Hi, I'm Shannon, and I am the Business Manager at PCD. I have been in the dental field for about 8 years. I am a people person and enjoy connecting with and helping people on a personal level. What I love best about my job is the way a positive experience in the dental office can change a person's life.
White (or "composite") restorations are a good option for fillings in both front and back teeth. We make sure to use latest dental materials available to ensure a good, safe and long lasting filling. A pulpotomy may be indicated in baby teeth where the cavity has reached the nerve and blood vessels (or "pulp") that are in the center of the tooth.
Gently rinse the tooth off with some water if it has dirt or debris on it, and avoid scrubbing the tooth. If the child is young, place the tooth in a Tupperware with some milk to transport it to our office. Don't place the tooth back in the mouth of a young child, as they may swallow it.
If the child is older, you can have them gently place it back into the socket, or suggest that they hold it between their lip and gums to transport it to our Portland office.Do a visual inspection of the area, look for food matter or things that might be stuck between the teeth, and remove what you find by gently flossing the area.

We have been taking both of our kids here for years. Dr. David is fantastic! He is very good not only at making the kids feel at ease, but also at explaining what’s happening with their teeth. Excellent care, I would recommend Portland Children’s Dentistry to anyone looking for the right dentist for their kids.

This is the kind of dentist office I wish I had as a kid. Not only are they dentistry pros, but they also really understand children and go out of their way to make the experience as pleasant as possible. They explain enough for the kid to feel comfortable, but give the details to the parents. They let the kid watch kid Netflix from a ceiling screen and also work hard to make sure the child feel seen and heard. "Please raise your hand if you need a break and I'll pause and see what I can do."

There's nothing more terrifying than being out of town and having your child get into an accident. That's what happened to our family this week. We decided to escape the smoke in the Bay Area and drove to Portland. Trying to enjoy the fresh air here, we went for a hike. Minutes into it, my 4 year old tripped and suffered a gnarly fall. Her front tooth was knocked out of place, being pushed up into her gums in a weird angle. Blood everywhere and me freaking out, we consulted with our pediatric dentist back home, sending him photos of her dislodged tooth. He advised us to see a pediatric

My daughter went from being so scared of the dentist that after 3 attempts she had still never had her teeth clean. We have been going for over a year and she is now excited to go! We have cavities to watch but with Dr David’s coaching our family made changes that has improved her oral health!

Dr David and staff have always been wonderful to work with. Kind, gentle, caring, and professional. We came all the way from the coast to their office for a significant amount of dental work my son needed that required anesthesia over 4 years ago. We love them so much we decided to stay for regular maintenance care rather than a clinic closer to home.

My daughter had her first experience having a cavity filled. She was very anxious, but Dr. Patty was incredibly kind and patient, as was Cristina our hygienist. They did an excellent job and we got through it so much easier than expected.
Additionally, all of the extra precautions that they took (because of the COVID-19 pandemic) were appropriate and very much appreciated. It made for a seamless experience.

Absolutely the best in children's dentistry. My daughter (3) was a little nervous for her appointment, but everything about the clinic is warm and inviting. From coffee and large play areas in the lobby to the open and welcoming exam spaces, everything seemed designed with a child in mind. Janelle, our tech, was so wonderful with my daughter. She instantly put her at ease and explained every step in child-centered and age-appropriate language. My daughter was comfortable with her in under 5 minutes! I am so grateful for this dental office!! The staff is amazing. Janelle is awesome at keeping the kids happy and comfortable and Dr David is brilliant at keeping their teeth healthy and communicates so well about the plan of care. I have never second guessed the choice of treatment, they are really looking out for the best outcome for each child. I always recommend them to friends and they have always received the same superior level of service!!

Absolutely best children’s dentist office!!! Not just the dentist but the ENTIRE staff!! Dental assistants helped out by keeping up with my 2 year old while Dr Patty discussed our options and he explored the office from one end to the other, the office is designed to keep the children busy with appropriate entertainment, 2 convenient locations. My son is very comfortable which makes going to the dentist that much more enjoyable for both of us. Glad we found Portland Children’s Dentistry!!!

I highly recommend this dentist! I take my little one here and she never wants to leave after every appointment. Dr. David and Dr. Patty are both awesome and so is everyone else. Initially I was having trouble finding a dentist that accepted my insurance but when I called josue helped me and answered all of my questions. They have such a great office with a lovely team.

We have been seeing Dr. Patty since my twins were 2 years old. I would not take them anywhere else. My child dentist experience was awful so I did a lot of research to find the perfect place for my kiddos. It is night and day from my experience as a child. The staff is so friendly, approachable and always run on time. The clinic is seriously the cleanest I’ve ever seen and I work in Medicine. My kids would tell you their favorite part are the balloons, cavity free photo and pick your own toy at the end of the visit!! You will be in good hands if you choose this office. Portland Children Dentistry is our best choice for the kids. They give exceptional services with respect, friendliness, and kids friendly environment. My kids love to come see dr Patty every time. She is good with my kids, especially my older son with autism. She goes out of her way to give him an outstanding care. Cristina is very nice and friendly to talk to for scheduling. I have a Four and a Nine year old. We just moved to Portland 2 years ago. I can't remember a time when any of my kids, families kids, friends kids, or co-workers kids ever said they wanted to go to the dentist...

Dr. Patty and her team are professional, kind, and friendly. They help explain each step and assure that the child and parent know what is happening along the way. They are high tech and offer kids the chance to watch movies to keep distracted from the procedures and reward them with a large area of toys/prizes and balloons. We are VERY happy with Portland Children's Dentistry!

I can't say enough nice things about PCD. They are SO sweet to my kids, parents of young children themselves so very in tune, very professional and so easy to be around. The Facility is sparkling clean, new, high tech and comfortable in a very convenient spot for being downtown (lots of parking). They make sure your kids are comfortable with what they are doing, if they aren't they won't push it. These guys know what they're doing and it shows. (Oh, and the Netflix on the ceiling is pretty much the coolest idea ever.)

I cant say more wonderful things about Dr. David and his team. my 2 year old had to go under general anesthesia and David and his team comforted my fears answered all my questions through text, email and direct phone calls from the dentist. they are very good at what they do and very very kind. Amazing bed side manner. This will be our forever dentist!

Our experience at Portland Children's Dentistry was fantastic. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. They make my two year old feel comfortable to the point where she is excited to go to the dentist. Janelle was so fast with the teeth cleaning and has a perfect personality to work with young children. Dr. Patty is both warm and kind as well as knowledgeable and helpful when I had questions about my daughter's dental care. I cannot recommend this clinic highly enough!

This was my daughter's first visit to the dentist. She is 3 and a bit shy. The hygienist was great, took the time to show my daughter all of the tools she would use, put on a show to distract her, and really made sure she was comfortable with everything she was going to do prior to doing it. She asked if it was OK to "Tickle" each of my daughter's teeth with the special brush, and really helped my daughter get comfortable prior to proceeding. The Dr. was great. We saw Dr. Patty, and it was a great experience. My daughter left with no cavities and was talking all the rest

My daughter saw Dr. David and his Dental Assistant Janelle for her very first dental exam and it was the such a great experience! They really made my daughter feel comfortable and at ease. The office is clean, kid friendly and cool flat screens hanging from the ceilings for distraction. Our visit could not have been better!
