Topside Inn is in the center of Boothbay Harbor atop McKown Hill, just over a 1 hour drive from Portland, Maine, 3 hours from Boston and a reasonable distance from many other popular New England destinations. Imagine waking up in a beautiful room overlooking Boothbay Harbor. You stretch your legs, pour a cup of coffee, and sit down for a gourmet breakfast to start the day off right. This is what every morning is like at Topside Inn. Our B&B is situated on a hilltop, surrounded by acres of stunning Maine Coast scenery.
A large front porch greets you at the entrance to our Main House above Boothbay Harbor, home to stunning views across the lawn and the sea beyond. Step inside to find inviting common areas and a wall of information on walking paths, events, boat schedules, and local shops and galleries. There's a comfortable living room in front and a serving room in the back for breakfast, snacks, and tea throughout the day.
The Windward Guesthouse sits at the western edge of our front lawn, just steps away from the Main House. It captures the spirit of a Maine summer cottage with plenty of modern updates. We completely remodeled the Windward rooms while preserving their coastal feel with white-washed wood, light colors, sliding barn doors, and built-in furniture.

I wish there were more stars! The owners greeted us with open arms and a glass of Prosecco. Nothing wasn’t well-appointed. Our room and our views (I could wax rather poetic on the views) was perfection. Breakfast was over the top and beautifully served. I cannot think of a single negative except for we were only able to stay one night!

Where to even begin....I should start by saying that 5 stars doesn't do this magical gem enough justice. We absolutely love it here. It's heaven on earth. Truly. This is our 2nd trip to Topside....the last trip we did here was in 2019 and happened to be our last trip before COVID. For our first vacation since the start of COVID, Topside was the FIRST place we wanted to return "home away from home" to.

Topside Inn~ Highly Recommend!! Chic coastal quaint!! Gorgeous panoramic views from atop the hill overlooking Booth Bay Harbor!! Quintessential Maine!! Comfortable luxury in a beautiful location is what I experienced during my stay. The care and helpfulness of the staff are outstanding. Meticulously clean, the rooms are well appointed and extremely tasteful. Many, many touches are added to make your stay convenient, deliciously luxurious and just an overall delight. Public spaces are plentiful including a porch with rockers or a large lawn with Adirondack chairs overlooking the harbor. Breakfast is marvelous

Topside Inn is a true getaway! My husband and I stayed here for the second time and have already booked our third visit. Buzz, Mark, and Rebekah are stellar, as soon as we entered the door we were treated like family. Our room was spotless and literally picture perfect. The breakfasts are out of this world and unlike anything we’ve ever had. The list of what Topside Inn is doing perfectly is truly endless. Our stay at Topside inn was TopNotch! Everything from the moment we made the first call to make the reservation, to the moment we sadly walked to our car leaving this wonderful piece of heaven, was a stupendous experience. The breathtaking views, the perfectly and well thought out decor, the delectable breakfast & afternoon cookies, all the small details throughout the property make this for a perfect stay. The Topside Inn is simply outstanding. We've stayed there 5 times now. Mark and Buzz, the owners, along with their staff, work hard to make this a perfect getaway experience. The views of Boothbay Harbor are fantastic; the rooms are impeccably set up for ease and comfort; the new bar in the main house offers a range of delightful drinks and tapas; and the daily breakfast (included) is always innovative and delicious. They put their hearts and souls into this B&B--and it never disappoints!

We had a lovely stay at The Topside Inn.
Stayed here a few days before picking up our child from a nearby resident summer camp.
Beautiful location and just a short walk to town ..(one of the last towns on earth that you can leave your car unlocked).
We stayed in a newly renovated room.. very pretty , fridge came fully stocked with craft beers and nonalcoholic drinks.
Staff and owners were super friendly and went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable.
Breakfast was amazing.. Huevos Rancheros, waffles, pastries all made from scratch as well as a good selection of gourmet

Topside was amazing! We were greeted warmly by co-owner Buzz and later by Mark, both of whom were friendly and happy to share their special place with us. After being offered a flute of prosecco & white wine, we were led to our perfectly designed room overlooking the harbor. Bed, sheets, towels were super comfy! Our breakfast on the porch of fruit parfait, granola, egg topped crepe, and lemon coffee cake was quaintly prepared and delicious! We rested our food coma in Adirondack chairs on the sunny, harbor facing lawn. A perfect stay!

My wife and I stayed three nights this Memorial Day weekend and had an excellent experience at the Topside Inn. Buzz, Mark and Rebekah made us feel right at home and we can’t say enough about it.
Breakfasts were perfect and absolutely delicious! Our room was extremely clean and lovely right down to the details (bathroom spray:). We slept soundly as the pillows and bed were perfect! What a view over the harbor and Burnt Island Lighthouse was visible from our room and balcony!
We will return again and again to experience the perfection that is the Topside Inn.

My family loved this place. The rooms were clean and decorated nicely. I enjoyed getting up and seeing the harbor from my window every morning.
Delicious breakfasts, homemade breads, fresh baked cookies in the afternoon, great restaurant recommendations, awesome location, I could go on!

Amazing!! You cannot find a better place to stay anywhere. Buzz, Mark & Rebecca are all star hosts who provide the most amazing experience. Each day you will be served a breakfast that will be the best thing you have eaten anywhere and at the end of the day they will leave at your door two cookies that are the best of the best. Delicious!

Wonderful stay. Upgraded to second floor room overlooking the harbor. Easy walk to town and shops. The inn is gorgeous and the room was meticulous and beautifully decorated and furnished. Bed was super comfy with wonderful soft sheets and pillows (I want to buy them!). Breakfast was delivered to our room due to Covid. Delicious and healthy. We would return for sure!

We stopped here on the food tour and to our surprise, the first stop was the best! The chefs were very friendly and interactive. From what I gatherered they make different stuff every day which you gotta love. We had eggs and waffles and I spent the rest of the trip wanting to be back there.

Talk about owner loyalty Buzz and Mark the new owners did their homework and remembered my last visit 8 years ago down to the last details of which rooms we were in. Since then they've completely remodeled most of the rooms in the inn. I was fortunate enough to be upgraded to what was previously the owners Suite! With vaulted ceilings, full kitchen with granite countertop, a working electric fireplace, a deep bathtub, and a full size Amazon Alexa playing soft classical music upon entrance and even an umbrella outside the front door this had to be one of the most enjoyable and friendly accommodations

When staying in Boothbay Harbor this is the only place you should consider. They are without a doubt the best. Located at the top of a hill the inn provides stunning views and cool harbor breezes. We were greeted by Buzz who has a wealth of information about things to do and places to eat.
The inn itself has great charm and provides everything you could need for a wonderful stay. We arrived right when the hot cookies came out. Hot chocolate cookie with peanut butter chips! Yum! Be sure to make it a point to hit the lobby around 3pm to enjoy these tasty treats!

Love love love this place. We arrived at Boothbay Harbor with no hotel reservation and after driving around found the topside inn beautifully remodeled its light and airy with very comfortable rooms. The owners Mark and Buzz were welcoming and accommodating we loved the breakfasts and the

The Topside Inn is about as perfect as an inn can be. Mark and Buzz are so welcoming and relaxed, you feel like you are staying with friends. Every detail of the main house is beautiful and perfectly appointed. Mark kindly upgraded us to a better (higher up) room, and then offered us an even better one with a King bed. The ocean view from our little window seat was amazing. There was a cozy little sitting area outside our door, also with a stunning ocean view. Although it was a hot day (for Maine), the ocean breeze was so strong up there on the 3rd floor, I had to pull the windows almost closed

Not much more to add to the other reviews. This place is top-notch. It's contemporary and immaculate, with outstanding service and great attention to the little details. Example: binoculars for guests to gaze out onto the harbor with, several umbrellas for rainy days, a wide range of excellent reading material, etc. Breakfasts were amazing. Each day there is a sweet or savory entree, plus yogurt and granola, fresh fruit, and delicious breads.
Add to that the perfect setting and location, and you have a five-star B&B experience for sure.
