14 Karat was started by Robert Osterholm, in 1979. At a time when gold was in great demand and prices were high, he saw an opportunity he couldn't resist. The business acted as a wholesale agent for gold jewelry manufacturers and sold primarily to retailers and corporate clients, maintaining what was at the time a very limited public clientele.
At 14 Karat we believe that there is a perfect diamond for every customer. Regardless of budget, there is a perfect fit for color, clarity, cut and carat weight - the 4 Cs. We make it our mission to determine what you want and fit that need. If we don't have it in our current stock, we will obtain the diamond for you usually within a day at no increase in cost.

Can not recommend 14 Karat enough! My fiancé worked with John and Alyssa on my engagement ring and it’s better than I could have ever dreamed up! They are so great to work with and went out of their way to find the exact diamond I’ve always wanted. Alyssas custom designs are insanely beautiful. She helped me pick out a beautiful band to compliment my ring and I’m just so happy. Don’t go anywhere else in Omaha! 14 Karat is hands down the absolute best!

Oh my gosh! I cannot recommend Alyssa at 14 Karat enough. She listened to everything we wanted, listened to our budget, and worked with us every step of the way. I cannot believe that she made this ring, custom for me, and I get to wear it for the rest of my life!!

My experience with 14 Karat was fabulous! My wedding ring is over 30 years old and needed repair. I first took my ring to Borsheims. I was told that my ring is "non repairable" and it would be best for me to pick a new setting. I was so upset to hear this. My friend suggested I go to 14 Karat and boy am I glad I did! My wedding ring is repaired and looks fabulous! I got updated appraisals for all my jewelry pieces and also purchased a new piece of jewlery. I will always go to 14 Karat for my Jewelry needs going forward!

Alyssa was amazing to work with while shopping for an engagement ring. I gave her a budget and what I was looking for and she helped me find several amazing options. She explained everything in detail and was always available to answer questions. Not once did I feel like she was just looking to make a sale. We moved to Omaha 5 years ago and needed some help with jewelry. We went to some well known places in Omaha and the customer service was awful. We found 14 karat and will be forever grateful. They are willing to take on any project, no matter how big or how small. They treat everything important. Most recently, I had lost my wedding set and we had… issues with our appraisal. Alyssa and John got it all figured out for us and Alyssa went above and beyond to create my dream set. She totally thought outside the box to make this dream fit within our budget. My fiancé worked with John and surprised me with the most amazing engagement ring, I could not have dreamed of a better one. Then we worked with Alyssa to create a custom wedding band from my moms diamonds which is incredible!!! I cannot recommend these two and this company enough they are beyond amazing. I recently went to an event that 14 Karat hosted for their new and talented designer Alyssa. I felt like family the minute I walked in, browsing through all of their beautiful jewelry I came across some… stackable rings that blew me away. Priced fair and they will be mine very shortly 😆 the owner was gracious and polite. Alyssa was so informative for being so new, and she blew me away with her knowledge and attention to detail. We got my engagement ring at 14 karat and had such a wonderful experience that we decided to have Lucy make a necklace for my birthday. We requested (in texts) for a bezel pear diamond in the same rose gold as my engagement ring. When the necklace was finished it was a completely different alloy than what we requested, and was a basket instead of a bezel. Instead of admitting that she had made a mistake she still charged us for labor for something that was made incorrectly and not to our specification that was agreed upon beforehand. Hands down my favorite fine jewelry store in Omaha. I have been a customer since their location in Shaker Place & I finally made it out to the new location. I have always loved that you have to be buzzed in. The staff always seems to be happy to see you, and everyone is enthusiastic about showing items no matter what end of the price spectrum. There's a genuine sense of customer service which cannot be topped. I have recommended 14 Karat since before I even moved back to Omaha many years ago. 14 Karat is top notch and on the jewelry it's very comparable to Borsheims, if not better. Plus, they are one of the last places in Omaha that can sell Tacori rings.
The second best thing about 14 Karat is that it is not stuffy. Sure they have fabulous and very expensive items but they understand everyone has a budget and never pressure or treat the customers poorly. This is a no pressure kind of place.
John is over the top helpful, you can tell he is loving his work. Several of my friends have purchased their engagement rings from John and all are extremely pleased with the value and continued
