurement tools to support diagnostic clarity. Treatment with children and teens includes a holistic case management component, meaning that I directly coordinate with parents, educators, school counselors, tutors, physicians, nurse practitioners, and other professionals, as needed, pulling all of these entities together, often leading to a better understanding of the vulnerabilities and strengths of the child in context.
Services
The process of obtaining psychological services for a child typically begins with a call by a parent or guardian seeking services on behalf of the child. During that call, I ask the parent(s) questions, answer questions, and review office policies and procedures.

I often take time during the call to ensure I understand the referral questions, know the context in which the child is struggling, and determine if my expertise fits the needs of the patient. If we both think it makes sense to proceed, I will give parent(s) access to contracts and forms to complete, and we will consider scheduling an introductory session.
Services are for children (3-17 years old) and adults. In cases of unusual financial hardship, I may be willing to negotiate a fee adjustment or payment installment plan. I do not accept insurance because I would rather devote my time and attention to my clients rather than to their insurance companies.
For well over a decade, I held various leadership roles in professional organizations; authored papers in scholarly journals; presented regularly to local, national, and international audiences; and conducted research. Those activities deepened my knowledge of clinical training, organizational dynamics, school communities, co-parenting, and childhood development.
Before treatment of a child may begin, I will ask you to review several policies and procedures. If you are comfortable with my policies and procedures, then we will schedule an introductory session to further determine fit. Together, HIPAA and Massachusetts Laws require that Psychologists provide prospective and current patients information and choices surrounding mental health treatment.
I had an opportunity to provide community education through Fusion Burlington in a live zoom-based webinar titled "Parents, Educators, and Children Striving for Balance this Fall." I was joined by our host, Matt Shea from fusion Burlington and privileged with an engaging and enthusiastic audience.

I highly recommend Dr. Karin Hodges. We have worked together on a number of cases and I know her in my professional community. On cases, she is highly responsive in sharing information, and very collaborative. In her work, I have observed her to be diligent, thoughtful, caring, and to go the extra mile for families and kids in her care. She has an active style, and is able to engage parents and kids in effective interventions (including CBT). She has a strong sense of ethics. She thinks broadly and conceptually as a psychologist, making her a good teacher I would imagine too!

Tone deaf clinically, especially in terms of undermining a safe, productive therapeutic alliance.

I was struggling with how to manage my three year old and feeling at times like a “bad” mom. Karin helped me to develop the skills I needed to manage my son’s behavior effectively and with confidence. His oppositionality immediately decreased (I know!) but most importantly, we started enjoying our time together again. It is such a relief to feel like a good mom again, thank you Karin!

She has developed successful strategies for working with children with a variety of needs. They enjoy meeting with her, and she has been enormously helpful and supportive to their families as well.
