Law Offices Of Karen B. Dawson, PC
I have spent my professional life assisting individuals and families with very personal legal issues relating to their financial security. Since 2007, I have focused exclusively on Estate Planning and Administration. Everyone should proactively make an estate plan, and yet there is no 'one size fits all' solution.

Each family situation is different and everyone deserves personal attention to their needs and aspirations. My style of practice is to listen to and learn from you, and then to collaborate with you in the design of an estate plan tailored to your needs. The end goal is to produce an estate plan of the highest quality that is well understood and will work as intended.

My Dad didn't want me to be a lawyer. He thought the world had enough lawyers already. He wanted me to teach math. But I saw law school as a way to learn how the world works. I wanted to help people solve complex problems and negotiate their way through sticky situations. Little did we know that as an estate lawyer I could be both a creative problem solver and a teacher.
Our process is designed to produce a plan suited to you, your family, and your goals. In three meetings, usually spaced a couple weeks apart, we will guide you through the stages of planning, implementing and using your plan. The first meeting involves a lot of fact-finding on our end. It is important that we learn about your family, goals, and resources, so we ask that you complete our Estate Planning Worksheet in advance.
My husband and I are very happy to highly recommend Karen B. Dawson. We contacted her while living and working outside of the U.S. She kindly kept a flexible schedule to accommodate our brief visits home and during every meeting she patiently made sure that we understood well the process, step-by-step.
Contact us for a consultation appointment. We ask that you come prepared by completing a worksheet prior to your appointment. The worksheets are lengthy, but they are extremely helpful tools as they help us to lay all the cards on the table and launch into a more interesting and productive discussion.
While nobody wants to think about death or disability, establishing an estate plan is one of the most important steps you can take to protect yourself and your loved ones. Proper estate planning not only puts you in charge of your finances, it can also spare your loved ones the expense, delay and frustration associated with managing your affairs when you pass away or become disabled.

I worked with Karen and she helped me set up my trust. And then when I got remarried she helped me and my husband make the changes necessary that we need her to as a married couple. She took the time to explain everything to us.

Karen did a fabulous job on my will & trust. I am a financial planner and, as such, have had the opportunity to look through a very large number of will/trust plans over the years. Karen's plans are thorough and detailed in a straightforward and understandable way. The time she takes to walk her clients through the entire plan face to face is invaluable. Another plus is the fact that she follows up with a reminder regarding the transfer of assets. Too many times I have seen clients put valuable time and money into creating their trust, only to leave the assets on the outside, rendering the plan
