Services
Buyers want to know that a home is safe, structurally and mechanically sound, and free of health risks. Our home inspectors visual evaluation will provide a solid foundation of knowledge about the current state of the home, its components and systems. In addition, our home inspectors will include maintenance tips and other information to help you protect your investment.
We encourage you to attend your inspection (which will take between three and four hours, depending on the size and condition of the home) so that I can describe my process, explain my findings, point out important maintenance items, and answer all of your questions. We will inspect your rural property, including any outbuildings, for structural and safety issues, and to make sure that their systems and components are functioning as they should.
We hold the necessary Professional License credentials required by the State of Illinois to conduct radon testing for Commercial buildings including Daycare centers. Radon testers must hold a Professional License with the State of Illinois, Those licensed to test radon in residential real estate transactions may not be licensed to test daycare centers.
Mold is part of the natural environment. In nature mold plays an important part by breaking down dead organic matter such as fallen leaves and dead trees. However, mold growth is less common indoors. Mold reproduces by creating tiny spores. Mold growth may damage clothes, shoes and furnishings, such as carpets, sofas and cabinets.

Our experience with Steve Henningsen was fantastic. He inspected the home we put an offer on a couple days previously. He was thorough and knowledgeable and personable. We went with him because he wasn't the highest or the lowest price. He went above and beyond what we expected. He explained everything he did and found and what we needed to have adressed with the seller. We highly recommend him. We would use him again in the future. Pleasant experience. We had our one year inspection done on our house by Steven who was not only informative about what he was doing, but went above and beyond our expectations with his service.
His detailed report helped us to pin point areas we were not even aware of so we could have our developer fix.
He even let us know in person and on the report where to find the main water and gas valve shut offs. Very important!

Steven was very thorough during the entire home inspection and his reports are highly detailed, easy to read and make it an easy process to request repairs needed after the inspection. Steve was absolutely fantastic. I recommend Cottages to Castles to anyone.Very knowledgeable on all aspects of inspecting a home from top to bottom. He can explain to you very well what he finds so you know what you're up against when you are buying a house. He also has all the equipment for inspecting and even does radon testing. Everything that he finds he puts into a thorough report that is easy to understand and read.
