Philadelphia Studio Ballet develops dancers with strong, clear, classical technique with an emphasis on artistry, purity of line, and quality of movement. We believe traditional dance education and training are vital aspects of any dancer's foundation. We also understand that tradition is not the only aspect of dance for our young students.
The needs of today's dancer are very different from those of the past. We are committed to providing diverse dance opportunities for our dancers and are delighted to offer classes in many different genres, including hip hop, jazz, lyrical, modern, etc. Our students are always encouraged to enjoy themselves and have fun while learning in a relaxed, pressure-free environment!

Ms. Slenn is a native of Philadelphia and received her early training at the School of The Pennsylvania Ballet. She continued her studies at The Centre de Danse Classique with Rosella Hightower, Cannes, France; Harkness House, New York; The Joffrey Ballet, New York; and Interlochen Center for The Arts, Michigan.
Children and their parents/caregivers are invited to enter the world of the ballet through creative movement and imagery. These delightful classes introduce little ones to fundamental exercises and spark their imaginations with magical fairy tales and ballet stories. After completing a short basic class, our students are dressed in costumes by their caregivers and given a chance to "create."
Our Primary Division is the first step-up level from Pre-Ballet. Primary levels provide attainable goals that build self-confidence and help students develop strong technique, artistry, and quality of movement. Excellent preparation for Graded Level. Prior formal ballet training is not required. Suitable for students with one year or less of formal training.
The Pre-Professional Division offers a serious training program. As these students progress, they take on more demanding steps and complex sequences of movement eventually mastering advanced technical skill, articulation, musicality and expression. We offer classes in both classical and contemporary ballet.
These popular forms of dance, each with its own distinctive style, greatly appeal to a dancer's need for freedom and self-expression. Jazz classes can include Broadway style, jazz/hip hop techniques and more lyrical approaches to movement. Classes consist of a thorough warm up, across the floor & center work focusing on flexibility, strength, musicality and technique.

PSB provides a wide range of classes with qualified and caring teachers. While enjoying multiple classes for six years, it has become a home away from home for my daughter. Her dance skills, confidence and stage presence grew with the support and encouragement of PSB. We are grateful for Ms. Suzanne, PSB teachers and fellow students for such a positive experience!

Our daughter has been dancing at PSB since she was 6 (she's 16 now). We have loved every minute of it, and have so enjoyed watching her mature into a graceful, powerful, self-confident dancer under the mentorship of Suzanne Slenn and her fabulous staff of teachers and choreographers. PSB provides a nurturing AND challenging environment where every dancer can thrive and body positivity is celebrated. If you are looking for a school with excellent technical training AND supportive, warm and caring teachers, look no further.

A shout out to Suzanne Slenn and her very talented instructors at Philadelphia Studio Ballet. It has been amazing how with COVID19 the dance school has not skipped a beat and within a week the students were doing virtual classes, making the best of the situation and keeping the girls active and moving during this time. My daughter has danced at… PSB for 10 years now. She is part of the dance company and not only takes ballet and pointe but also tap, jazz, and lyrical. She has learned under the direction of Ms. Suzanne, Ms Felicia, Ms. Meredith, Ms Amanda, Ms Nora and Ms. Savannah who are

My daughter started dancing at PSB when she was just 4. Now she is 11 and thriving as a dancer, due to both the instruction from supportive teachers and the amazing sense of community among the dancers at PSB. It is the perfect blend of challenge and support. My daughter was accepted into summer intensives at PA Ballet and Rock School this year, and 100 percent of the credit goes to the school director and her faculty for developing her abilities in a positive, encouraging way. It's a wonderful place for aspiring young dancers.

My two daughters have danced at PSB for 3 years. It is a wonderful dance program and both my girls have grown immensely as dancers under their program. The teachers are extremely talented, experienced and care about each student. The opportunities are wonderful and I would highly recommend the studio to anyone looking for a dance home for their child.

Nearly impossible to get a response from the owner of the studio in general. And I’m now trying to obtain a refund for a performance that was cancelled due to COVID — I feel like I’m being ghosted. No replies to my emails. We will be taking lessons elsewhere in the future and do not recommend this dance school.
