Services
Our vision is to carry the spirit of community acupuncture through the entire business. This led to BAC being organized as a co-operative and a sociocracy because these models embody the values of community, equality, accountability, and transparency to name a few. BAC is governed by an autonomous group of volunteers to meet the economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations of our community as they relate to acupuncture.
Your acupunks are licensed in the State of Idaho and have passed the NCCAOM board exams. They maintain annual continuing education credits per Idaho Acupuncture Board and are trained in proper needle technique. Your acupunks also have specialized training in treating in a community setting, practicing trauma-informed and culturally appropriate care, and always aim to give effective and empowering healthcare to all.
We are able to do what we do because of our volunteers. They are the reason we can offer affordable acupuncture, seven days a week. Our volunteers manage the front desk, wash laundry and clean the clinic. Without their service and dedication, we could not help as many people. We are amazed by the power of community and the people who step up and give their time and energy to Boise Acupuncture Co-op (BAC).
Each population of BAC has equal power in decision making - our Board consists of an employee representative, patient representatives and volunteer representatives. The Board is a sociocratic, autonomous governing body that meets quarterly to ensure BAC stays true to our mission, vision, and values by overseeing all decisions aside from day-to-day operations.
Being a community acupuncture clinic is more than just an arrangement of chairs. It's a relationship with you, our community. We rely on you to support the clinic so we, in turn, can support the health and well being of our community with acupuncture. We hope that you feel part of this community from the minute you walk through the door.

Just had my first session and instantly fell in love with Boise Acupuncture Co-Op! All the staff were super friendly and welcoming. The facilities were very inviting and clean. Shanell was so sweet and talked me through the process, making sure I felt comfortable. I really enjoyed my experience and look forward to coming back in the future!

After my third visit I'm feeling good as new! I came in for treatments on my back, an injury from the sport I currently compete in. Gretchen is the best! She listened to my story and with each session gave me care that felt progressive toward my healing. After my second treatment I felt good. After my third I am ready to go back to work. I will keep going to keep getting even better and will recommend this place to everyone I know and meet. Also, the environment, energy, affordability and overall experience at this place is A++. The people are all very kind and it's such a happy space to be in

This is an awesome place. I was skeptical when I first went but after several treatments the pain in my back went away. Everyone there is very professional. The atmosphere is very quiet and relaxing. I have recommended several friends with various ailments and many of them have gone. After several treatments they were impressed and were all very pleased with the results. Very dedicated people work there as well as several volunteers at the front desk. Give them a try. You won't be sorry.

The staff at Boise Acupuncture Cooperative are friendly, helpful and always attentive. Each time I go to get acupuncture it's quite relaxing and the treatment has started to relieve what was fairly consistent pain in my right knee. While the room where the acupuncture takes place is open with many different people it feels comfortable and relaxing.

Lori is new to the co-op and I met her today and received treatment from her. She's excellent. She tried a point on the bottom of my feet nobody has tried on me before. I had a rejuvenating rest and calmed my mind. I've been receiving private treatments at an acupuncture clinic, and that's awesome, but the schedule has been tight at the private clinic and I don't like to miss a week so I scheduled at the co-op to fill the gaps. Even in a room with others, I just love the caring atmosphere and the punks who choose to serve in this community environment. You make it a special

This is my favorite place in the world to heal or just take a great nap. Their acupuncturists have helped me with allergies, neck pain, labor induction, and a whole slew of other ailments over the years. I don't know what I'd do without them, their relaxing space, and wonderful volunteers. I'm so happy to have discovered acupuncture as an affordable health care option. Thank you, Boise Acu Co-op, for all you do for our community!

4 years ago I went once to get poked at BAC, this was when they were in the northend area. A friend from my group said to come check it out. Life got crazy crazy with the recovery train and I haven't been back until today. I still 4 years later was receiving newsletter-emails from BAC, to remind me that they are still here :0).
I have the worst tennis elbow or I should say "lash elbow" from my career. I get wicked bad neck aches from looking down all day and am in constant pain. I also am moving in with my fiancé who has a cat and am severely allergic.

What an amazing experience. One of my clients referred me here and I'm so glad she did. I was realy nervous at first but that faded quick.
The receptionist at the front desk was so friendly and walked me through what would happen. The acupuncturist was awesome and she did a great job. I have slept like a rock the past few days since my treatment and that wasn't even the main issue I went in for.
Definitely referring all my clients who ask about acupuncture to this amazing place. I love even more that this place is affordable to anyone who may need acupuncture and not just people with a ton of

Hi I have only gone here a few times but I have learned how to relax and settle in to a chair and let "Gretchen" determine and poke me. I really respect that she takes the time to find out what I need and also expresses things she does in her life other than acupuncture! She makes me feel comfortable! I had one day with too many things keeping my mind just jumping around and had to cut my time short b cause of not being able to calm my self down. Gretchen just said that some days when we have lots of other things to weigh us down we just can't relax but even a short time with acupuncture

This place is truly exceptional - peaceful, clean, and comforting; and even more, they make acupuncture affordable to anyone.
I’ve only had the pleasure of interacting with two of the acupuncturists that work here – Shanell and Stacey. Let me just say, they are both incredible human beings. Their kind spirit, attention to detail, and consistent listening beautifully complement their impressive needling and cupping skills. Every time I go in they ask qualified questions and follow up on ailments we have discussed. You can tell they love what they do, and you can see it in the care they provide

I've been in Boise about a year now and had been looking for a new place to call home with regard to acupuncture. I came from an employer who covered acupuncture on our insurance to now having to pay out of pocket. Most spa and holistic wellness practices in Boise are waitlisted for a few weeks to a month out, and outside my budget. When I found BAC I was excited! I had been to a co-op in Eugene and enjoyed the experience. I appreciate the mission of accessible care for anyone.
I've been a few times now, seeing Gretchen for stress and exhaustion. She has been so caring and kind. I always

My back went into spasm after I'd been over doing it painting my house, one visit to Gretchen fixed me up. This is an amazing gift to the community. Acupuncture that any body can afford given by amazing professionals. Go get acupuncture if you have never had it. You will be surprised how many ailments it can help! and remember after the needles are in, they are like little hairs you can barely feel, you should lay in the chair for as long as you can. Feel the incredible feeling of your Qi and blood moving while your body goes into over drive to heal itself.

I've been here a few times now.
The receptionists are friendly. I liked that tea is offered. While it's not something I usually drink, it's part of my little ritual now before I go into the treatment room.
The treatment room itself is cozy. (And not cozy in the small sense as you don't feel all crammed together.) At first, I was a little unsure about the community aspect. However, when I walked into the room and saw everyone just looking so relaxed, it helped me calm down, too. It's dim, quiet, and soft music plays. You can choose to get a blanket and a little

I love this place. Physical health issues, stress, or just the need to relax are all addressed in this calm, caring place. The staff members are knowledgeable, skilled, and kind. It's incredibly affordable plus it's easy to schedule an appointment and I never have to wait too long to get in. When the weight of the world is too much they are a restorative refuge. An "accunap" and a treatment from Gretchen or Stacey are my go to for whatever ails me.

Everything about my experience was wonderful. I had emailed the office with some basic inquiries. I quickly received a response and decided to make an appointment. I easily scheduled my appointment on their website and received a confirmation email within a couple of minutes of making it and even received a reminder a day before the appointment. Also through their website I was able to print out the required forms and fill them out before the visit.
Today I arrived for my visit and was greeted at the front desk by a wonderful young lady who prepared my chart and was willing to answer any questions

I enjoyed my visit to Boise Acupuncture Co-op. I had never experienced this type of clinic before but it worked out perfectly. I saw Stacey and she was really knowledgeable and made me feel at ease. I saw Gretchen at the Boise Acupuncture Co-op recently. I was in the middle of crisis and her excellent technique, her kind and gentle approach, along with the calming space of the clinic really saved me. I'm sorry that I was only visiting Boise, as this was absolutely one of the best acupuncture experiences I've had.
