Captains Tavern
He had spent the better part of the previous year transforming an old post office into a restaurant, doing much of the work with a friend. Over four decades and more than 200 tons of fresh seafood later, The Captain's Tavern looks about the same and is still packing them in. The Captain jokingly describes the decor as "early depression, " yet the dining room and bar area buzz with energy.

On any given night, you'll find families, business people, seniors and young couples all enjoying fresh seafood and sushi, exceptional wine, classic cocktails and a lively atmosphere. The formula is simple. Captain's Tavern leverages its vast network of seafood suppliers to provide diners with the absolute freshest fish at the best prices.

Delicious dinner for Mom's birthday. Had a lobster tail which was over a pound and it was delicious. Oysters were excellent and very fresh.

I've been a loyal customer for the past 17 months ever since the Pandemic started. During the current climate, I only order to go. I'm tired of getting nickle and dimed to death! I usually order the Oysters Rockefeller with a hamburger also to go. Over the past 3-4 months or so, the hamburger has gone from $10 to $12 to $15 and now tonight it was $18! To almost double in a short period of time is absolutely ridiculous!! and not to mention a $2.50 take out charge? The food is good, but it's expensive enough as it is, and there's nothing special about their hamburger, it

We have been customers for many years and have been consistently happy with their seafood, stone crabs and smoked fish dip. They have very fresh products. I look forward to our next visit to Captain’s Tavern Seafood Market.
Pro tip: they are located right behind the restaurant with their own parking lot and entrance.

We have been coming to Captains Tavern for over 20 years and we have never had a disappointing experience or meal! I wish I could make my fish as well as they do! The service is great, and so is the atmosphere. This is a must visit in Miami, you will not be disappointed, order anything! Good food at a reasonable price

Coming to this restaurant for FATHER's DAY at first seemed like a good idea, but i was proven to be mistaken. Me and my party had walked in perfectly fine without masks as we are all vaccinated, but when my uncle Joe comes in without one (he is vaccinated as well) it seems to be a problem. When u see Joe you can tell he is a Cuban and the fact they singled him out when he walked in I feel like it was an act racism discriminating to us Cubans. I am very upset and will launch the CUBAN LIVES MATTER CLM movement.

Friendly team. Usually pretty long wait but worth it. Some of the prices seem a bit steep, and particularly unpleasant is having to pay more for the "better" cuts. Understand that there may be better parts but think if all parts are equally sellable, would be cool at all for same price!

So sorry to say our curbside experience was horrible. Our order was incomplete. The food was not accompanied by the sauces or crab as advertised on the menu. We called to let them know how unhappy we were and the response was ok I'll tell the kitchen. Unacceptable

Captain's Tavern was a regular every-other-week place for us before the pandemic, so it has been nice to return now that we are more comfortable with indoor dining again. It was great to see so many of the same staff, and the food has the same high quality.
A few differences:
- Tables are currently more widely spaced. This is a nice thing for the dining experience.
- Some renovations: New wall at the front of the center section divides up the large space nicely.
- The menu is much more limited than the huge, meandering menu from before. Many favorites remain.
- Prices are noticeably higher

I cannot rave enough about this restaurant. We found it online reading articles about great places for fish/seafood in Miami. We made the drive from Miami Beach, it took about 25 min to get to the Captains Tavern. There is plenty of parking, it's an old school restaurant with cool old rum bottles as decorations. We started with a fresh and delicious volcano roll, my husband had clam chowder, they bring rolls and butter and a salad comes with each entree. My husband had the crispy snapper and I had the shrimp/scallops Meli Mello. Each dish was served hot and fresh and we really enjoyed our

Only gets 3 stars because the staff was great but the food was not. I ordered the "special" grilled octopus arm and it was very obvious that it was their way of trying to get rid of old food. It tasted like it was in a freezer for years 🤢. Go down the street to the Original Crab House instead .

OMG... a one stop shop! Not only did we pick up some amazing Stone Crabs and delicious Black Grouper but the manager, Ray pointed out that they have some amazing wines available to pick up with carry out. I own a wine shop in Delaware and found some terrific finds with great pricing. I'm glad to be here another week and half to go back before we make the drive back up North. PS.. the Stone Crab sauce is better than Joe's!

Ate here on Valentine's evening. At outside glance, you'd think this location is a tavern or bar, but inside, it is a very nice and elegant dining experience. The service was outstanding and the food was incredible.

Had the Stuffed Mushrooms and the escargot to start and they were both super tasty and fresh. The puff pastry on top of the Escargot was.... OMG, like melt in your mouth good.

Had the Seafood Risotto for main dish and it was also tasty, fresh and had plenty of mushrooms and scallops and shrimp. All in all a great experience and would return again!

I have been going to captains tavern for over 20 plus years, at least twice a week. I have always been happy with quality, freshness and service.
Today that changed ...I asked for my fish to be skinned, he took off the skin and a big portion of the fish. The fish was butchered and I watch a big piece of fish go in the garbage with the skin.
It’s not only that I paid for it, but what a waste.
If only Ray can teach the new employees how to take off the skin properly.
Very disappointed

Today is Saturday January 30th. This was my first time at Tavern seafood. I found out about this place from a publix employee. I have to say I was impressed. I went there looking for lump crabmeat. They didn't have the exact brand I wanted but the store employee showed me something very closed to what I was looking for. The employee was very professional and seemed knowledgeable about what I was looking for. I would recommend this place if you're looking for fresh seafood.

Absolutely love this place. I have been visiting for years with my family. My favorite is their Crab Cakes. The ambiance is also dark and cozy and fits a sea food vibe. Good service, and fresh seafood.

We ordered take out, 2 fried shrimp dinners for a special birthday and got the worst meal .
Looked like the shrimp were left overs from lunch and refried. Called and complained and they refunded our money. Still had no meal for dinner though. This used to be our go to restaurant for years. Not sure anymore!

More young people need to go here! This is a great date spot!

Great menu selection, great wine selection, great food and great service!

Decor is pretty dated but I loved it! Reminded me of being in an episode of Spongebob.

The crab cakes are seriously the best I've ever had! I ordered the Seafood Risotto and I'm still drooling over it! It's HUGE and they're not stingy with the seafood. It was creamy and you couldn't wait for the next bite!

The key lime pie is homemade there and it's one of my top favorites. You can purchase a whole pie to take home too!

Stopped in for lunch by myself since I was in the neighborhood and got a seat in the bar area by the fish tank. Perfect. Service was fast and steady. I had everything I needed in no time. I tried the stone crab claws and they were nice and cold and perfectly cracked. Also tried the cedar plant salmon and it was excellent. Try the creamy garlic dressing - it'll scare away vampires. It is so good!

This place has been in Miami for a
long time and I never had a chance to try the food until last week. The place needs renovations ASAP. The bar area is better than the actual dinning area and still feel like going back to the past. They have a pretty extended menu with many choices and even sushi. I had the shrimps filled with crabmeat and it was good and fresh. Our friends had crab, fish and oysters. It is an ok choice but if you don't live in the area, is not worth it. I rather go to Garcías or Casablanca.

I found out the secret to getting a table quickly at Captain's Tavern!! Go during Spring Break!! Our party of 5 was immediately seated. We got there at 6:30 pm and I thought that we would have to wait for an hour to get a table, especially on 2 for 1 lobster night!!

Here's what we ordered:

Cracked conch appetizer- too salty & greasy (oil was probably not hot enough when they fried it)

Grilled lobster tail - perfect!! So delicious!!

Grouper Oscar - okay.

Linguine with seafood - cleaned the plate!!

Jada sushi roll - weird looking but tasty!

2 for 1 Maine lobster - sooo good

I came here with my girl friends for a girlie lunch date...and to be honest I was a little concerned and apprehensive with regards to the most recent reviews I had read on yelp. It was noted by myself that the "newish" general opinion was - "it seems to have gone downhill" ...

So, we went - and in a way I have to agree. Some of the portions were of a decent size, however some were just so small it was funny and our main topic of conversation! One of my friends had a lobster salad, which was stated as a main... when it arrived it was soooo small. I asked our waitress
