In 2003, on the advice of my physical therapist, I began practicing Pilates in a mat class setting. I started noticing a dramatic reduction of pain in my back, so I moved up to taking weekly private lessons from the instructor. I became stronger and I no longer needed to take medicine to keep my back pain at bay.
While performing Pilates, one must be focused on breath, fluidity of movement and correct alignment of the body. To focus on all of these things at one time, the mind must be fully focused. The experience becomes a kind of mindful meditation. I loved the fact that I was gaining strength, correcting my posture and meditating at the same time.

Services
It is strongly recommended that beginning clients take 10 private lessons. After these beginning sessions, we can evaluate your current level of expertise and decide where to progress from there. The first time I meet with you regardless of your level of experience, I will perform an assessment created by Polestar Pilates.
Kim Taylor is a very knowledgeable and personable Pilates instructor. She has been my instructor for over a year and a half and I have completely redefined my body for the good.
I have always done aerobic exercise and have had my share of injuries especially my back and neck but, with combining Kim's pilates with aerobic exercise, I have had absolutely no injuries and I have found that my aerobic activities are better because of the pilates training.Kim has shown me that you don't need the "burn" to increase your strength and your control over your body.

Kat is extremely knowledgeable, the classes are always different from the previous one but also have flow on what you have been doing, she’s very welcoming and the studio has a really cool but zen vibe about it!
Love & always look forward to my pilates class each week! Could not recommend KT pilates more highly if I tried! Kat is one of the absolute best of the best!

I have a bad back & shoulder therefore am limited in a lot of physical exercises, or so I thought!
I get a full body workout whilst not aggravating any of my injuries or adding any stress to the joints.
Kat is SO supportive and knowledgeable & the studio is clean with a calm retreat feel to it.
I walk out of every session feeling so revitalised, clear of mind and always looking forward to my next class - I'm obsessed!

I'm someone who hated PE and playing sports--couldn't wait to grow up so no one could force me to play volleyball. So exercise was not my friend and just walking into a gym was kind of triggering. But Kim is amazing! She acquainted my mind with my body, literally. Sometimes she would show me how to move a particular muscle and I would say, "My brain can't talk to that muscle." But Kim would talk more about it, help me visualize it, and after a while, I could move it! Kim is also a kind, sensitive person it is a privilege to know. Highly recommend!

I was so excited to find a reformer studio in Pakenham. Kat is so welcoming and friendly. She made me feel right at home and certainly knows her stuff. Next month will be my 4th year now working with Kim. I have never stuck with an exercise program so long and it is because of Kim and her program for me. Although I'm getting older I have been able to maintain or even increase my energy, balance, strength and flexibility. I have problem areas that Kim monitors to be sure I don't injure myself and so that I maximize range of motion and minimize discomfort. She has continued to work with me via Zoom during this pandemic and it has worked great while keeping everyone safe. She works towards my goals for myself and takes a genuine interest

I am so fortunate that I found Kim, her Pilates class was exactly what I was looking for. I first came to Kim because I needed help with a knee injury. She was so attentive and not only helped my knee but she has also helped me become stronger while teaching me about how to move my body properly. It has been almost a year and what a difference it has made. I am more in tune with muscle groups I never knew existed. I went from only doing cardio to now having better posture, more energy, less aches and pains, and being strong especially in my core.

I'm new to Pilates but very familiar with working out. I've done yoga for over a decade, have done lots of long distance running, circuit training, essentially every type of physical activity including physical therapy. I contacted Kim early 2016 hoping she could help me with my back pain but ended up having surgery before I could meet her. Pilates with Kim has transformed my body. When I started I had frequent back pain, extremely tight hamstrings, and minimal flexibility. Through weekly sessions with Kim I was able to increase flexibility and now can do downward dog without bending my knees. Also Kim has taught me proper posture and has strengthened my core. So now my back pain is significantly less frequent. I'm so happy to be seeing Kim! She's professional and friendly. I highly recommend her!

I was very fortunate to find Kim after I had done some Pilates based PT after breaking my knee back in 2012. I've been working with her twice a week now for over a year and a half. She is extremely knowledgeable, attentive, encouraging beyond belief, and an all around good person! With her guidance and expertise I have not only gained strength in my legs, but my whole body feels so much stronger and more flexible than I've probably ever been. I have been going to Kim for Pilates for several years now. She is fantastic. Kim creates a program totally suited to you're health and physical needs.She works you so you are challenged but is very perceptive if you are not feeling 100% that day.
Kim is constantly taking classes to expand her repertoire and has an excellent knowledge of physiology and how your body is supposed to work. I highly recommend her.

This is an update of my earlier review. Almost two years later, I'm still seeing Kim twice a week, still enjoying it, and still getting good results! She is wonderful to work with and motivates me to stick with it. Thank you, Kim!
My wife still goes twice weekly as well. Especially for people our age, this is a great way to stay healthy and get our bodies in better shape, and fight the effects of aging.

Kim's teaching draws from many styles of pilates and she uses what is needed to get the best out of me each session. When I walk in for our session I never know what we are going to end up focusing on and I am always impressed with what Kim notices in my body. I am usually sweating and shaking during the class and I leave with things to work on and think about in regards to my body and my movement.
