The country boy platter was great. But, the Philly steak omelet was very disappointing...instead of having real steak pieces, they used steakums...needless to say it was an unpleasant surprise. I doubt the hubby and I will return. Especially for the price, you don't receive real steak. Sorry friends...

This place has been around FOREVER. If you want a home cooked, diner like, country style breakfast. This is where you go to. Everything you can think of especially if you grew up in country living is here.

Sausage gravy
Salmon cakes
Scrapple
All the old school favorites.

Food is fresh, quick, and always great. And don't forget inexpensive. I love it here!

Support our small businesses of Richmond!

I was a little disappointed because I asked for my eggs to be scrambled soft and my bacon to be limp and that dud not happen. But my waitress was super nice so it cushioned my disappointment. I've been going for years and I will continue. Usually the food is on point so nothing is perfect all the time.

Unfortunately, this is a classic example of a long-standing restaurant that lives off its reputation and the poor taste of most of the people that go there.
They have implemented a 20% automatic gratuity for their staff as a quality of life measure, which I do not always disagree with, except when it promotes bad service and people that don't care because they know they're making a 20% tip, beware.
The food is absolutely poor quality ingredients and not prepared very well. To clarify this, I have owned restaurants on a fine dining level and no many of the tricks involved in this and I saw them

This is a classic example of a well-known restaurant that's lived off of people's poor taste and then give it way too many good reviews.

Be aware they have implemented a 20% automatic gratuity on all checks for their servers to have quality of life. My complaint is not the service charge. It's the fact that the service does not come with the service charge. Our server could have cared less and it took forever to get anything and he really didn't want to be there.

To say that the food was poor, quality is kind of an understatement, I have owned and operated restaurants and

It was my first time visiting McLeans. All staff members were friendly, and the service was timely. The food had a tasteful, southern flavor. Overall, the environment was friendly with a hometown feel. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Hours are 6am - 3pm.

Super fast service, light happy vibe. Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the breakfast food, but I'm used to more hippie crunchy type food. Like the veggie omelet used canned or frozen vegetables instead of fresh, but was otherwise cooked and seasoned well. The homefries had a slight aftertaste as if maybe they were boiled rather than fried, and one bite was super salty and the next bite was plain and mushy. The toast was just bad like cheap store bought white bread. I prefer places like First Watch for traditional breakfasts or local bakery-cafes.

Well , I won't go back....I ordered two eggs, buttered toast, grits , and bacon . One piece of toast was soaked in butter no butter on the other slice. Before asking , my waitress refilled my coffee messing up my sweetener and cream mix. Then I was automatically charged a gratuity of $2.15..... on what should have been a 12 dollar and change ticket . It's not the amount....it's the fact that I get to choose the amount...not someone else. I WONT go back.

Home of my favorite breakfast and I really like the assortment of customers they attract. But honestly the salted herrings are the big draw for me, and I think I'm due a visit back there very soon!

Went here with some friends to enjoy a quick breakfast. The food was all prepared quickly with love. If you're looking to eat healthy, I wouldn't say this is the best breakfast spot for that. However, the food is delicious and worth the try. Be sure to give this place a try while you're in the city.

Stopped by Mcleans to grab breakfast before a long ride home. Let me say this..."yaaaaaaaaaaaassssss." I love a spot that doesn't have a time limit on breakfast. The servers were on point and the breakfast was legit. Their biscuits made me consider slapping my Momma so I can't be mad at all.

I like to buy food from here! They make it in the kitchen and will put it in a box so you can eat it at home in bed or at the table if you want! They will also give you a bag to make it easier to carry more than one box by putting the boxes in the bag! Kudos!

The classic diner experience and taste. Our party of 5 had to wait a bit and it was well worth it. Reasonable prices, great service (Kim) and delicious food. Best biscuits I’ve ever had at a restaurant. My breakfast bowl exceeded expectations. And watch for the servers lined the dishes up their arms. Quite a show.

I have been going to McLeans for a year now. With COVID spiking and our country having the most deaths in the world, I found it disturbing that no one in the kitchen felt the need or respect to wear a face covering. It's hard to believe that with everything we know, this restaurant is not taking the virus seriously. With how this restaurant is set up, the guests can see the entire kitchen. Where are their masks? We are in a pandemic and I hope the leadership improves. Unfortunately I won't be coming back which is a bummer, because I like supporting local restaurants during this difficult

Great breakfast spot! While they have other lunch offerings this is definitely a really good, old-fashioned breakfast diner. The best things there that you can't find at other places are things like scrapple, fat back, and thick cut fried bologna. My wife, son, and I regularly go there for Saturday or Sunday morning and is one of the go to spots when family or friends come to visit from out of state.

Absolutely TERRIBLE staff!!

As soon as we walked in, we noticed no staff member was wearing a mask or gloves. We sat ourselves & the waitress handed us menus with no gloves. fine. but then as we ordered and looked around, no staff member was sanitising ANYTHING! making us a little uncomfortable.

we ordered and finally caught a glimpse at the kitchen staff, WHO WERE NOT WEARING ANY MASKS OR GLOVES. we didn't feel that mcleans was taking ANY precaution to make their customers feel safe so we decided to leave. Upon walking out, we let our waitress know politely that we had an emergency

My second trip to McLeans this year.
I ordered the Cheeseburger + LTM, with Onion Rings. Water to drink.
The Cheeseburger was a plain diner Cheeseburger. Nothing extraordinary. Same for the Onion Rings. I believe they were frozen.

But I ate and enjoyed every bite. Then I requested Bread Pudding. Good, but nothing to write home about.

The server was pleasant and patient. The store was clean, as was the ladies' room, and the noise level was very acceptable.

Me and my fiancé came here with friends for early breakfast when we were visiting Richmond. They picked the place so I did not have any expectation upon arriving. It was such a great surprise. This place offers all day breakfast, this place offers such a wide range. The waitress was super helpful and kind. I ordered two catfish, eggs, biscuits, and home fries. My fiancé ordered pancakes, fried apple, sausage, and fried egg. We shared the catfish and pancakes: They're all so good. The catfish was fried perfectly. The pancakes are so good too. We all left with a happy belly. I want to come

Unfortunately yesterday was my last visit to Mclean's. Although I enjoy the food, this situation has become unacceptable. I really don't find pleasure in leaving a negative review for this place, however I feel what has happened is something the Yelp family should be aware of.

While reading this review please keep in mind that I too work in the restaurant industry and I understand that things happen sometimes. I tend to be very understanding and rather lenient when dining out since I understand the struggles on the other side.

I use to be quite a regular here, often coming for the

Wednesday morning 3/28/18.
I stopped by McLeans again after another Dr.s appointment around 10am.

I ordered the Biggest Breakfast in Town. Specifically asking that I not get crispy bacon but not half raw bacon and lightly toasted toast. Well, the bacon and the toast was burnt. Grrr, smh. I was already in a rush now here i have to wait for another order of bacon and toast. The potatoes/home fries were very dry. Maybe they had been sitting out for some time, I'm not sure but they were not good.
The 2nd go round the toast was perfect, the bacon was better but still a piece was burnt.
