If you don't wanna battle the parking in Chinatown, downtown Honolulu. Here's the place you should visit. They check ID and Vaccination status for sit down dining plus you can order for takeout Dim sum. Lunch time and dinner might be challenging as it can get quite hectic for dine in and take out. Don't bother asking the waitress attending to the dining room area, stand in line and check with the cashier. That person handles the takeout orders.
Food is onolicious and you'll be "Happy" you came. When dining in they have roaming dim sum carts...you just gotta make

In the past, Happy Days was always a good bet for fresh dim sum. Lately, though, I'm not so sure. I went in and ordered to go. Came back 30 minutes later and picked up my order. I always feel awkward opening bags and going through the order there, as there can be a little bit of attitude from some of the employees, so I didn't do so. The check is always a big mystery as they don't give you an itemized bill. In the past it's never seemed really outlandish, but this time I felt like they were giving me the haole, covid markup. When I got home 30 minutes later, I noted that a couple

Never ever order on Christmas or a holiday. I ordered for dinner at 4:00, pickup at 5. Waltzed in at 5, and there is a line of 40 people! I asked if my order was ready, told to go the end of the line, did so - took 30 minutes to get to the front - paid, then they finally started my order!!
Left at 6:25 with my food already cold since they cooked different things at different times.
Hint for future orders: go there, order, pay, and then return in 30 minutes. People who did that got their food before I did. Anyone who called, had to wait and wait. Although, they weren't answering the

The first clue that this was a dangerous place were the GREASY FLOORS. Me and my cousin were sliding around in our sneakers on the laminate flooring. She asked, "Why is the floor slippery???" and I replied "Grease".
No ventilation or air conditioning whatsoever, so therefore, grease and warm, genuinely muggy air. Grease in the air, grease on the floor, grease on the table, grease on the seats. The Grease Life...Grease is the Word.
My Japanese grandmother taught me the word for cockroach in Japanese, it is "abura mushi", and do you know what that translates to

Oh my goodness! I can't believe I haven't posted a review for Happy Days since my family and I have visited a few times already.
We were introduced to Happy Days in May 2019 when my nephew graduated from UH to celebrate his achievement. We were a family of 30 along with other families celebrating their college graduates. So it was busy. Our family of 30 consisted of 25 people visiting from the mainland. But we were all pleased with everything that was brought to our table. AND we loved the dim sum carts. We also ordered the family package. Prices for both the packages and dim sum cart

Nestled in bustling Kaimuki, Happy days is the kind of dim sum you settle for.
Service is quick, but the taste of the food is mediocre. I loved all their hot pan fried mobile stations. The dim sum on those tasted great.
I ordered a fish dish with scallops and Choy sum. The color looked away, but when you bit into the fish your face soured. Please check to see if the fish served is spoiled or not.
Parking is ample and you can pay for it in the lot. No validations.

Aww man.... This was just horrible. I hate to give 1 star, but this place was bad on service, NOT CLEAN or Covid Conscious, and more pricey than the other spots I frequent.
I really don't wanna waste much time writing this review, but if there was ANY saving grace, the food could've been good... and it was not.
The pork siu mai was so old and hard, and this (to me) is the staple of a dim sum spot. Idk if I got the one that was just sitting forEVER??? The skin of the wonton was so dry and leathery, and the pork had a very strange flavor to it. Along with that dish being a zero, our

We came here for dim sum and quickly discovered they don't dim sum for dinner.
We decided to stay and it was yummy!
Our server rarely checked on us but the food came out quickly and it was a lot of food for what we paid. Family style for 2 felt like it could feed 10!
Crispy gau gee is so good! Must have! Seafood chow fun had lots of veggies and calamari. I would've liked to see more shrimp. The mapo tofu was very settle. The seabass was perfect. I definitely feel it's a must have!!!
Street parking is available or there's really cheap parking behind the restaurant.

It's a hit or miss with service ( which is why I'm giving them 4 stars instead if 5) but the food is excellent and if you order take out during the hours of 8am- I think 10am you get a small discount. Place seats a lot of people and there's a private room for large parties.
Sunday's are extremely busy so if you plan on ordering take out or if you want to dine in, expect to wait.
I called in right when they opened before picking up and the food was ready in about 20 or so minutes.
My favorites are spare ribs, shrimp look fun, and tripe. I highly recommend trying this place

We eat here at least once or twice a month. We keep planning on ordering the main dishes, but can never quite resist the dim sum. Their baked char siu manapua is my favorite on the whole island - perfect flavor and balance between not too much bun, and that lovely shredded soft meat. We also always get the shu mai and fried pot stickers. I prefer the seafood and chive over the straight shrimp dumplings. The tripe and the spare ribs are also good standbys. It always looks insanely busy, but we've never actually waited that long. Average about $40 plus tip for 8 dishes.

It's a bit dingy. Could use a little tlc. And If you're not familiar with the Chinese persona, you'd say they need better bed side manners.
But in essence, Happy Days is a quintessential dim sum restaurant: Unadulterated Chinese cuisine. At a decent price; no frills.
They have dim sum in the mornings, cash discount if taking out (15 or 10% Cant recall). They have a good variety of dim sum and are one of the few places with jellyfish and look funn early in the day! Mmmm
At night, they have the typical standard fare served family style and those are good too, like Mongolian beef,

This place had me singing, "Ohhh Happy Daaaaay, Ohhhh happy daaaaay!" at the end of our meal.
Seriously was craving dim sum when my friend said to try out Happy Days. What? Happy Days? Never even heard of it! So I yelped it and my hubby and I drove over the following morning to check it out. Some places aren't opened on Sundays so I was happy to see this place is open 7 days/week.
You have to pay for parking here as they don't validate but it was only $1.50. We sat down right away on a Sunday morning around 1030AM. It was still packed in here and there was a LONG line of

We went twice, it was that tasty. First try was a late dinner looking for some dim sum or look funn. No pun intended . We've been in Palolo several years now and still haven't tried Happy Days. We finally looked at the menu and saw look funn. Parking is in the back of the restaurant. The lot is shared with the rest of the eateries around. You pull a ticket upon entry and you pay when you leave. Not sure about validation but it was only $1.50 for an hour or so. Not too bad. I gave four stars for this restaurant only because the checkout is ridiculously long and its a struggle to try

I grew up on Happy Days' dim sum and it always delivers. Everything is delicious and the quality is consistent. Service is quick and direct, as can be expected from most dim sum.
I especially like their look fun, which they fry so that it has a thin layer of crispiness on the outside, a touch that makes it a little unique and very delicious. On our last visit we also got the cake noodles with minute chicken. The chicken was cooked absolutely perfectly - so moist and tender. The noodles were a little on the crisp side but after sitting a little it got softer and more cakey.

Sit down dim-sum....oh how i've missed you! I loved going to this tiny spot downtown for dim-sum, but like many other small businesses, it was a victim of the pandemic. Remembered visiting Happy Days long ago, and thought "let's give it a go". We have moved into the next tier, so there was a pretty full house, although tables were still situated with 6 ft distance. First cart rolled up, grabbed some pork hash and a shrimp dumpling, next cart, taro roll and this uber yummy char siu pastry. Ordered crispy gau gee mein, and went to work!
Great flavors, very decent pricing, and
