The Bike Guy
My tune up is full featured and totally deluxe. Hubs adjusted. All wheels trued in the truing stand. Suspension pivots, derailleurs, brakes, cables, shifters, levers, quick release levers, and every possible thing lubed. Brakes adjusted and hydraulic systems get the fluid cycled. Gears adjusted. Headset adjusted and all fasteners checked for proper torque settings.

Bottom bracket adjusted. Suspension aired and dampers diagnosed. Bike cleaned well and chain also cleaned. Handlebars, levers, and saddle aligned. I test ride every bike. Sealant refreshed without extra labor. No other service comes close to my level of experience and attention to detail. I can't and won't just skip a step because it is difficult.
Services
I have parted ways with Elva The Bike Lady and I am no longer found at the original location. My service continues as The Bike Guy Mobile, with the same great repair work that you have come to know and trust. I come your location for a small show up fee of. Call or text for an appointment time. I raced mountain bikes here in Utah from 1988 to 1997.
I was very fortunate to be involved in the modification/amendment to the ordinance involving home based businesses. Now approved home based businesses can operate in an accessory building! Thank You to Mayor Ralph Becker and The City Council. Thank You to Nole Walkingshaw, Wendy Madrill, Orion Goff, and all the other fine folks at city hall for their insight and love for Salt Lake City and my little shop.

He replaced a 20” tube with a 16” tube and didn’t even bother fixing it after it popped because the tube was too small and he also likes to threaten his customers in private messages on his personal account

Johnny, The Bike Guy, comes to you! How convenient is that? He really knew our bikes and made them safe and comfortable to ride at a highly affordable price! He even took the time to educate me on some of the features of my bike. Nice guy! Great bike mechanic!

I love people who are just passionate about something and this couple (The Bike Guy and The Bike Lady) fit that bill. Run out of a small set up in the back of their property, they have a more than equipped shop to fix anything that ails your bike.

They are also incredibly knowledgeable about the ins and outs of anything that has two wheels and pedals, I walked away with some sound advice about my next bike purchase.

As far as service, they were unbelievably fast and checked in whenever they uncovered anything that needed replacement. The cost is unbeatable, try as you might to shop around, for

These guys are awesome... super fast and WAY more affordable than any other local shop.

Most of the times I have taken a bike in to them the repair has been $10 or $15 and in and out the same day. And they NEVER try to up-sell me like every other bike shop does. In fact, they usually talk me OUT of things that I don't really need to do. If the bike just needs one shifter cable or one small piece of housing replaced, they don't try to talk me into a full tune up or complete rebuild.

I brought my 7.5 FX TREK in for a tune up ($45). It was just loose all over and wanted it looked at. I'll tell you what, Johnny, did a great job. Realigned everything, fixed my gears, looked over anything that needed replacing (which it didn't), and over all was very friendly but more importantly, knowledgeable. I brought it in on a Tuesday afternoon. He said he was caught up on all his work and would take about 45 minutes... It was. Just a tip. They don't except card so bring exact cash. Make sure you have some 5's and 1's just in case you need some extra parts that aren

I got an old French bike this year and was so excited about it and had nothing but problems. The back tire would not stay pumped the rear derailleur snapped biking home one night etc. I took it to Johnny and not only was he very easy to talk to and honest he explained how he could fix the derailleur and did not try to replace it. The other places (I had called stated it would need to be replaced and it would be between $40-$70). He is honest and does great work at a good price. I am so happy I went to him:) Thanks Johnny!!

I took my bike to Johnny because the spokes on my wheel kept breaking. He took time with me when I was there, and he explained that my wheel was a lower end model, and probably not strong enough to support my weight (270 lbs) He was able to sell me a really nice wheel for a GREAT price that would be better suited for someone like me. He also did a full tune up for a lot lower price than every other bike store I have seen in salt lake area. On the tune up he fixed/replaced a part for my rear Derailleur for free. I would of given The Bike Guy another star if I was able. I would recommend everyone

Johnny the Bike Guy is awesome!! I found him last year when I was trying to get my husband's mountain bike tuned up as a birthday surprise. Matt had been disappointed with other bike companies in the area, so I figured the Bike Guy was worth a try!

He did a great job and was really personable! He works out of his garage and is actually pretty busy! Both when I dropped the bike off and when I picked it up, there were at least 2 other customers in there!

Matt was very happy with the tune up and ended up going back anytime he had any sort of bike issue. Once, he went in to buy a helmet from

Helpful, extremely knowledgeable, and inexpensive. Add friendly, willing to hang out and give tips on to a clueless person facing bicycling in her first real winter ever, and Johnny The Bike Guy couldn't get much better. I took my Trek 7000 there after a driver ran me off the road. He was able to fix it without new parts -- a complete tune-up, cleaning, and one rim cost me $39. Highly recommended!

If you're a loyal customer to a LBS that treats you like a local, then stick with them. Or if your bike is under warranty, take it back to where you bought it.

However, if you're searching for a competent, better than competitively priced, appreciative wrencher/ bike shop, go to The Bike Guy. It almost gets embarrassing to listen to Johnny describe all the extra effort he has put into keeping my retro-grouch bikes in excellent condition. His components and accessories are priced below your 10% rebated amount at the giant store on 33rd or some other type of discount at other shops

Disappointments. $35 for a tune is a great deal, but I was asking about getting new cables installed. Johnny said it would be 15 dollars additional labor to install the b&d cable and housing plus 5 dollars per part. Grand total of $70.
Beyond the price point, I was disappointed to hear the Bike Guy fast talked me into getting a tune.
Bottom line Johnny was fast & cheap. Now at the new location I guess he is just fast and a little lighter on the business ethics?
