There are many treatments and therapies for depression available - the most important part of treatment is finding the right one for you. Depression may be difficult to describe, in part because there is no singular experience of it.
For instance, of the approximately 16 million adults in the U.S. diagnosed with clinical depression in a given year, some might describe living with depression like living in a Teflon-coated pan-a pervasive sort of numbness where nothing sticks, everything just slips off.For others depression is more of an acute, physical sensation punctuated by migraines, bottomless hungers, or insomnia.

Ketamine was approved by the FDA in 1970 for use as a general anesthetic agent. After decades of use as a common anesthetic, a street drug, and a novel treatment of pain, an initial study in 2000 showed that ketamine had rapid antidepressant effects for patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD).
Ketamine infusion therapy consists of a series of 6 small doses of intravenous (IV) ketamine administered by a medical professional over 12 days to relieve the symptoms of Treatment Resistant Depression and/or chronic pain. Response, if achieved, is usually seen within 1 to 3 infusions. Some people respond immediately, others within the first 24 hours following a treatment.
Ketamine is a medication consistently used as a surgical anesthesia for more than 50 years with children, adults, and animals. Researchers later became aware of ketamine's ability to relieve depression, anxiety, and some pain disorders in less than 24 hours after administration.
Ketamine therapy, administered by qualified medical professionals, is now helping patients with major depression, bipolar depression, PTSD, and pain syndromes such as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), to rapidly experience relief of their mental and physical symptoms, improving both mood and function - and producing hope.
