Gampopa Center
The Gampopa Center is a spiritual community and a place where we learn and practice the teachings (philosophy, meditation, and science of mind) of Buddha. Our dharma center holds a variety of spiritual practices, ranging from meditation to philosophical study and Sadhana practices.

Rooted in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the Gampopa Center draws on the teachings and practices of countless realized figures across many different lineages and schools of thought. It is located in Eastport neighborhood in historic Annapolis, Maryland. The Center consists of a small shrine room, and we are actively looking to enlarge our facility.
Services
The Gampopa Center was founded in 2009 in Annapolis, Maryland, by Lama Phurbu Tashi Rinpoche based on the Buddhist understanding that the teachings of Buddha can bring us peace, happiness, and freedom. Rinpoche's students were excited to welcome a qualified Tibetan Buddhist teacher into the community and wanted to provide a place for learning and practicing Dharma (the teachings of the Buddha).
The Gampopa Center hosts a variety of different programs and practices, all of which are located on the 2nd floor of 918 Chesapeake Avenue, Annapolis, MD, 21403 (unless specifically noted in the program announcement itself).

Programs at the Gampopa Center are divided into three categories: traditional Dharma practices, led by Lama Phurbu Tashi Rinpoche; contemporary courses that complement the spiritual mission of the Gampopa Center, led by a team of talented and qualified volunteer teachers; and special events, held outside the regular program schedule. All suggested class fees are donation-based.
In the many traditions of Buddhist practice, we find several different versions of the Buddha -- the historical Buddha, the Buddha of the sutras, the Buddha of the tantras, and so on. This section explores the nature of the Buddha in greater detail, and examines the Buddha's teachings on the path toward enlightenment and the cessation of suffering.
It is the Center's wish to provide Dharma teachings and practice on a no-charge basis for those wish to explore this sacred path. While we do not formally charge for anything, donations are welcome and needed if we are to flourish. Becoming a Gampopa Center Supporting Member reflects your desire and commitment to sustain the Center's ability and aspiration to be a place of Dharmic learning and practice.

Beautiful new center and community with lots of promise. I did not meet Lama Purbu Tashi, but attended during the visit of the Tashi Kyil Monks, an impressive and friendly group. The local Buddhists of Annapolis are a fine group of folks. I hope the Center's activities will flourish for a long time to come.

The Gampopa Center has a precious jewel of a Tibetan Buddhist teacher in Lama Phurbu Tashi Rinpoche. Rinpoche understands our American culture and makes the teachings accessible. The students are a wonderful diverse group who give a warm welcome to all who visit and to all who join
