I help people who are suffering from depression, recovering from trauma or wanting to improve the quality of the relationships in their lives. A majority of the people with whom I work are artists or people in helping professions. People who work in helping professions are determined to live lives filled with meaning and purpose.

She graduated from New College of California in 2006 with a Masters in Clinical Psychology. Although she has worked with a very diverse range of people, including children and adolescents, her current practice focuses on individual adults. She specializes in helping artists and people who frequently help others.
Before the artist can produce anything, she must first establish a life which nourishes, rather than undermines, her impulse to create. She must struggle with issues of money and time, with her own nagging self-doubt and feelings of worthlessness. She must summon the courage to do for herself before doing for others.
Most people have a strong yearning for intimacy, shared experiences and mutual understanding. But many are unable to experience much joy or satisfaction in their lives because their relationships are so fraught with misunderstanding and pain.

Many of the people with whom I work initially came to therapy because they were struggling with intense feelings of sadness, guilt, disappointment and frustration. Many of these people had become isolated from others because they did not want to burden people with their feelings or because they felt deeply misunderstood by others when they did attempt to connect.

A psychotherapy relationship is complex and unique. I am confident that Carly is able to honor this relationship with her contemplative thinking and dedication to social justice. She is compassionate in her practice, deliberate in her work, and facilitates change through thoughtful guidance. As a clinician myself, I would hope that anyone seeking psychotherapy would look for such qualities in a potential therapist.
