Orthopedics Northwest
Arthroscopy is a surgical procedure during which the internal structure of a joint is examined for diagnosis and treatment. A joint is formed by the articulation of two or more bones. The articulating surfaces of the bones in a joint are covered with smooth, shiny, white connective tissue called cartilage that reduces friction.

Meet Dr. Scott Grewe, Board Certified orthopedic surgeon, experienced and fellowship trained in knee, shoulder, sports medicine and arthroscopy. Meet Dr. Christopher Nanson, a Board Certified orthopedic surgeon with special interest in reconstructive joint surgery, with emphasis on hip and knee reconstruction and in MAKOplasty partial knee resurfacing.

Sports injuries occur when playing indoor or outdoor sports or while exercising. They can result from accidents, inadequate training, improper use of protective devices, or insufficient stretching or warm-up exercises. The most common sports injuries are sprains and strains, fractures and dislocations.
The shoulder joint is the most flexible and complex joint of the body enabling a wide range of movements to the upper extremities. The spherical head of the long bone of the arm fits loosely into the socket of the glenoid cavity of the shoulder bone to form a ball and socket joint. The stability and strength of the shoulder is provided by the supporting ligaments and tendons of the joint.
Our video animations provide information about various medical conditions including anatomy, symptoms, and treatment procedures in presentations that are simple and easy for patients to understand. We are happy to discuss your condition and treatment options in greater detail and answer any questions you may have.

I find the staff at Orthopedics NW to be friendly, knowledgeable and professional. PA Kayla was kind, thoughtful and super patient in answering all my questions as I plan to go under the surgeon's scalpel for a hip replacement (oddly in my mid 40s). The waiting room is all set up to provide personal space under these pandemic conditions and everyone from the front desk to the xray techs help me feel at ease. Highly recommend this team and facility for your medical needs.

Kayla is exceptionally competent and confident.
I have reservations about my experience with PA’s, but NONE whatsoever with Kayla.
She is significantly better in her area of expertise than many physicians I’ve been treated by.
Simply excellent care and expertise.

I saw Dr Mark Wagner for a second opinion for hip issues as he came highly recommended.
Dr Wagner and his assistant really listened in on the issues I have been having with my hip. He was empathetic and liked how straight forward he was without being abrasive. He gave me a plan.
I live in Sisters, OR and it was well worth the drive to come see him as I believe he is a good fit for me.
The other hip specialist had absolutely no empathy and was very matter of fact, which was a big turn off to anyone needs help.
Everyone is different and deals with constant pain differently.
I am hoping his plan

Emily Geyen was outstanding! She really took the time to understand my history was a brilliant communicator. She did a great job on covering all my options and made me feel well taken care of. The injection was virtually painless and no nasty soreness after. I would HIGHLY recommend her work.

Dr Emily was wonderful. She took her time and listened to our needs for my 91 year old mother who just had her femur replaced due to a fall. Dr Emily assisted in her surgery and did a great job. I couldn’t be happier with her care from this team.

I have been a patient at this clinic almost since it opened in 2000. I've had five orthopedic surgeries done here, four of which were joint replacements, primarily done by Dr. Nanson. He is the best! I have always felt I was in good hands with their p.a s too. My most recent visit with Kendra underscores
the topnotch care I've always received here.

Orthopedics Northwest has been wonderful to work with. Dr. Nanson and Emily O. And all the staff are awesome. I was referred to them by my primary for knee problems. They helped with injections in my knee due to extreme pain. It became obvious that joint replacement was needed due to joint deterioration. I had my right knee joint replacement March 2021 and started physical therapy a week later. My upfront goal was to get back on the dance floor with my wife. I took my therapy seriously as well as did water aerobics in the pool daily. I was back in dance lessons on that new knee in mid May! The

I give up! I have tried over a month to get an appointment with Dr Puska.
I already have e-mailed (twice) my medical records. The were lost twice.
The office staff seem overwhelmed and admit that they don't have time to listen to their voice mails. Dr Puskas refuses to see a patient unless he sees their records first. What if you don't have any records and you have an orthopedic issue that needs an evaluation? I guess your SOL with this prima donna. Remember that just as you are deciding which patients you choose to do surgery on, your patients are also judging you. I should

Terrible experience. Very rude & condescending attitude from someone on the team - I will refrain from mentioning her name, but she made it so I will no longer go here.
Also, after numerous attempts, I never even got to see the Dr.
On a positive note - The front desk ladies were very nice, as well as Carmen, the Physician Asst.

Dr Grew replaced my right knee at Meridian Park Hospital on March 25th. It is now May 7th and I am completing my Post Operation Physical Therapy. I am ecstatic with the surgical outcome and the therapy.
The entire process, of reaching out to the Doctor, dealing with the front desk, getting an appointment, selecting a surgical date, and working through the hospital orientation could not have gone better. I was treated professionally by the very friendly staff at every juncture of the process.
I highly recommend Dr Grew and his Physicians Assistant, Kendra.

I have worked in the medical field for 20+ years. One gets to know competence in providers. I saw Dr. Christopher Nanson & I know he is competent to do my hip replacement. He listens to the patient. Not only was I impressed with him & his bedside manner, his PA & nurse were top-notch as well. All very efficient and professional.

The administrator Lily is seriously lacking in management skills. She does not contact you back upon complaint. Her employees in billing are horrible. The man that answers the phones all of the time, is also really rude, transferring me to the wrong person, cutting me off mid sentence. Telling me I'm wrong about my own situation!? The woman Nancy has serious anger issues and cannot answer questions properly, she does not know what she is telling you and argues with you. She is unprofessional and absolutely rude. What a company! I will be letting friends know the experiences myself and others

My husband had a hip replacement with Dr. Christopher Nanson and he and his staff made the entire process very easy for us. He is doing very well in his recovery now. Dr. Nanson has done so many of these procedures that he's an expert. He is also one of only a couple of surgeons in the area who do an anterior hip replacement, which is a less invasive procedure that posterior hip replacement. We highly recommend Dr. Nanson. He's also very personable and down to earth.

Took an hour from the time I checked in until the time I was seen by a doctor for my scheduled appointment. This is terrible considering they charged over $400 to examine my shoulder. I hate that doctors feel they can be extremely late but if I show up 15 minutes late they'll cancel my appointment and still charge me.

The office staff is very rude, it takes days to get any call backs and when I do they never have an answer and will have to get back to you. They knew my wife had to travel a hour and a half to get to her appointment from out of town and they forgot to schedule the MRI machine even though the appointment was for an MRI and told that we would have to make another appointment on a different day. Then less then 1week before her surgery they told us during the pre op that we needed to pay a 500 fee now or they would cancel the surgery and reschedule. The could of told us about it two months prior so

Never have I found such rude treatment. I tried to make an appointment here (based on the good ratings), however, after close to one month of run around I was told that the doctor does not see adults.
Give me a break! Why waste my time and energy trying to make an appointment only to be told I cannot see the doctor.
These people are rude and incompetent!

After a bilateral (two at a time) hip replacement, I am 100% sure that Dr Christopher Nanson was the best choice. Every piece of the picture was excellent. Dr Nanson did an amazing job, his staff and recommendations no less wonderful. I carefully considered some of the best known hip doctors around Portland and chose Nanson and am very, very glad I did.
