John began working in Asian restaurants when he was in high school and continued to work for them throughout his high school and college career. With his Bachelors Degree in Business from NCSU, he had several corporate jobs but never left the restaurant industry. He met his wife Amy in her family's restaurant in 1997, and they were married in 2000.
A year later, John realized that he enjoyed the restaurant industry more than his corporate job and decided to open his first restaurant in 2002, with the support of Amy and her family. Since 2002, John continued to open restaurants and sold several of his businesses. In 2010, John and Amy decided to partner up and open Sushi O. Amy's experience in restaurants allowed her to help manage Sushi O.

Services
Tuna, avocado, and crispy wontons topped with spicy mayo, eel sauce, sriracha, sesame seeds, and cilantro. Roast duck with scallion and cucumber wrapped in a tortilla and served with sweet brown sauce. Delicious chunks of crab meat, cream cheese and scallion wrapped in egg noodle skin, served with sweet chili sauce.

No lie - literally we were on the phone with the manager for an hour because THEY messed up our roll. They forgot an appetizer, they forgot the spring roll, and gave us the wrong sushi. We called and let them know, the manager said we were trying to scam. He was so rude. He wasn't trying to help and said that we weren't being courteous because we didn't want to wait for him to call us back.
Mind you, he didn't even want to come to the phone. He told the girl to not give him the phone, we overheard, such an unprofessional place.

The pro? they certainly don't skimp and the service, prices and atmosphere are all great. The cons? Very salty entree's and it's all food court food and flavor.
Which is fine because it's food court prices but if you'd like sushi that's actually worth paying for parking this isn't it. A sushi place can be judged by the rice and in that department it gets a zero. The sushi rice was flavorless and too loose which was a pain because the piece of fish on top is big enough to be shark bait. It's a great place for youngins on a low budget to see and be seen and

I have been a fan of this restaurant for years. I love the sushi and other items I have ordered. The food is great…which is the reason they got 2 stars and not one. Took one of my friends there for her first visit, we sat at the bar. After we ate we were sitting there talking & while we were talking there was 2 roaches that were crawling on the edge of the bar counters on the side where they make the drinks! Super disgusting!!!! None of the workers appeared to be even surprised when I told our waitress, nor did they try to find the roaches either. It appeared that it was business as usual. As

Parked out front and was instructed by staff to move and park in the garage behind the restaurant and take a photo of parking spot to have parking validated at the restaurant. We did so, and upon returning to the car had a $50 ticket for a parking violation. I called the restaurant and after speaking to a very rude employee she asked what spot and time we were there, then stated "were you with a party? Well then I don't know what I can do I don't know what to tell you". Food and drinks may have been good but this ruined the entire experience. So word of advice don't trust

What a wonderful place off Glenwood Avenue! I am so happy I chose to come here for sushi. It did not disappoint. The Bang Bang shrimp roll was absolutely delicious. Let's not forget about the 35% off sushi roll deal. I also ordered the spicy garlic edamame and it was so flavorful and light. The service was great and the inside is cute. They have their hours listed as opening at 4pm on Friday, but they actually said 5pm when we got their at 4:15pm. I'm glad we waited for them to open. It was worth it.

Locals flock to this East-meets-West restaurant on Glenwood Ave in downtown Raleigh for 2 specific reasons. The food is excellent and the selection in the menu is varied. It offers an outside seating as inside dining area is usually full to health code capacity. Service is very fast and the staff is motivated. Highly recommended. A must-eat place when in Raleigh.

Dirty utensils with the rice still in the fork came to my table wrapped in the cloth napkins. Without my asking, the waiter provided a discount for this, but it was a bit of a turn-off after receiving my food we asked for plastic. The women's restroom needs a deep cleaning--no paper towels. Even after alerting staff, no one replenished. I know this because my sister went in maybe 30 minutes after me--more than enough time. The sushi is okay. The overall experience of the dirty utensils and bathroom took away from the rating. I'd rather go back to the competitor on the same street, Sushi

This was my second time coming here. The first time I came it was on a date so I decided to enjoy the vibes alone this time. This spot is definitely great for dates, friend outings, family or solo by the way. The hostess spent no time finding me a seat but it took quite a minute to have my order taken (about 15 mins give it take) However, given how good the food was last time, I stayed and waited.
By the time the waitress came to my table I knew exactly what I wanted. I ordered the salt & pepper calamari ($8), crunchy roll ($9.50), and a mimosa ($5). It took about 10 mins maybe for everything

Tonight was my husband and I first time trying this place and it was DELISH!! I wish I would've taken pics of the food but I was so hungry I forgot about that part. I got egg drop soup, a side of vegetable lomein and a shrimp tempura roll. He got a salad with ginger dressing and an order of sesame chicken with fried rice with a crazy salmon roll.
Again, EVERYTHING was great!!
The service was fast and the server was friendly. The atmosphere was cute and at first it did seem like a lot of people but they did practice social distancing guidelines.

I went with the boyfriend and sister. We started with the bang bang shrimp. Perfection. That was my first time eating that and they set the bar high!
Next we ordered 4 sushi rolls. My sister got the mermaid roll and the super roll. I got the daddy roll and crazy fire roll. The daddy roll was definitely my favorite.
Great time. Will definitely be returning in the future.

This is one of the best places to get vegetarian rolls in the triangle! Their outdoor dining is also my summer favorite.
My order:
Bunny roll : Cucumber, carrot and avocado topped with our seasoned bean curd
Veggy dynamite roll : Tofu, avocado, and cucumber inside. Topped with spicy mayo.
I always get their steamed vegetable gyoza too, so good!
Due to Covid-19, they are no longer offering BOGO Sushi Rolls but they do have 35% off instead. Show them some love

What a great find on our trip to Raleigh!
We stopped by for lunch today on our way out of town and they graciously sat us outside so we could enjoy the beautiful weather on this abnormally cool June day. The server checked on us regularly, too. I've found that at times you can be forgotten when sitting outside, but we were properly cared for during our visit.
The food was just amazing. The Tom Kha soup was the most flavorful I've ever had, with a depth of flavor that let me know it had been simmered for a while. The Hot and Sour soup was also a delicious treat, with just enough
