Bywater Bakery did the cake and cookies for our wedding. The cake was not only delicious but so beautiful! A member of their team did an amazing job decorating our cake with flowers from our florist, Leaf+Petal. The chocolate chip cookies were gone in a matter of seconds and people still rave about how good they were. We also loved that we were able to pay for the tiered cake and sheet cake as a total vs by the slice like some other bakeries. Additionally, Sara was a joy to work with every step of the way from answering our questions to the tasting to collaborating with our wedding coordinator

Picked up two king cakes today. I had the Carnival King Cake and the new Brownie Bomb King Cake.
I was really let down with both cakes. Don't get me wrong, they were decent but I was expecting more from Bywater Bakery. The sponge was dry. Bywater is forward about the "ooey gooey butter smear", but for me, it tasted like dried out pound cake.
Icing was tasty and still kind of gooey. Standard sugar toppings. I really loved the filling for the Brownie Bomb. It's decadent but for a chocolate lover, it's awesome.

What a treat!!! Strolled in town for a few day and when we asked around for a different spin on King Cake - a savory one, we were eagerly guided to Bywater. It did NOT disappoint. We were delighted by the atmosphere, the friendly and welcoming staff was warming and let's talk "king cake". We enjoyed a slice of spinach artichoke and a yummy crawfish king cake. There were delicious and the breakfast 'Geaux' cups were an awesome idea and belly filling. We will defines be recommending and returning to the wonderful bakery !!!!

We took a day trip to Nola today. We ordered 2 King cakes ahead of time & we're ready when we arrived! (They always have a good system on orders/pick up. We have been here several times. 1 king cake was for a friend. We chose the Blueberry king cake. We love blueberry, so why not? The "cake" (bread) was good. The icing & coloring were as expected. I took 1 photo below of a broken piece of this king cake. I am sorry to say We were both disappointed. They have GREAT bakery goods! The blueberry (more a pie filling type- which was ok) was all on the bottom of the king cake. So

Finally getting around to a well deserved review. One of my fav bakeries in the city for all sorts of reasons. 1. The food, obviously. Got a cake from them for a birthday (chocolate Chantilly) and it was delicious (not too sweet, light). It's also my go to for visitors-they have all sorts of pastries for breakfast as well as some hot kitchen items. My fav is the coconut berry scone. Seasonally they have king cakes at present. so far the savoury crawfish one and the Chantilly ones are my favorites. 2. There is always something going on, today the plant lady was across the street, but

Sooooo yummy! Ordered the Croque Madame (amazingly delicious, husband loved the buttery fried bread with the ooey gooey cheese and egg), the breakfast gumbo (brilliantly delicious) and a brownie bomb for a breakfast dessert after our savories (chocolate texture perfection). Got to pet neighborhood pups while we waited briefly for our food. Music playing for the seats outside. Lovely beginning to our day. Bought some chantilly cake for later…. Will make sure to head back on our next NOLA visit.

I was born and raised in NOLA. Have been gone 14years now(I visit 2/3x a year) well now I'm down here for a month and decided to "find" the best Muffaletta(in the city)
I have been here for two weeks and have had a muffalette 4x. So far Bywater bakery has had the best overall Muffaletta. Great olive salad! Definitely best bread! And by far the best price ($10 half)
Served perfectly warm!

Bywater Bakery is incredible. I do not live in the area and was unable to do any type of tasting with any bakeries prior to booking with them, but when I asked my other vendors who they recommended, this Bakery was at the top of everyone's list. And let me tell you they did not disappoint! The cake was phenomenal and the frosting was perfect. They designed it beautifully and I could not have asked for a better bakery to have do our cake on our special day. There is no doubt in my mind that they are the best bakery in New Orleans for any occasion!

Everyone at our wedding was raving about our Bywater Bakery cake. The white almond cake with buttercream icing was so good we ate the leftovers every day until they were gone. The price was lower than other bakeries we looked at, the tasting and ordering process couldn't have been easier, and a change we needed to make a couple weeks before the wedding was no problem.

Bywater Bakery made our wedding cake and it looked and tasted amazing! Their pricing was great and Sara was very responsive with communication. They have a huge variety of flavor and filling options so we were able to make our 4 tiers completely different. Our cake looked absolutely beautiful, and our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was. Bywater Bakery made our wedding cake experience wonderful from start to finish, and we would highly recommend them for anybody looking to support a fantastic local bakery. My sister and I stopped here for a late breakfast. I ordered a cheese and egg croissant sandwich and it was delicious. She ordered the breakfast gumbo and said she regretted it but then as she ate more, she ended up absolutely loving it and finished the whole cup!
The bakery items through the window looked amazing, next time I'll have to try a baked good. This is a cute little spot, we sat outside and enjoyed our breakfast.

Okay, this is my new favorite bakery/sandwich spot. I had the best Cuban I've ever had here. Staff is quick and friendly. Planning to order our next two birthday cakes here.
They often have local artists on the weekends, and for anyone that can't get out, they usually livestream the music on Facebook.
Plentiful Outside seating. (Street parking).
And anyone with a RBG painting in the window will definitely get my return business.

My favorite King Cake of all is their Chantilly Berry. Jesus. It has earned all the hype and then some. I'm not a sweets person, but this cake was so good that I've noticed an uptick in the amount of confections I eat ever since. Is that possible? I have no other explanation, and this cake stalks my dreams. I'm not much of a fruit person either, and most of my friends don't like sweets. Every person I've shared this cake with has their eyes go wide, and then glaze over with joy and surrender. THAT GOOD.
It's light, airy, creamy, luxurious Chantilly creme with berries

The BEES knees, aka Bywater bakery, aka breakfast spot, aka bywater GEM.
This quaint, beautiful, family friendly, dog friendly, stomach friendly establishment is in the bywater area part of town.
Sorry folks that visit from out of town, but there is no parking lot, however there is off street parking which gives you the chance to walk around and see the most beautiful brightly colored houses!
As of right now they have outside seating and Order/pickup via window. Remember to wear your mask! They are enforcing Covid friendly policies. When we went it was just great service, good people, and

Dining room were closed so we had to order at the window on the side. Only three customer in line. When I got up to the window, the lady at the register only asked what I want. No hello or even a thank you when I paid for my cookie and king cake. Takes me almost 40 min. drive everytime I come here to pick up my Chantilly King Cakes. It would be nice to feel like they appreciate my business. Hello and Thank you is not really hard to tell your customers.

This was written during covid times.
Bywater bakery has their covid set up nicely. There is a window that people go and order their treats and when there is a long line someone comes out and asks for your drink order.
I came to bywater in search of sufganiyot (jelly donut, Israeli donut, Hanukkah donut) and was not disappointed.
This was my first sufganiyot in New Orleans and for $2 this is a steal!
Filled with strawberry jelly, this doughnut is very reminiscent of a dense beignet.
We also got two coffees which were ready as soon as we paid. The line we were in only had about four people
