Welcome to Los Ocampo Mexican Restaurant where we build the best Mexican food you've ever had from scratch. Everything I've had here I liked. The huarachazo, rice and beans, sope, tacos-all the ingredients are good and fresh. I love how they do their fried masa cakes, which are in many of the dishes.
It's not your plate of tex mex dripping in grease and oily cheese. I like the touches of fresh cheese, radishes, avocado, the red and green salsa. I usually can't resist getting the combo plates that come with rice and beans - even though they give you a whole plateful so you end up with two giant plates of food!

Services
Los Ocampo Mexican Restaurant has served the freshly prepared, flavorful, authentic cuisine of mexico since 2003. Starting with our first location in Minneapolis located in the Lake Plaza then expanding our business to the Seeger Square in St. Paul in 2005. Opportunities arose in 2006 and the third location was opened in the Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis.

First time here and I loved it! I've been looking for tanales that hirs the spot for the longest time ever, and now I have found it. It wasnt dry or soggy; it was perfect! The meat inside was generous as was the sauce and cheese! I'm not sure what my bf's order was called, but the meat was perfectly charred and the sauce on it had such an addicting sourness to it. The churros were throughly cooked with generous sugar. The drinks I had, a sangria and kinkyrita, had generous liquor in it too! Overall, I loved my experience here and will come again when I am craving this cuisine!

A friend and I ate here two days ago on Saturday. Listen this has a great feel bartenders and servers very talkative I was expecting a enjoyable experience. Sadly my beer was warm off the tap food was day or days old. From the time we ordered to receiving our meal was a matter of 4 minutes. As a said EEs are awesome but the food was NOT fresh other than that awesome place.

I do not recommend the tamales they smoother them in to much sauce and the tamales are super small. They are definitely not original style tamales. I ordered take out and when I received my food the sauce was everywhere inside the bag. The guy who took my order argued with me saying I should of asked for it on the side . Most restaurants already prepare food separately. It was a sloppy mess. I may try them again with a dine in experience and update the review but for now thumbs down.

We had a terrible experience. We were regulars. Today when we saw our bill we noticed they charged 3 extra beers. $ 10.50. First they said they will call their boss to check cameras. We responded ok. Then they treat us to call the police. We said call it. Finally they deducted the 3 beers but asked us to do not come back. To give an example of who we are. A couple months ago when we asked for the bill they told us that the system was down and only accepted cash. We said that we only had cards. We drove to the nearest ATM got cash and came back and paid. I never felt so discriminated and offended

Their tacos are sooo good, especially with the light green salsa they serve it with! My favorite is the veggie taco, which has a surprisingly amount of flavor.
Try the churro bites! It's a good size for sharing! Comes with chocolate and caramel drizzled on, and whipped cream that tastes fresh.
For drinks, if you're looking for a margarita, I'd recommend the blood orange one! It's not too sweet, and it's a large size.

If you're use to going to the one on Arcade this one might be a whole new experience for you. It is more of a full service restaurant. You actually get seated, get a menu, and have a waiter/waitress. I liked that they offered lunch specials here but service was a bit on the slow side. Also I usually love getting the roasted jalapeƱo peppers but at this location they weren't the best.

I contacted a few different Mexican restaurants to cater a company picnic. Most were unresponsive but Emma from Los Ocampo quickly responded to my online inquiry. She was really helpful in selecting how much food/drinks for the picnic and very quick to respond.
For a quote of 200 people Taco Bar, the total with delivery and a 15% was about $2,784 or $14/person. For the amount and quality of food we received it was definitely worth it!
For delivery, they were also very communicative and even early to the set delivery time. They were friendly and worked quickly also to get everything set up.

I just love Los Ocampo. Why does it have three stars on Yelp? Maybe all the reviewers contracted a mysterious psychological ailment that causes the brain to mysteriously subtract two from every number it sees.
Los Ocampo's main restaurant is off 94 at White Bear. It's a homey Mexican joint (which means slightly less colorful decor and noise) that does the usual and unusual suspects very well. This location on University is newer and quieter. The perfect choice for casual but flavorful Mexican.

Generous portion sizes, friendly wait staff, nice interior, and well-priced! Stopped in here for the first time for a late lunch. My bf and I ordered horchata, chori-queso con papas, tostada con carne with barbacoa, and the los ocampo burrito with grilled steak.
Horchata - loved this!! So refreshing and went great with our meal.
Chori-queso con papas - these were amazing!!! Super crispy potato fries that was served with a queso/meat dip. It comes with a lot of fries so my bf and I were almost full by the time our entrees arrived. We were satisfied with the ratio of dip to fries.

I've been to all the other locations, and this place needs some serious work to get on the level of my personal favorite location at Chicago & Lake. I liked the interior-- the rounded wall of windows is a cool effect. But our service was abysmal and the food was just OK.
I went with a group of coworkers for lunch on a Wednesday. This location is restaurant style (vs. taqueria) with table service and a menu like the White Bear location (which includes full bar!). Finally! Another Mexican restaurant on University. The closest one to us was on Suburban Ave and that was a bit of a hike. So glad to see these guys move in. A nice and refreshing alternative to La Cucaracha.
Great customer service. They get you in, out and get you what you want. Great green salsa.
