Lake Nina Restaurant
The restaurant has been around for about 60 years. It is a family kind of place: placemats instead of tablecloths, friendly, informal and efficient waitresses, bright lights and TV and pinball machines in background. Not romantic, maybe; clean and frequently crowded. It's that kind of restaurant kids grow up remembering.

With a lake behind it, it is appropriate that the menu emphasize fish, served with a tasty, thick and creamy tartar sauce. One reason the taste of the sauce stands out is that the batter in which all of the fish and chicken is dipped is salt-free. It is also light and crispy. Seafood dishes include: jack salmon, the house special, a fish log of boneless steak fish, and shrimp.
Services
Waffle Fries covered with a three cheese blend and topped with real bacon pieces, fresh tomatoes and jalapenos, smothered with ranch dressing. Available 7 days a week from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Hot Slaw, Tossed Salad, Coleslaw, Applesauce, Cottage Cheese, Vegetable of the Day, French Fries, Home Fries, Mashed Potatoes.

We have been going to Lake Nina for as long as I can remember. My grandpa used to stop there on his way home from work to pick up a carry out order, and that was back in the late 60's. Lake Nina has amazing food and great prices but we always return because of the service. We always get Sydney and she is AMAZING!! We would strongly recommend asking for her, if she is working. We went there yesterday and had 12 in our party and the service was top notch, as always!!!

Love Lake Nina and love Sydney!!!

I came for lunch because I'd heard the fish here is really good. I got the fish sandwich and hot slaw and it did not disappoint. I'll definitely be back for some more fish.

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Very fair prices. Used to go there when I was a child with my family. They always have placemats to color for kids. Very homey and comfortable. Their fish and fried chicken is wonderful. They still bring a basket of rye and white bread to your table. So glad they kept their family traditions and atmosphere. Beautiful lake to watch as you dine. You should go at least once in your life.

Had the fish log. Nice size but no taste. Had the frog legs also. Same thing. No taste. Tables dirty. Had to get my own rag and wipe table off. Will not return.

I stopped by to pick up my mom something to eat. I ordered a burger and fries. I waited for the food and toured the restaurant. The lake is in the back so I walked to the dining area and the food smelled amazing. I believe a cook was also back there and told me it was the chicken rolled in medium sauce. I think that's what he said. My said the burger was good. I have to go and try for myself now.

Tavern chicken was tasty but the hot slaw was disappointing. I thought it would be served warm but it was cold and swimming in vingeray juice.
The fish log was very good . Thick and meaty with a light crust. Be prepared for a 25 minute wait. Waitress said it was because it's so thick.
Fries were ordinary but the cheesy home fries were also good.
The meal was a little pricey but overall a nice relaxed place to have a meal.

They have the best fried fish I have ever had. It's called the "Fish Log." Get the home fries with cheese and onion. You won't be disappointed. It was excellent. I am going to head there for a football game and see what it's like.

My first time trying them this past weekend. I ordered the wings and a salad for carry-out over the phone. The lady that took the order over the phone was very pleasant and she got the order correct. The wings were A-1, and the salad was everything I could have imagined. The food is awesome, fresh & delicious.

The atmosphere upon entering to pickup my food.....well, let's say I received the stares of the the locals, that spoke volumes of..."you're not a local of this restaurant, please do not dine in glare" LOL, I kid you not. Even though I would have loved accessing

We got food to-go and it was really good. We had the Tavern Chicken and thought it was a great meal. The chicken was freshly-made and the cheese and toppings gave it a comfort food-feel. It took about 30 minutes for our food to be ready, which was great because we still had to drive there, and I like knowing that it was freshly made. The kids got popcorn shrimp and liked it.
Plenty of parking. There is a small lake out back. I didn't look too see if there was outdoor seating, but I assume there was. I would go here again, it was great!

Visit was March 12, 2021. Ordered carryout at the bar with spouse. Fish log with fries and hot slaw to take home on a Friday in Lent. A tradition for us. Wines were good and reasonable. Arrived at 3:30 PM and the place was nearly full. Fish log dinner made a great meal for 2. It is big. Highly recommend this old school place. They do a great job and have great service.

What a hidden amazing find. Don't judge it by the outside. Shared an order of chicken livers to start with, cooked perfectly and large portion. Fish log for meal. Was delicious and big. Hot cole slaw was a welcome change on a the usual dish. Service was also great. Other reviews on here said service was an opportunity, but our server was very attentive and accommodating. Enjoyed the meal immensely, would highly recommend

Homely Gem on the west side. I've been there for fish and fries during lent but my neighbors recommended the chicken wings a few weeks ago. So we ordered 50 wings for carry out with five different sauces late on a Thursday night. Really thoughtful service in Covid times and very quick.

The teriyaki and Thai sauces were good and not too sweet. Lots of breading on the wings made them a bit soggy by the time we made the drive home. Good large size flats and drums too. I feel like the hot sauce could have been hotter over all well worth it. Hot slaw and fries were tasty would have been amazing

I love this little place. My parents brought us here and hubby and I keep going back fairly often. No doubt they have the best fish log in the Cincinnati area (I have tried dozens of others over the years). The hot slaw is also excellent. Sometimes I forget to tell folks that their chicken wings, fried chicken, and chicken livers are also amazing. Not on the menu, but you order the six wing appetizer as a lunch with two sides and rye bread for $7.99. For a dollar more, you can specify all drum or all flats. I always get all drums. They are big and meaty. I have worked my way through the sauce

The food was really good, but the service was terrible. We had a large group gathering there after my mother's funeral on a Saturday. The waitresses were inattentive and actually had attitude. I was disappointed. This was almost a month ago, and I'm just now getting to posting my review. Clearly it's still on my mind.

The food was okay - good. It is definitely an older crowd and the reason the food is not seasoned. Most of the food we had, fish log and fried chicken had no salt added. One the positive side, the view is wonderful if you sit next to the window!
The service was okay, we arrived at 4:30 pm. The older people got here at 5 pm and the place was packed by 6 pm. The poor waitress had way too many tables for one person.
The prices are reasonable, as you get a ton of food.

Best of the West. Home of the Fish Log! Come on, can't beat that! Also Mon/Tues is cheap beer night, so check it out.

Love sitting by the window overlooking the lake, feels like your on vacation right here in Groesbeck! This hidden gem is worth checking out for drinks, sandwiches and a variety of fish options that are all awesome!

I want this to be so much better.

It's pretty unassuming from the outside and I went in with high hopes. When you first walk in, there's no host stand or anything - you walk into a area that has a long bar and tables. We stood there for a min confused but what I'm assuming is one of the regulars told us to just grab a seat wherever.

Past the bar is an add-on (feel like it was probably a patio that they enclosed) that has windows all the way around that overlook the "lake" aka pond. We grabbed a table by one of the windows and my husband went and grabbed a high chair

Pickle Chips appetizer was great and massive. I think it was five full pickles sliced long way.

Then the waffle nachos were crazy good and also massive.

Great setting with a nice view and ducks walking around the deck.

The even talked me into hot slaw. It sounds gross but was actually something I'll get again.

And to top it off they sell the worlds best fish sandwich. Bold claim but I'm sure it in the top 1000 of fish sandwich's.

Not the friendliest place. We called to ask if we could bring dogs and eat in the patio and we're told yes. Only to arrive and be hassled by the server about having dogs. Finally determined we were allowed to stay

We should've just left. Server I think was mad that we were allowed to
Stay and said she was allergic to "animals". OK. Sure.

Food was sub par.

If you didn't know this place was here you could live in Cincinnati your entire life and never hear about it. You can't see it from the street either. They're on Pippin Road - you turn in where the sign says Lakeridge Acres and they're right there on your left.
The place is small and worn looking but they do good business. The food is nothing fancy but it's good, solid diner type fare. The specialty is a fish log. I don't eat fish but my brother used to rave about the fish log here. So, if you like fish you want to try this out.

Fish log.

Doesn't sound very appealing. I've bought several foods that were described as "log"s. I never thought fish would be one of those things.

The fish log here is fantastic! It's a BIG loin of cod battered and deep fried to a golden brown. No grease on my plate at all. Bone dry. Crisp. Great flavor. So, so, so good!

Clean! This place is under appreciated. It's one of those places that is a local secret but the secret is now out! Great food and service!
