This is the 7th time I have spent a week at the Seaward Motel courtesy of my mom who foots the 'not so inexpensive' bill. When I first started coming with her the place allowed smoking and boy did it attract smokers. The very next year they took out the open louvered windows in the front and filled in the wall. They turned the place non smoking and the change in guests was immediately noted. No more smoking parties until all hours on the deck and sun deck area. No more raucous carrying on heard through the louvered windows. The quiet in the rooms was immediately appreciated.

The bottom line is that if you want to stay somewhere in SH for less than a week you have motel options. This one was reasonably priced. For a motel it was fairly quiet and very clean. Yes the decor is dated. But the pool is nice and you are paying for the location rather than the rooms being up to date. They run a tight ship. They close the pool at a certain hour so that you are not kept up for hours with people splashing in the pool. A major tip is that the pullout couch was one of the most uncomfortable things I had ever slept on. As I tossed and turned all night I couldn't help but think

I would give this hotel negative stars in possible. We have had a room booked for months for a family vacation to start July 29th for a week. We got an e-mail on Monday (5 days before our trip) that their renovations were not completed and they did not have a room for us. The owner Northeast Associates has other hotels on the Island -- the Dunes and the Colonial. No alternative options offered, no credit-- no nothing just a half hearted sorry. These people are terrible business people and will ruin your family vacation. I would suggest to avoid all of their hotels since they cannot be trusted.

DO NOT STAY HERE!
They screwed up our reservations, alleging they were for the prior week. They refused to give us a room for the night despite having vacancies, purporting we were a "no show" for the prior week. They also refused to refund our money for the night's rental, which we paid in full in advance by phone, or give us a discounted rate for the evening. The staff was rude and unhelpful.
I do not recommend you stay here or any of the other hotels in Stone Harbor owned by the same company - The Dunes, The Colonial, and The Harbor Inn.
